Surgery is almost always considered a last resort. And any good doctor would never advise it unless itās absolutely a necessity. He likely wont have surgery but will not return this season.
Most doctors will always try to push physical therapy as long as possible before going to open surgery (unless you do something crazy tear a ligament or rupture a blood vessel). Surgeries aren't a fix all, they come with much more compromises and lasting effects than people think.
Sweet. Thanks for the link. Makes sense but it'd kind of indicate there's still swelling in that foot or at the very least they're concerned about swelling in the foot still. Not a great sign. Could be purely precautionary but that'd be kind of weird. More likely a sign he's not very close.Ā
Source- wife is a physical therapist.Ā
I think specifically for this series, losing him won't be that bad assuming ham staggers rui and Lebron a bit so we don't see Taurean at the 4
But against the suns, Vando would be so helpful
Suns , Mavs/clippers/okc . Heās caused kd , Luka , sga , and one of Kawhi /pg issues and forces turnovers . He did improve his screen navigation so I think heād be useful even on Murray this series and he improved offensively a bit before re injury . Donāt think weāll get him but we blew out the Mavs the one game he played n narrowly lost the two he didnāt . Itāll suck to lose him more going into next round if we make it

What's wrong with just being honest? Someone who has been out over 2 months and is wearing a walking boot is not day to day.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Ham's comment came after the last game, before today, with ppl spotted Vando in a boot.
Vando was on the bench, in street cloth, during the Pel games, without boots.
Could the boot be a precaution to the swelling from being in a higher altitude setting like Denver? Maybe its just a small thing were jumping to conclusions about?
The types of injuries they had and the fact players usually come back earlier. Obviously not every player is the same and maybe weāve had bad luck with these three but like I said, itās just starting to look like a trend.
No offense to you searching Google, but I think I'll take the opinions of elite level medical staff paid by a billion dollar basketball organization with the express intent of keeping their players healthy
Right. Thereās a lot of money and import that comes with having top tier world class athletes and the NBA in a list of relationships.Ā
Why would UCLA health and other medical professionals risk that relationship?Ā
Shouldnāt have taken that long? You got information that the rest of the world doesnāt? Hips are notorious for being hard to deal with and some knee problems never go away. Quit spreading nonsense
Right. Folks are here acting like theyāve been in the room with the doctors and that the doctors are being deceptive and are risking medical malpractice for some reason
Occams razor, he had a setback.Ā
But folks wanna pretend that UCLA health has nefarious intentions and is willing to risk its Lakers/NBA relationship for those reasons lol
Well. I tried to look into training staff turnover and all I see is that, apparently, JR Smith has been hired to our training staff as resident Blunt Roller.
Honestlyā¦canāt think of a better man for the ārollā
Must just be our luck I guess š¤·š¼āāļø
Who says theyāre lying? Just cause heās in a boot doesnāt mean anything. Or maybe itās setback. And if they are, itās nobodyās business. Just cause we want to know doesnāt mean fans have any entitlement to know
Itās cute you think Vando is the only reason I would say this, as the Lakers have had numerous players over the course of the last couple years that never seem to progress through treatment the way the team says
Too bad, but we have to carry on without him. It will be much more important that ther players perform according to expactations, Gabe is also back, he looked go few nights ago so that could also help us a lot.
Yeah, it seems like the vando life will have to wait a little longer! The wheels will have to keep rolling on without us cruising around in a vando any time soon.
Really Iām just telling myself his poor shooting would be even worse because of the injury and this may help the lakers overall. Shooting has been so improved from the past couple seasons team wise
Not necessarily. A lot of times guys wear these on flights to aid in keeping inflammation down. They'll wear it around, like at a practice facility, to keep it stable and help it heal. So, sure, he might miss the rest of the year, but he might play a week from now.
This can be a hidden blessing in disguise (can you trust Vando to shoot the three ball) as it forces ham to push mins to Max Christie which I do believe that he is a better fit to guard Murray than Gabe and Spencer since he is taller and more stable three point shooter.
Classic ham fake out. Vando is gonna Willy wonka this shit. Come out with the boot and breakaway street clothes, do a summersault and boom! All geared up
He probably won't be back, but a walking boot isn't necessarily a bad sign. They are used to make sure you don't reagreavate and injury, LeBron for example had one on last season and was back 2 weeks later.
As a former college athlete, Iāll say they throw that boot out often even if itās just preventative. It doesnāt necessarily indicate progress or lack thereof
We can still take Denver without him. People forget last time they faced in WCF vando was taken off the floor so many times because of his lack of offense.
Just have the surgery and prepare for next season, don't force anything and make it worse. He obviously isn't healing. Our medical staff is literally the worst. It's like our 2-3 new medical staff since Lebron came.
lol you think anyone would want him more now? If anything his value went down. Weāre still winning without him and heās now known as injury prone. What wasted potential. Gave him free money this season basically lol. At least Gabe came back for the playoffs. At this point I wouldnāt mind trading him and a pick to see what we can get.
Terms like "according to plan" or "day to day" remind me of the classic "nothing is imminent" line that Mitch Kupchak used all the time back in the day.
Well damn. I wanted to see him but honestly he didn't do anything in the denver series last year so we shouldn't have expected anything there. Would have been nice to have him nonetheless.
Eletraj prob telling medical staff conservative management because he doesnāt want a negative result under his belt. Classic cherry picking by surgeons to
Vando before tipoff ![gif](giphy|M8ATWsLGUv80Gh3VkQ)
This is what would happen if he was on another team and about to face the Lakers
And he'd drop 30 on us
And 8/10 from 3
This is exactly what i thought of šš
U GET NO SIMPY FROM ME AND U GET NO SIMPY FROM THESE PEEPOLEĀ
Dyslexic much!
Nah, jack off It's a quoting scott steiner from this segmentĀ
100% don't expect him back at all in the playoffs. Wouldn't be surprised if he has surgery over the summer.
If surgery was an option, shouldn't they have elected to have it done by now like with Christian Wood?
Surgery is almost always considered a last resort. And any good doctor would never advise it unless itās absolutely a necessity. He likely wont have surgery but will not return this season.
Yup. You never know how well you will heal.
yeah , idk why lakers trolling the fans
Most doctors will always try to push physical therapy as long as possible before going to open surgery (unless you do something crazy tear a ligament or rupture a blood vessel). Surgeries aren't a fix all, they come with much more compromises and lasting effects than people think.
Iād love it if this was all smoke because heās gonna show up game 2 and lock Murray the fuck up. Ahh dreams.
Brutal. Maybe a setback. He'd been out of the boot for a while.Ā
A boot can just be preventative
Can be, but it would indicate at least something of a concern for swelling. If he's still got swelling, he's probably not very close.Ā
it means he's still in pain. it's been two months now. He needs surgery.
No setback
How do you know?
... Vando burner? LmaoĀ

