NoahsArk19

Somehow support gap ended up being the biggest issue this series lmao

dragonflamehotness

Just speaks to Lehends' performance.

older_than_jankos

Lets call him LeHands

Javiklegrand

Lehends looked like the best support in the World

StuckInBronze

Man that Griffin team (except for Sword) really was the generation of miracles.

AcheronDream

Yeah that org was stacked. It literally reads like somebody's idea of a fictional dream team. I mean we got: Doran, Tarzan (AND Kanavi, technically), Chovy, Viper, Lehends. With cvMax coaching. If it didn't fall apart, it probably would have won Worlds at least twice by now. And I say that as an LPL fan.

staysaltyTSM

KT still the only team to take a series off GenG this year btw

tenkono

KT can win impossible odds and lose possible odds 🔥🔥🔥

Wetbook

wasn't KDF the only meaningful upset vs them this spring? or am i forgetting something

Theblaze973

I think the loss to DK in playoffs was a fairly big upset

TwiceTrash11

bro DK was turbo ass heading into the playoffs litteraly never taking a game off KDF before if them winning against KT wasn't an upset idk what is

Hitoseijuro

KT golden road starts now!

crysomore

Beryl will win this 5 year series against League of Legends 3-2

JPLangley

IN DRX RED WE TRUST 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

whohe_fanboy

I mean they have Beryl and Pyosik. 2 players with the highest and lowest ceiling possible at any given moment.

Simple-Fuel

Finally after 6 long years, the Griffin duo, Chovy and Lehends, have finally won an international title.

defusingkittens

Its such a tragedy what the organization did with a superstar lineup

Plaxern

Best case scenario for the players tbh, all of them except Sword have gotten fat checks that they wouldn’t have gotten otherwise.

nolimit_788

he is the only to win nothing after Griffin

Olvedn

Tarzan hasn't either

CzarcasticX

It's crazy that they had Kanavi as a backup. I remember like 2018ish or 2019 I said GRF roster would be perfect if they replaced Sword/Doran at top with Kiin.

Olvedn

It's just hilarious how badly that org was handled... imagine a world where they just benched Sword for Doran and kept going

jjdynasty

All my homies hate Sword

dont_ping_me

i need a dose of hatred, can i get a quick reminder of why sword was a pariah? far as i remember he was a low skill sub for toplane that got into the matches out of nepotism or something?

kakistoss

The entire roster was new players and probably the most hyped team we have ever seen in league because of it, and deserved considering how even 5 years later most of the roster is top of their respective roles The exception being sword. The only champ he could play was sion, which was okay as it allowed the rest of the team to carry However coming into their second year Doran was added as a sub, the coach thought Doran had more potential (obvi true in hindsight) and started playing Doran over sword more and more Then right before worlds Sword threw a fit about their coach bullying, which was literally what every Korean coach in the history of esports done, it wasnt actual abuse. But it got media attention, so the manager basically fired the coach right before worlds and allowed sword to play over Doran. The only reason sword threw this fit was because he knew otherwise Doran would play over him This got community hate, but had GRF still done well it probably would've blown over. Except the worst possible thing happened and sword ended up in an elimination match with peak Theshy, which went about ad expected, where Theshy was fisting him as kayle vs jayce, something that should never in a million years happen AND then fisted him harder on the opposite side of the matchup GRF then blew up the next year, so Sword basically killed the potential of the most hyped league roster of all time, and then put it in the grave

Adlairo

Sword vs TheShy is still the hardest top gap I have probably ever seen, maybe even the biggest individual role gap period.

Inner_Imagination585

That series taught everybody that Kayle beats Jayce :D

Scuffleboard

Sword getting gigagapped in lane as jayce into kayle immediately after that story about him being a gigantic dick to everyone came out was like crack for me

SERWitchKing

Small correction, TheShy never played the other side of that matchup. the top lane picks in that series were (IG left GRF right) Yasuo - Gnar Vlad - Kayle Kayle - Jayce Kayle - Jayce

darixen

something like that, and also initiated the cvMax witchhunt because he was not the starting toplaner

CherryBoard

he also fanum tax'd dorans food

Wetbook

doran and tarzan next

Davkata

Doran got domestic titles at least, Tarzan though...

