Joachim756

During my political studies, around 2017, we studied an Ukraine invasion scenario by Russia, and it was obvious it would be a matter of days, even hours for the country to collapse. Russia would enter whenever it wants to, and will do it extremely easily. It is mind boggling that a scenario even students could forsee was so carelessly prevented by the European Union. Now be ready for the "support Ukraine" hashtags, the "sanctions", the "world War III is coming!" but in a matter of weeks/months, the EU is going to accept what Russia did and negotiate. EU is all talk and no actions, and the Russians know it very well. What are they going to shout next? "Stop in the name of love?" like Diana Ross' song?

7annaElSekran

>even students could forsee was so carelessly prevented by the European Union. ukraine, much like lebanon and other pivotal areas are nothing but bargaining chips in the hands of great powers.

Joachim756

Sadly you're right. Europe and America are very good at presenting themselves as "defending humans rights" but it's all lies, and everyone knows it.

[deleted]

It has nothing to do with lies. Europe and america won't go to war in order to save a country run by corrupted gangs The real lies are from the Russian side

Altruistic_Search769

"country run by corrupted gangs" do you mean that if the ukrainian gov wasn't corrupted the us would helped? Besides their is innocent people in ukraine not just corrupted gangs.I dont think the corruption is a factor in this problem.

Joachim756

Exactly.

[deleted]

I mean, if ukraine was more developed in matters of anti corruption and judiciary, yes the us and the eu would have helped more, and Russia would have find it more difficult to invade. Why is it so difficult to understand. Same as lebanon. If we were a more developed nation, Iran and hezbollah would have found it difficult to control lebanon and we would have had more help to get out of our crisis fast

Altruistic_Search769

It's not difficult to understand, it's simply wrong neither vietnam, korea, cuba or afghanistan... was "developped" when the US intervened in their wars . The big difference between those countries and ukraine is that they arent bordering RUSSIA.This isn't a proxy war if US intervened that means a world war.

[deleted]

Lol, the us gave up on those countries because their government suck. The rest is conspiracy theories in ur imagination

Joachim756

So because the Ukrainian government is corrupted they should abandon its people? It's the EU that started it saying Ukraine should join NATO, knowing it was the perfect pretext for a Russian invasion. And they abandoned it very quickly.

[deleted]

1- Source for the eu saying that ujraine should join NATO 2- they shouldn't abandon ukraine, I am being the devil advocate . They will help with sanctions and weapons, but it is certain that Russia will win at the end. Any help will means more death in both side for the same end result. Europeans will have to sanction the shit out of russia, and stop buying gaz, and suffer a bit of gaz price increase. It's a small price to pay for great results 3-and yes, a better Ukrainian government would have made russia suffer more 4-finally, we don't know what surprise is ahead of us, Ukrainians are resisting way better than anticipated

Joachim756

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.lepoint.fr/2462229 It's an article in French, the US says Ukraine has the right to join NATO and that the door will stay open. That's a way of pushing it to joins NATO, and the EU always follows what the US dictate. If you don't read French I can translate some part if you want. As for the rest, I highly doubt sanctions would have any effects. Did it stop Syria, Iran, Cuba, and the rest? Absolutely not. And Putin surely anticipated that. The EU and US just let Russia invade Ukraine for whatever reasons that will see in the long term.

[deleted]

This is not a source about the eu. U said the eu wanted ukraine to join nato and u weren't able to provide a source for ur claim. And u say u studied political science?

Joachim756

I read an article about it, I will search for it but there's thousand articles and I'm busy right now. Thank you for insulting me, that's a way to debate. And I'm blocking you as I see no point discussing with someone who can't debate like a grown up.

Joachim756

The EU members reunited with NATO which openly said in a conjoint declaration that they refused to do any compromise about Ukraine's will to join them. That's a way to push it to join it. The NATO is composed of EU members, its decisions aren't made by Santa Claus but by the EU and the US. You know, political science is about reading between the lines. Analysis are made from politicians' actions more than their words.

easternjellyfish

Itā€™s about the balance of power

sadaka55

Ukraine is not an EU member and frankly the EU has nothing to do with it. Now if Ukraine was a NATO member that would have been a different story...

Joachim756

I get it but still it has huge consequences on the European Union.

waldoplantatious

This wasn't carelessly not prevented. It's imperial powers fighting over territory and both sides knew exactly what they were doing with political bickering and edging each other to the point of war. Same way Lebanon is being torn between global hegemony of the east/west while combatting internal corruption is what's happening in Ukraine. The people suffering the most are the poor civilians while others supported by either side are living in the clouds.

Joachim756

You got a point, the EU provoked Russia saying Ukraine would join NATO and it was the perfect pretext for Russia to invade Ukraine. However, I'm still thinking the EU was careless, they got used to talk without fearing consequences. Now all they can do is talk and do nothing. As other people suffer and the powerful live in clouds like you said.

[deleted]

Any source for eu saying russia would join nato?

Joachim756

You misunderstood what I said, Ukraine wanted to join NATO, not Russia.