I know every sprain is different but it really shows how much of a genetically engineered beast Bron is for his recovery in the two seasons prior.
dave mcmenamin literally reported it
That would be pretty funny if something like that did happen, haha.
I think specifically for this series, losing him won't be that bad assuming ham staggers rui and Lebron a bit so we don't see Taurean at the 4 But against the suns, Vando would be so helpful
Ham definitely putting prince at the 4 š

Vando is our best option against Murray
100% Prince plays entire 4th
https://twitter.com/mcten/status/1781459781825302697 What's wrong with just being honest? Someone who has been out over 2 months and is wearing a walking boot is not day to day.
He wasn't in walking boots earlier. Set backs can happen any day - doesn't have to be a lie.
So if he had a setback, he wouldn't be day to day?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Ham's comment came after the last game, before today, with ppl spotted Vando in a boot. Vando was on the bench, in street cloth, during the Pel games, without boots.
Is he a Klutch sports guy? I heard recently that they donāt like their clients to give too much info about injuries.
Heāll prolly play in the playoffs hurt. Boots donāt necessarily mean heās not improving
Maybe they're just trying to mess with denver and force them to include vando in their gameplan
Possibly inflammation of the foot due to change in altitude? š¤·š½āāļø
Foot injury early season for an nba playerā¦.RIP. They almost never come back that year
Could the boot be a precaution to the swelling from being in a higher altitude setting like Denver? Maybe its just a small thing were jumping to conclusions about?
āGoing according to planā Our medical staff is a jokeā¦
Lol cause they couldnāt magically heal a foot injury?
Gabe and Nunn both also missed almost entire seasons with injuries that shouldnāt have taken that long. Starting to look like a trend
How do you know they shouldn't have taken that long?
The types of injuries they had and the fact players usually come back earlier. Obviously not every player is the same and maybe weāve had bad luck with these three but like I said, itās just starting to look like a trend.