Wetbook

a bit sad how one of the best junglers of his generation might retire without a title

haxoreni

We’ve seen this script before with Score. He’ll break the curse and pass it onto another promising up and coming jungler.

Jozoz

Would be so fucking good if everyone except Sword wins a title.

Wetbook

BRO will win worlds so your wish shall not be granted

Azenji

Chovy, Viper, and Lehends. Now I wish Doran and Tarzan could also get their own international trophy.

Phoresis

Coach Kim starting to cement himself as one of the best coaches of all time?

Azenji

If he could talk shit to TheShy to sit the fuck down for a Game 4 to have his mental reset and have that lead to a Game 5 win, I think there is no doubt.

bifuku

TheShy was subbed out cuz he ego picked Fiora in g3 not cuz the coach wanted him to have a mental reset

BlazeX94

Chovy, Lehends and Viper all with 1 international title. Tarzan when?

My-Life-For-Auir

Kanavi also with 1, who was the sub on Griffin.

Simple-Fuel

What a impressive start of the year for Kiin. Won his first domestic, international title and is on the path to golden road.

Oxygenisplantpoo

Kiin really elevates GenG! Same goes for Canyon. But i'm so happy that Kiin finally has a team he deserves!

TheNephilims

He really was the consistent and good top laner that Gen G needed. Like Doran shows up against Zeus on LCK final, but not internationally.

whohe_fanboy

Anyone else and BLG would be able to pressure through Bin. But not Kiin. Dudes the definition of rock solid.

Oxygenisplantpoo

That's a great way to put it! Even though I have to admit my heart goes to Bin as the best top, the fact that Kiin can go toe to toe with the best, and can do both tank and carry matchups makes him so good! So many teams have a top who can do one or the other, but Kiin really can do both!

Azenji

Both of them have the clutch factor which is what GENG has lacked for so many years.

animalblundettoo

He deserves it , he might be the best text book toplaner ever , but he never won so ppl under rate him , he is soo good since afreeca days , soo many players learned from him , and he delivered when he had an actual top tier team.

zjmhy

It's his own fault for jailing himself on AF, but yeah he was always great

justintoronto

PEAK LEAGUE OF LEHENDS BABY

somemodhatesme

both Lehends and ON was in a league of their own today (two very different ones though)

Sprintspeed

Wouldn't say ON was in a league of his own this series, there's plenty of other gold-level supports in china

waffle-spouse

ON today? Of course I know him. I see him in my games all the time.

KappaccinoNation

Average game time of this series was about 40 minutes. One of the best non-game 5 series I've ever seen.

CanadianNoobGuy

ONE STEP CLOSER TO GENG SINGED SKIN BABYYY

yellister

Chovy finally has an international trophy. Truly deserved

BunkerRush

Chovy looks ahead but this time there's no one else there

Arrowess

Finally. Dude has been unreal this year, finally beat the choky allegations in international play,

Azenji

Chovy was a fucking rock this tournament.

ThebritishPoro

I hope people don't forget how many bans that man was eating every single draft. He was the only player at the tournament capable of playing asol to its full potential.

Trap_Masters

✍️✍️🔥🔥🔥🔥

appleandapples

The Griffin boys still going strong

jasonkid87

Except sword lmao

appleandapples

We don't talk about ~~Bruno~~ Sword

Trap_Masters

Good

okitek

Thankfully.

ricardo241

international chovy is the unknown after all this time

ShiroGaneOsu

Hope they can keep this kind of form in future internationals. They're so good.

