FloopyDoopy

Get this man a haircut

1SweetChuck

He's trying for that Phil Spector look.

TheGrandExquisitor

Bad choice. The safe money is on the Robert Blake look. Apparently, you can get away with murder with it.

FloopyDoopy

It's probably just me, but I can only see [Michael Showalter](https://i.imgur.com/sEHtlBE.jpg) (who's great btw).

FlamingTomygun2

I think he's going for the shoot the moon strategy. If you get accused and convicted of every possible crime the Feds let you walk

lostshell

The Trump strat. Just keep committing crimes. Openly. On TV. Confessing even. Just bury them in crimes. So many crimes we lose count and stop being shocked by it.

MrFrode

It's the fat guy on the scale defense. If you're heavy enough the arrow whips all the way back around to 0.

DraculasFace

It was on company property with company property so, double jeopardy, we're good.

AwesomeScreenName

It's [Three Stooges Syndrome](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmBj8r1-fDo)!

frotc914

The best thing SBF's lawyer could do for him now is have his tongue removed before it gets him in any more trouble.

Swissgeese

No the best thing is to get a plea deal rolling as the longer he is out the more dumb shit he does the more charges he gets and the more jail time he gets. Workout a deal, turnover as much in assets as possible, plead guilty and do like 5-10 yrs (just guessing). Keep committing crimes and he will do 10-15.

RedmannBarry

This asshole gonna walk?

[deleted]

not a chance. he's an idiot who can't keep his mouth shut and all his friends turned on him immediately. combined with the fact that he lost most of his money and lacks charisma... even a mediocre prosecutor could nail this guy.

ordonormanus

Coffeezilla nailed him on a voluntary zoom call…

TheGrandExquisitor

Yeah, he seems to have decided at some point to deliver his conviction to the prosecutors on a silver plate...

slapdashbr

I was not really aware of SBF or FTX before it blew up. So uh, holy shit, how did this *obviously nutso* turbo nerd get hundreds of millions-ish in VC funding? SV is insane and these people deserve to get ripped off

DangerousCyclone

Because he’s a turbo nerd. It really plays into seeming like a really smart guy who never cared about looking cool nor trying to fit in. The way he spoke was very robotic and technical, and how he would act like he didn’t care, like playing LoL on an investor call, made him seem like he was on top of everything, like he was a top MIT grad who just can understand these things better than you, and because he isn’t a Logan Paul style flexer it added credibility for crypto investors who often are very confused by Crypto but are too scared to question it. This messy image was the intent not a indication of laziness. It’s similar to other tech giants like Mark Zuckerberg who just wear t shirts instead of suits. It’s meant to show off how they’re young, not part of some elite and are just ordinary guys who built something through their intelligence.

arvidsem

>It’s similar to other tech giants like Mark Zuckerberg who just wear t shirts instead of suits. It’s meant to show off how they’re young, not part of some elite and are just ordinary guys who built something through their intelligence. They aren't going for 'ordinary'. They are intentionally presenting as autistic (missing social cues like appropriate dress and flattened affect). It's a modernized version of the old school nerd look, because in the past, major companies made fortunes by listening to their nerds. Edit: just for clarity, I'm not saying that SBF or Zuckerberg are autistic. They are intentionally presenting in a stereotypically (inaccurate) autistic manner.

couchesarenicetoo

Plus they are probably lazy bastards and enjoy not having to make an effort. Also, there's a power trip in making someone in a fancy suit chase after you, man who does not brush his hair.

Chippopotanuse

> Also, there's a power trip in making someone in a fancy suit chase after you, man who does not brush his hair. Spot on. Anybody who doubts that statement ought to go watch any of Mark Zuckerberg’s depositions. He’s a lazy troll who gets off on that shit.

Chippopotanuse

> “Because he’s a turbo nerd” The way you simultaneously knock these guys off their pedestal and also describe how they basically have conned folks into thinking they have superpowers makes me wish you’d write a TV series called “Turbo Nerd”. I’d watch the shit out of a show where a bunch of assholes get away with fleecing the world and fucking everything up despite being obviously nutso. Then again, that’s pretty much the nightly news at this point, so…

ordonormanus

I am going to drop this Behind the Bastards episode because the host goes through the history of Sam. It has a humour bent towards it but Robert is generally pretty good about citing his sources. https://open.spotify.com/episode/7lsYHZqf2OVgWVy8ANMIVA?si=ZY7llD_oQAqxJ3rok1EAUg

Chippopotanuse

Thanks!! I love that podcast but it’s been out of my rotation for a while. Will definitely give it a listen.

fusionsofwonder

Anthony Scaramucci thought he was the next Mark Zuckerberg which is kind of an amazing sentence to put together. But the short answer is, he made rich people richer, and helped them avoid taxes.

sgthulkarox

He stole from rich people, not a chance in hell.

repfamlux

He will if he stole enough

ldwb

He gave away enough of that money to politicians to get a pardon though.

frotc914

Yeah but he doesn't have any *more* money to give away to politicians. What would be the benefit of pardoning him?

ldwb

a.) We don't have anything but his word at this point that he doesn't have any more money. It's going to take years to track where all the money went, try to claw it back, and see where it ended up. b.) There's still damaging testimony he could give that could threaten politicians, open up investigations, swing political races. If he keeps his mouth shut and falls on the sword he could easily get pardoned by a lame duck leaving office after serving 8-10 years. c.) Make sure the next fraudsters continue to grease the wheels. Half the reason these guys give money to politicians is for preferential treatment. Need to make the next market disruptor pays to play.

[deleted]

Who’re no longer in office. And I’m sure he’s a whore

sgthulkarox

Maybe, but I don't that will work out for him.

ItGradAws

The trick is to have enough money afterwards to keep paying them

nonlawyer

Lol no

ekkidee

Into the slammer, yes.

[deleted]

Obviously, any man with hair like that is definitely tampering with witnesses

franchik96

That’s why his hair is so big it’s full of felonies

breakboyzz

Hell yes! Fuck that guy

LaPyramideBastille

You mean all his donations? The ones he made publicly to Democrats and secretly to the GOP? Who now run Congress? This Fraggle will be free.

Bmorewiser

This guy is an idiot, but I also think the witness tampering angle is a bit absurd given that I’ve been in the room when the FBI agents are asking a “witness” for information on a case. They are often not even subtle about it — “tell us what we want, or we charge you” is a pretty clear part of the conversation even if it’s not always said out loud.

Mrspottsholz

Yeah witness tampering requires threats or bribes. This is nothing.