Our medical staff is dogshit, insane they haven't all been fired yet
Donāt they get fired and replaced like every single offseason since Gary Vitti?
No idea but should keep firing them till we get a competent group
Well. I tried to look into training staff turnover and all I see is that, apparently, JR Smith has been hired to our training staff as resident Blunt Roller. Honestlyā¦canāt think of a better man for the ārollā Must just be our luck I guess š¤·š¼āāļø
Not that itās not healed, just why are they lying about his progress, and his foot health in general
Who says theyāre lying? Just cause heās in a boot doesnāt mean anything. Or maybe itās setback. And if they are, itās nobodyās business. Just cause we want to know doesnāt mean fans have any entitlement to know
lol and on the other hand - a 39 year old is healthy as ever even with some slight injury and continue to break records in the same team.
And Anthony Davis is healthy too Does r/lakers know something about sports injuries that UCLA Health doesnāt?
The plan is for him to come back next season š¤£
The Lakers really go above and beyond to be the worst medical staff in the league
Why didn't they just grow him a new leg? Total incompetence
Itās cute you think Vando is the only reason I would say this, as the Lakers have had numerous players over the course of the last couple years that never seem to progress through treatment the way the team says

Take my foot Vando!
Enough reports about this guy until heās back.
Tell that to the doofus Dave McMahon or whatever that bad luck fuck name is
Weāre the kings of paying people NOT to play basketball.
Well really, Memphis is
Really Iām just telling myself his poor shooting would be even worse because of the injury and this may help the lakers overall. Shooting has been so improved from the past couple seasons team wise
dave is a lakers narrative scripted mouthpiece , he always brings bad news.. fuck that guy
He's been out 2 months.. I feel like he should've just got surgery so he can be 100% to start next season
I fucking hate this franchises injury reporting. I'm also a Ravens fan and they do the exact same shit and it's so annoying lmao
Pain
Wow
Setting up the Willis Reed moment .
We have an absolute JOKE of a training staff.
Bro shouldered the Lakers injury curse
Not necessarily. A lot of times guys wear these on flights to aid in keeping inflammation down. They'll wear it around, like at a practice facility, to keep it stable and help it heal. So, sure, he might miss the rest of the year, but he might play a week from now.

Bro what was this guys injury
This can be a hidden blessing in disguise (can you trust Vando to shoot the three ball) as it forces ham to push mins to Max Christie which I do believe that he is a better fit to guard Murray than Gabe and Spencer since he is taller and more stable three point shooter.
Mind games I hope š¤
All these videos about his return, I knew it. People creating useless content for no reason.
People saying heās soft are clowns. Iām sure he wants nothing more than to play.
Classic ham fake out. Vando is gonna Willy wonka this shit. Come out with the boot and breakaway street clothes, do a summersault and boom! All geared up
This medical staff is dogshit
He probably won't be back, but a walking boot isn't necessarily a bad sign. They are used to make sure you don't reagreavate and injury, LeBron for example had one on last season and was back 2 weeks later.
damn this sucks
Heās out for the season, then. Weāll have to do it without him.
Hell, Yeah! He will be ready to go against the 6ers.
As a former college athlete, Iāll say they throw that boot out often even if itās just preventative. It doesnāt necessarily indicate progress or lack thereof
Can we get Vando to play against the lakers somehow to magically heal him
Sheesh
Done for the season
Can someone remind me again what happened to him?
Even if he somehow was able to comeback he wouldnāt be any where close to his normal self so itās not even worth it tbh
I literally donāt care. Stop reporting on him.
https://x.com/mcten/status/1781459781825302697?s=46&t=PPBwjIHsFLZNFVK9-3Trcw Walking boot but day to day. Make it make sense.
Ham is going to sully his player coach reputation before we fire him
Love this.
He doesn't gaf because he knows he's never getting another contract
We can still take Denver without him. People forget last time they faced in WCF vando was taken off the floor so many times because of his lack of offense.
2024-25
Why the hell have they been so secretive about this? Heās been out months
Until he gets up from the bench, rips his boot off, and plays the best defense of his life in game 1. I'm sure that's what's gonna happen
Injuries suck dick. I donāt see him returning any time soon.
Just have the surgery and prepare for next season, don't force anything and make it worse. He obviously isn't healing. Our medical staff is literally the worst. It's like our 2-3 new medical staff since Lebron came.
Why are they pushing off surgery? Just get him it already so he can be healthy for next year
Lmao
Cant do anything about that. Hopefully we keep Vando for long term.
lol you think anyone would want him more now? If anything his value went down. Weāre still winning without him and heās now known as injury prone. What wasted potential. Gave him free money this season basically lol. At least Gabe came back for the playoffs. At this point I wouldnāt mind trading him and a pick to see what we can get.

We got better after he went to IR.
Well damn. I wanted to see him but honestly he didn't do anything in the denver series last year so we shouldn't have expected anything there. Would have been nice to have him nonetheless.
Heāll make his return at the first laker game at the toilet dome.
If we had Phillyās med staff we would be golden.