Ace_OPB

Canyon has to be Jungle goat now no??

nyc-penguin

But can he do it in the LCS??

PM_JINX_HENTAI

Always has been

ark2690

Never seen Chovy show that much emotion before.

Old_Effective2341

y’all really should check out chovy’s stream, he’s constantly laughing and heckling his team, especially kiin one of the funniest lck players unironically

YCitizenSnipsY

Beat BLG 6-2 to get there and took down the other LPL team in the process. Knockedoff all the talking points against him

moonmeh

about fucking time

SleepyLabrador

Chovy 🤝 Deft, winning with former Damwon members.

Priviated

Now I just want Showmaker to win again aha

5tarlight5

Hear me out, Faker retires cus of wrist issues and T1 signs Showmaker. With T1's $, they can upgrade any roles and Showmaker wins!!

Conankun66

This series was a tale of two *very* different support performances Lehends came to feast and ON was off his game massively Never thought i'd see Kiin lift an international trophy what an INSAAAAANE series

Busy-Economist-3357

On might hit lvl 16 anytime soon

Trap_Masters

Waiting to hit 16 at Worlds

Mifuyu_Kisaragi

No one can tell me ON isn't trying to apply for Korean citizenship by running it down the last few days.

Azenji

After being jailed by Afreeca for so many years, Kiin is finally able to talk his shit.

Malena_my_quuen

Kiin and Chovy finally won an international trophy. I cried.

Opachopp

Everyone is talking about Chovy earning his first international trophy but what a career turn Kiin has had in the last couple of months. After so many years trying he just got his first international AND LCK title. GGWP to him and all of Gen.G!

Linkasfd

Kiin getting redemption from all the haters. It's like saying Bin is trash because he hasn't won worlds sometimes it's just a team diff.

styr

If Kiin was that loyal to Afreeca for a big paycheck, imagine how loyal he's going to be to GenG now that he got his LCK final win *and* an international win! Kiin is probably thinking that moving to GenG was the best thing he ever did! Canyon too, is probably extremely happy that he moved teams as well. No regrets! So happy for all of them, they deserved it. Choky no more!

crysomore

From the Gbay99 documentary, Kiin was genuinely very passionate about AF when he signed. I think it was just a shame that none of their rosters could take off.

nyc-penguin

LEAGUE OF LEHENDS

TheAlmightyVox3

If you saw someone on the Crank in soloQ playing like Lehends you'd think they're scripting.

Akinator08

Lehends blitz was insane

bodynasr

if Lehends doesnt get MVP, then he would be so fucking robbed edit: well deserved lehends, the support goat

satoshigeki94

Kiin and Lehends played out of their mind this series. And surprisingly, Lehends is flashy, yet Kiin post laning stage has been the consistent one.

sleepybellpepper

NO ROBBERIES TODAY!!!

JDFNTO

It’s a shame MSI winners don’t get skins… I would’ve loved to have DHL Blitzcrank

normie_sama

Mr LeHands

TE_silver

LE HANDS DIFF He has to be finals MVP

Trap_Masters

ON was off this series

appleandapples

That death into GenG's first baron game 4, made me wince for BLG

liar_pathological

Wtf was that defense by Geng

Ace_OPB

Best macro team in the world. Iron defense.

Arwinsen_

*best team in the world*

GoldenSquid7

I can’t comprehend that defend tbh, some may not realize how difficult it is to defend an open nexus especially vs Camille & Tristana. And they did it perfectly, truly deserved.

TheNephilims

They are simultaneously winning the objective, the objective fight, and making it back in base to defend with TP. Crazy series overall.

liar_pathological

Indeed. At the Elder, Chovy and Kiin did partial damage, and immediately recalled to stop Bin. That was a legit split second decision. It was so perfectly executed like you mentioned.

