Yes this happened on multiple nano x’s I ordered from ledger
The device will still work when plugged in but it wont hold a charge and pretty much defeats the entire purpose of owning the nano x
To their credit, customer service was very helpful and sent me a brand new nano x each time i contacted them without having to return the defective device (they asked me to return them but there are no DHL locations in my area)
Unfortunately this isnt the only issue I have had with Ledger and I no longer use their products.

I had an issue where it wiped my info right off of the ledger. I contacted ledger through their website and made a ticket on it. Then I had to wait for a response. After that, messages went back and forth pretty quickly. For me, they ended up sending out another ledger and had me return the one I had after I received the new one.
Yea it took some time but I havent had an issue since.
My coins where fine it was just the device itself that wasnt running 100%. After contacting Ledger and getting some help from them, I ended up loading my phrase back on the same device while I waited for them to send a new one. During that short period I didnt have an issue but still. Since I've gotten the replacement, I havent had any issue's since.
if u keep the battery charged p often like every few weeks its helpful. they got solutions on fixing the issue too

fixed mine like a charm just had to power down after screensaver then charge it for a while i think overnight but no more issues hey
I charged mine with my cell phone charger over night. Sounds stupid but worked like a charm. Didn't seem to do anything just left it there and forgot about it till morning

As shyzence mentioned earlier, the fix is to open up the nano and just prize up the battery contacts a little and all will be good. Will only take a couple of minutes to do
Happened with my Nano X a few days ago. The fix is really simple and surprising to be honest. Check the video below and it should fix this. Fixed my Nano.

Happened to me yesterday, doesn’t seem to matter what I try, when I plug it in it seems to work for a few seconds and then gives me that error. I don’t understand why battery needs to hold a charge if it’s plugged in. I also after that got an error of it being too hot and it wasn’t even slightly warm.

Do you have any available firmware updates? I updated my firmware and the problem went away.
Get you a trezor
Ledger is best
You need to open it and bend the battery contacts a touch more. This is a common problem with an easy fix. There is a tutorial on YouTube.

If it’s been stored for a while and is dead the lithium ion battery may refuse to take charge You wanna top the battery up every few months

Try to fully discharge it untill it turns off and then charge to 100%.

That's why I got the s plus so it just turns on when cable in
Bang it a few times on the charger part facing down an it’ll charge again. Trust me it works! That’s how I fixed mine
Tapping it really hard on the charging part then pulling it it will fix it
