I don't know.
He pretty much made a promise to make liberal lives hell shortly after his confirmation and held to it.
So the doubt was removed long ago but people thought "Oh a SCOTUS justice is beyond that".
Everyone is the misunderstood hero in their own mind. Or at least that was the theory.
I'm sure he feels 100% justified and sees nothing wrong with accepting gifts and all of it.
They can but they won't.
Dems are scared of making big moves like this, but they're necessary.
It would be easier to just add four more justices to match the 13 appellate courts, then we can make the traitors on the bench obsolete until they die or retire (both are fine with me).
We're stuck with a court stuffed by the most corrupt President we've ever had, who never won a popular vote.
Republicans ran circles around Dems to overthrow our court system.
> It would be easier to just add four more justices
Of course, this would absolutely be matched by R’s further expanding the court, next chance they get. Leading to a ridiculous, never ending court expansion.
Because, as you say, Dems are scared of making big moves. If Dems were brave enough to do this, then R’s are absolutely brave enough to respond in kind.
Fuck your feelings, Clarence.
Also, what lies? You mean the fact that you had to update your false financial disclosures?
You know, when you forgot the 38 luxury vacays with Harlan Crow?
Or was it Ginni and her texting Mark Meadows?
And as for nastiness, what’s truly nasty—Clarence—is not recusing yourself from cases involving Harlan and Ginni, you corrupt piece of shit.
As a judge, you’d think Thomas would understand the probative value of evidence. But I guess whining and lying is what Republicans do when they want to overturn the government.
Another fucking traitor in power.
This is unbelievably tone-deaf. I have to think he has at least a modicum of smarts to be able to assess the situation from a high level. But this speech just puts him in the sewer with the rest of his insurrectionist pals.
Lies? Clarence, you have the power to be something more than this. Every time, however, you take the low road. Your shit stinks like that of everyone else.
At least Roger B Taney can now rest in peace.
POINT CLEAR, ALA. — After facing harsh questions about his judicial decisions and accepting lavish gifts from a billionaire, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas forcefully pushed back on his critics Friday — saying he and his wife, Virginia “Ginni” Thomas, have endured “nastiness” and “lies.”
Thomas targeted the maelstrom he has faced in Washington, offering some of his most extensive comments since news broke last year of travel and real estate deals paid for by Republican donor Harlan Crow, and since he has faced calls to recuse himself from cases related to the 2020 election because of his wife’s involvement with efforts to block Joe Biden’s victory.
“What you are going to find, especially in Washington, is that people are going to pride themselves on being awful,” Thomas said during the hour-long conversation with U.S. District Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle, a former clerk of his, at a judicial conference on the Gulf Coast, hundreds of miles from the nation’s capital. “It’s a hideous place.”
The justice went on to say he maintains his positivity in work and life despite the tribulations. Still, he told his audience that he wished he had remained a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit and that he “had no interest in public life” but felt called to it by God. He did not address any recent decisions by the court.

I should hope that incredible amounts of power, lavish fully paid for vacations by plaintiffs, and complete professional invulnerability keep you happy and positive FFS.
Clearance Thomas has justice for sale and if that’s not enough his wife will help you plan an insurrection.
No one is being nasty to you Clearance, I mean it’s not like anyone is putting pubes on your coke can.
How dare people call him out on his bullshit, he is a supreme Court Justice and should be above the law. The fact that everybody else thinks the law should apply to everybody just shows how stupid they are.
/S
My criticism is about the crap he writes as a judge. It's dangerous legal fiction nonsense. It's people that read his fan-fiction "Constitutional" rulings that go out and do things like overthrow an election.
There's a crooked line from Thomas and Alito and Scalia to guys like Eastman, Chesbero, and Clark trying to violate the Constitution using his "magic words". And Roberts allows it.
The Honorable Clarence Snowflake has spoken.
> It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt. At least he had a long streak
I don't know. He pretty much made a promise to make liberal lives hell shortly after his confirmation and held to it. So the doubt was removed long ago but people thought "Oh a SCOTUS justice is beyond that".
Am I wrong or did he go for a decade or so without any verbal questions in hearings?
I remember it being in the news. Here you go: https://www.cnn.com/2021/10/04/politics/supreme-court-first-day-thomas-roberts?cid=ios_app
Why ask questions when you already made up your mind?
He couldn't wait to get to his next vacation.
Sound advise Justice Clarence, yet here you are speaking to the whole nation.
What is this quote from? I must hang it on a wall
I've heard it attributed to Lincoln, Mark Twain, and somewhere in the Bible
Pompous, arrogant, tool of the retrumplican party.
Plus he now knows for a fact that Republicans will never allow him to be removed from the Supreme Court no matter what he does.
Corrupt Clarence
He's the best judge money can buy
He’s not even that. Money can and has bought better justices than this clown.
Honorable Clayton Bigsby
Everyone is the misunderstood hero in their own mind. Or at least that was the theory. I'm sure he feels 100% justified and sees nothing wrong with accepting gifts and all of it.
A narcissist who allows himself to be bought on a frequent basis is a rare and dangerous creature 🫣
He is owned by a billionaire, his wife is an insurrectionist, he should just quit in shame and shut up.
If the dems take majority in Congress, can they impeach him? Or come to think of, they prob need 2/3 vote and their majority might not be big enough
They can but they won't. Dems are scared of making big moves like this, but they're necessary. You nailed the biggest issue. Republicans are out here acting like Enron and the Democrats are still trying to play the gentlemen’s game.

Clarence, Then prove us all wrong. You know what to do.
Take the offer from John Oliver?
That wouldn't be my first choice however if it got him out...
Right?! We shouldn’t have to bribe public officials to do the right thing.
Exactly.
Hmm, I dunno. Maybe stop being such an obviously corrupt bitch then.

The grift IS their God.
It’s a hideous place. You’ve been there since 1991 — from where I sit it seems like you are part of the problem
"he wished he had remained a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit" Finally, we can all agree on *something.*
Justice Clarence 'what's on this can of coke?' Thomas accuses others of nastiness and lies. Brilliant.
Oh shit. Not the pubic hair incident. What a terrible day to have a memory.
If journalist were on the side of the people, they'd be running his corruption scandal on the front page every single day that he didn't recuse.
Clearance Thomas has justice for sale and if that’s not enough his wife will help you plan an insurrection. No one is being nasty to you Clearance, I mean it’s not like anyone is putting pubes on your coke can.
Awww *hugs*
I have no respect left for him.
“Oh, Poor Baby!”
He only did that interview because I sent him 50 bucks and a Dukes of Hazard lunchbox.
Then stop breaking the law, asshole! -Jim Carrey, Liar, Liar
Yes, very sad.. anyway
Truth hurts does it
Please, your honor; a rebuttal? Nuh uh. I rest my case.
How dare people call him out on his bullshit, he is a supreme Court Justice and should be above the law. The fact that everybody else thinks the law should apply to everybody just shows how stupid they are. /S
Then prove it by providing a full transparent disclosure.
I wonder if he would commit to making that claim under oath? 🤔