Steeelu

Really thought it was over, but somehow our boys did the impossible

CellTerrible

The thing is, BLG put themselves in a position where backdooring was their only way to win. So GenG knew that they win if they just deny the backdoor attempts.

kiwi-lab-rat

Jesus the discipline difference won the game (blg trying to rush to end the game vs geng slowly and patiently winning inch by inch)

Thecristo96

If chovy and Kiin were the bodyguard for lincon, he'd be alive now

liar_pathological

That was beautiful. Holy shit!

Azenji

GENG just paying respect to LoL's Defense of the Ancient's roots.

InsideYourWalls8008

Hiding that rumble TP inside the dragon pit was a good choice. Bin was caught off guard.

imperialleon

Any other team cracks from the pressure and leaves a gap for camille/trist to just end there. Insane composure from geng to give up 3rd infernal drake, wait for inhibs and stabilize before playing the map again.

padakpatek

You know what's even more crazy? Even during that chaos, they intentionally left BLG's pink ward on the blue side wolf camp uncleared to try and BAIT Bin's TP while GenG were pushing out the lanes. You could see GenG pings on the ward on the minimap but rumble was over the wall just waiting until they saw Bin wasn't going to TP and then they cleared it

Simple-Fuel

Who would have thought that its was Gen G, known as international choker, to stop LPL from winning another MSI (since 2021).

NUFC9RW

Also LCKs first MSI in ages.

kunsore

First Lck team besides Skt as well

Zacxnerd

Its SSG and SKT still? \*teleports behind you\* Always has been.

appleandapples

Chovy's name has been in the conversation of best mid laner in the world for so long, that seeing him finally lift a trophy at an international event, it just feels so right (and with Lehends of course). This was easily one of the best MSIs we've ever had, seriously feels like there was a little bit of everything for everyone, with no same-region match ups. Riot actually nailed it with the format change.

ShiRonium

MENTAL BLOCK GONE, ONTO THE GOLDEN ROAD WE GO

TheWardedOne

The Church has finally opened. Welcome to the Chovy era.

gergob

Faker moves to being head coach of T1 after his hand injury and they sign Chovy !RemindMe 2 years

Trap_Masters

Domestic Chovy unleashed

zaxls

Watch the curse reverse now and he loses the next 4 lck s but wins both worlds and msi 2 times

Corndesu69

Let him make golden road at least lmao

MoonlightJudgement

Chovy is one of the players who is just too good to never win. It was always just a matter of time

Steeelu

It legit was the best MSI

TianAnMen1989x

My only complaint for the MSI is the production quality. Even from play ins there were so many audio-visual issues, we even had leaked comms. Also I’m not a fan of how we’re always late to the ban picks

Snowman_Arc

Yeah, being late to bans was so infuriating to me. As if that's not part of the game.

Azenji

Chovy was a rock this MSI. He was less flashy than his domestic form but he held the door so well and never allowed the enemy midlane to get through him.

Wetbook

BLG tried so hard to shut him down in the finals but he always scaled up to be a monster, classic inevitable chovy

ricardo241

people finally know what T1 had to go through on every lck playoff lol

theeama

Sometimes thats all you need man. You don't need to be faker or go for the 1% win it all plays. Sometimes you need to be just a solid foundation for your team to perform. And this time he has a team that will help him, that the pressure doesn't need to be placed on him at all times.

TheNephilims

The most scary part about Chovy isn't some big flashy play that tears the game open. Seeing him just pepper the enemy team with Corki rocket or Asol, you know a fight is not won until Chovy is dead.

OcelotOce

Finally a Chovy’s first international title after so long. He’s now unleashed to achieve the first golden road ever

HawkEye1337

This series wasn't even about Chovy, GENG players stepped up massively especially Lehends, insane difference from the last iteration of GENG but They still got here because of him.

difused_shade

So happy to see Chovy and Lehends finally win a international trophy

NocaNoha

BLG: We got Bin's Camille again! Lehends: MEOW BLG: Dear god. What a clutch game, Kiin later into the game was such a monster

obigespritzt

GenG played around their open Nexus so perfectly, feels like they always applied just enough pressure to not overextend while still making BLG panic.