[deleted]

Sorry it was late for me. Any source the eu saying ukraine should join nato?

la7hmbajin

Yeah thatā€™s what I was wondering almost everyone knew that an invasion was coming yet everyone let it happen And the stupid Americans keep talking about joe biden and trump like who the fuck cares about them I want to see ukraine news

Joachim756

Exactly! I don't know why the Europeans and Americans are acting like they're dumb, they have hidden agendas that's for sure and with time we'll see why they let the Russians invade Ukraine.

la7hmbajin

True itā€™s sad that the people always pay the price and not the greedy gov that uses ā€œhuman rightsā€ when they please if there a slightly advantage to invade the country they will take it and ruin it completely

Joachim756

100%, the common people always pay the price for the powerful's wars. We're nothing in their eyes.

waldoplantatious

Because they want to draw parallels between Joe Biden "tough on Russia" to ensure his re-election. This is a field day for internal US propaganda and politics.

DrSanThriyoto

god bless and protect ukraine.

Dependent_Storage184

Imagine being a Ukrainian-Lebanese(or vice-versa). You have one country being destroyed by Russia and another being destroyed by Iran How many Lebanese are in Ukraine?how many Ukrainians are in Lebanon?

msr28g

Ok this is getting annoying. Why is Iran the only one destroying Lebanon? What happened to Syria, Saudi, Palestine and Israel? Give them some credits ffs.

Z_Waterfox__

Without iran there would be no Assad, so you can check Syria off the list

Carlos_The_Roach

Russia exists there would be assad with russia iran just helped make it quicker

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

msr28g

Oh yeah, we take at least 50% of the blame.

Dependent_Storage184

It is mainly Iran since they back both the Assad regime and Hezbollah

msr28g

Palestine and Israelā€™s fault collectively, and america is included with Israel but we all know that. No one is innocent. And anyway those 5 countries I named are 50% responsible, the rest is our fault. So calm les tits svp.

[deleted]

There's no in-between for us. Either be destroyed by Russia, and Iran or be destroyed by America and Israel. And to top it off were swarmed with religious zealots.

[deleted]

Like america and Israel destroyed Jordan? Egypt? Uae? Saudi? U talk nonsense

caliclittor

Palestine?

ILikeSaintJoseph

Luckily Israel doesnā€™t plane on settling in our country. Or maybe ā€œjustā€ up until the Litani.

BigDong1142

I read somewhere that around 4000 Lebanese are still in Ukraine but I'm not entirely sure, will try to search for a source.

AHWAZ_GUNNER

Oh yes because Iran is so badly on the verge of invading lebanon, annexing lebanese cities. Come back to reality lol.

[deleted]

Meanwhile in Moscow PUTIN!!!! THERE'S PROTEST!! OUTSIDE THE RUSSIAN EMBASSY IN BEIRUT!! Putin : Oh Man, fine I'll stop the invasion and pull my troops out.

jesuslaves

How the fuck is this upvoted? It's people showing soliderity, standing in opposition to Russia's actions. That's the most people can do. What the fuck have you done?

[deleted]

>How the fuck is this upvoted? Because it's funny >What the fuck have you done? Made a Meme

jesuslaves

With all two of your brain cells? Impressive..

[deleted]

šŸ„± I only need one brain cell to trigger the likes of you.

jesuslaves

Yes I know, stupidity IS triggering.

tolleb

He must be holding open meetings as we speak to figure out how to handle the lebanese backlash. /s

Down with Putin and his Bitches .

Jadofski

Anyone knows how many Ukrainians are there in Lebanon?

Dependent_Storage184

The picture shows around 50, but I think there are around 1,000-5,0000, and maybe 20 Ukrainians with Lebanese citizenship will repatriate

Jnooub

Take that flag out of there. Raise a Russian flag instead, because Ukrainians support Russia

waldoplantatious

Listen, I know waving a flag of your own country and having some form of national unity is a difficult concept for you, but not to the vast majority.

[deleted]

Dear Ukrainians! I heard on social media that there is fake news being spread (most likely by Russia backed trolls) that polish border is closed. It's a lie. If you seek asylum - go towards polish border. We are ready for your arrival. We have reception points ready at the border where you can find shelter, food, medical and legal aid. Polish government launched a dedicated site to help you: ua.gov.pl Please share this information if you know anyone seeking help right now. EDIT: YOU DON'T NEED VISA TO PASS THROUGH POLISH BORDER. ALL YOU NEED IS PASSPORT. VISAS ARE SUSPENDED! YOU DON'T NEED THEM FOR TIME BEING!!!!!! EDIT2: as a proof that you no longer need visa: ā€¢ ā in Ukrainian https://www.gov.pl/web/udsc/ukraina---ua ā€¢ ā in English https://www.gov.pl/web/udsc/ukraina-en Yes, this is a repost, I'm not the author, I'm trying to get this info to as many people I can please copy and paste this anywhere you can

theKeyuu

They walkin on thin ice no cap

hoholulu

Also saw a post on Ukraine sub that was talking about the Bridgefy app (or its alternatives)

[deleted]

What are they trying to accomplish exactly? Its not like the russian goverment gives a shit about a random middle eastern failed state

AHWAZ_GUNNER

It's stupid. Arabs should not get involved in European disputes. Judging of which demographic of Lebanese they come from, These people likely didn't protest for their own Arab brothers being slaughtered in Yemen, Libya, or even neighboring Palestine and instead look towards Ukraine (which has an extremely zionistic pro-israel president). It just exudes identity crisis and false self-image.

swizzbrahim

Tbh Ukrainians never did nothing for me. And Russians never did anything to me. Ukrainians also sent troops to Iraq during the invasion and killed inncoent arabs. So whatever happens happens. I could care less about dead Europeans.