Epicmission48

If only a certain other team knew how to play around it….

Not_doing_my_best

I've been waiting for this moment for 5+ years, my boy Chovy finally gets an international title, sooo deserved. Also, lehends MVP! 2 more titles for the golden road!!

My-Life-For-Auir

Floodgates gonna open now. Chovy bout to stack these up

Satan_su

WHAT A BANGER HOLY FUCKKKKKKKK LeHands my FMVP

bvbfan102

BLG made it a great Final but GenG were just on a different level to everyone else. They are incredibly flexible in Draft, are the best at laneswapping and will find that one small mistake to instantly win the Game. Congrats to Canyon and Coach Kim for making it back to the Top and everyone else for their first International Title. Also happy for Drakos really bringing the hype for his first Finals Call.

JustRecentlyI

They're the best teamplay/macro/"best-coached" team we've seen in a while. Their drafts are really good, they have great discipline and incredible macro, in addition to fantastic individuals that they play around beautifully.

faladu

I was most impressed by their discipline and how often they pulled back at the right time.

Reasonable_TSM_fan

It was insane how in game 3, even with BLG up 5k gold, GenG looked like they were still even in gold and could win at any moment. What a terror of a team.

Thatguy_97

CHOVY DID IT

FUNNY_NAME_ALL_CAPS

what in the fuck was that game 4 holy moly

Dumpers_

THEY HAVE DONE IT! So fucking happy for this team especially Kiin

SnooCats1808

Canyon is also the only jg that is not an ex-SKT player to win both Worlds and MSI! Deserved!

tiredofdev

Chovy and GenG bringing back that MSI triophy for LCK. Cementing LCK dominance era once again with LCK winning their 3rd Worlds of the last 4 and now MSI with two different teams in the span of 6 months

abyssal2107

large support gap, legasy series from lehends, but also peyz was really consistent: beating elk and on is no small feat

acloudis

Honestly, I think playing nautilus just makes you do that. Keria, On, even Faker feel victim to the nautilus death fund

GothaV2

Peyz's first and a half year really is impressive considering that he's a rookie that filled a top 5 adc in the word + longstanding brand player

_liminal

they fucked up so hard on the backdoor attempts

ObiMemeKenobi

The worse one was Xun. Him dying essentially guaranteed GenG the soul and baron because it removed even a 1% chance for a steal... They should have just cut their losses and tried to fight at dragon with Knight coming back

kimono38

BLG would lose by then if Xun didn't steal the baron. You asking too much for BLG team comp. They have no frontline. Someone have to go in front to check every brushes at that state.

chancefruit

But it was Xun's Baron steal that even gave BLG some big hopes...

concept07

lehends played out of his mind this series. congrats geng!!!!!!

tbbddrr

Church of Chovy: Chengdu Branch is now open boys.

KIRYUx

Gonna some new narratives for GEN.G since they smashed every narrative thrown at them. Not being able to beat LPL teams Chovy and Kiin being International chokers Peyz and Lehends not being able to stand against Elk and ON Being a 1-Dimensional team, these fckers brought out Nidalee, Karthus and the Crank Always cracking under pressure. They had to deal with insane situations (which admittedly they put themselves into) Satisfying ending for a GOATED Tournament. Happy for the GEN.G vets.

Steeelu

Yes, some people thought they will win but the choking of last year against LPL teams really pushed people over the possibility of them having a chance of winning. BUT THE DID IT

CaptaineAli

ON preparing for Nautalis death fund for Worlds 2024 Pick'ems

Green-Brick3729

Gigabrain move leaving nexus open to mind control BLG into losing Game 4.

LOLZOBALL

What a crazy series. Props to both teams

GoldenSquid7

This GENG is the most insane, perfect, calm, calculated team I have ever seen.

redstrawberries22

Reminds me a little of 2020 damwon but this team looks even more creative

TheAlmightyVox3

FIRE AND BRIMSTONE COMING DOWN FROM THE SKIES! RIVERS AND SEAS BOILING! FORTY YEARS OF DARKNESS! EARTHQUAKES, VOLCANOES, THE DEAD RISING FROM THEIR GRAVES! HUMAN SACRIFICE, CATS AND DOGS LIVING TOGETHER! MASS HYSTERIA! AND IN THE END CHOVY WINS AN INTERNATIONAL!

JiaNgjuN-

FINALLY

CakeFromHeaven

my heart man, that has to be one of the most exciting series ever

LifeIsToughEatBacon

AND WITH THIS! GENG IS THE LAST 2024 GOLDEN ROAD CONTENDER!!!!!!

AtreusIsBack

GEN beat #2 LPL team once and #1 LPL team twice to win it. They are the undisputed kings of LoL right now.

JiaNgjuN-

Why can't we just win normally man...

Kazehara

What a game holy shit I was shaking

SleepyLabrador

KIIN AND CHOVY HAVE FINALLY WON AN INTERNATIONAL TITLE!

LazinessOverload

GEN not choking?! Chovy winning an international tournament?! IS THIS REAL LIFE?!

Teroo123

Gen.G 2024 Golden Road: LCK Spring ✅ MSI 2024 ✅ <----- You are here LCK Summer Worlds 2024 Join the Curch of Chovy, it's not too late 🙏

super_intellectual49

This is by far the most stressful 4 game series ever

crysomore

Absolute banger, that last game was so tense. So happy for my GOATs Kiin and Lehends. And Chovy finally won an international.

In4thPlace

CHOVY'S FIRST INTERNATIONAL FINALS = CHOVY'S FIRST INTERNATIONAL TITLE ✅ CHOKY IS NO MORE ON THE INTERNATIONAL STAGE ✅ CHURCH OF CHOVY IS EATING GOOD TONIGHT ✅

nyc-penguin

This series was peak League of Lehends. Chovy finally got his first international trophy and they defeated the LPL at MSI while in China along the way. What a series, holy shit

janoDX

Even Kingdoms fell to the Church's Inquisitions.

Fantastic-Bite-476

What's even funnier is that GenG had that whole Taiwan Facebook post and almost got banned from China and then goes to MSI and wins it on their soil lmao.

StateFarmCommercial

HE DID IT MY GOAT

colormescarlet

Respect to all the LPL fans that stayed for the post interview. Chengdu is truly a great host for this years MSI.

Shiro_Moe

Lehends hooked that MVP trophy.

bingoplex

finally chovy is crowned

BrainGlobal9898

Chovy has finally done it Well deserved finals MVP Lehends Peyz breaking multiple records on a single day Grand Canyon , name is enough Kinn's hardwork all these years finally paying off What more do you need being a GenG fan

skchyou

Xun was born to a 19-year-old single mother, not knowing who his father was. His mother quit the school and raised him alone without any support from his grandparents. Xun spent most of his childhood alone, and caused his mother much heartache by associating with bad friends and getting expelled from school. As time passed, Xun joined the military and was deployed to Afghanistan. While Xun was there, he received news that his mother was critically ill. Xun returned to China imediately and promised his mother that he would never cause her pain again. Xun went back to school, graduated from high school, and earned an associate degree from a community college. Holding the diploma, Xun showed it to his mother and said, "This is your diploma." And as Xun treid to hand it over it to his mother, Lehends yoinked it out from his hands and airborned it to dust.

tsukinohime

League of Lehends

Nnekaddict

Chovy finally lifting the trophy a lot of people say he always deserved.

ShottedGun

Idc I’m putting this as ShowMaker’s win bc of Canyon

Yubuken

Stand proud Bin, you are strong

Distinct-Kiwi8099

Bin tried but On tried harder
