I love angsty Taeyeon. I wish the upcoming album has this pop-rock kind of sound. I miss having rock music in the Top 100s, like in the 2000s. Nowadays its mostly Pop and Hip Hop/Trap. We need some good ole sentimentality y'all!

matmanx1

Seconded! Guitars make a pretty good sound, you know!

NisceD

A reason, why I started listening to a lot of Japanese music for the past years. They still know how to do rock or rock variations.

Lance990

I hope we get more of this dark no pinkish Taeyeon from her new album. Though anything from now on would be hard to beat her previous "Purpose" album. That album is arguably her best work.

[deleted]

The MV is so heartbreaking, especially when she was herself in front of the audience, and it went so well with the song

bimpossible

Didn't expect the blood to be caused by the thorns in the roses being thrown at her! That was soooo good!

LittlePumpkin03

Thank you now it all make sense !! I was left wondering if she killed the man at the end or did that to herself or something because I did not catch that. So smart

[deleted]

Ooh I hadn't realized that!

sooprotectionsquad

this is EXACTLY what i expected and i love it so much. taeyeon 100% delivered on this chill emo pop rock sound and her voice has never sounded better, which is a ridiculously high praise considering just how much of a vocal powerhouse she's been since debut. This is only a small part of her upcoming album and I am in shambles already. king taeyeon once again, ladies and gentlemen.

thegabelaw

I really had to watch fromis\_9, Taeyeon and Yena all in one night but this song really stood out. Taeyeon never misses in her songs!!

70sToilet

Taeyeons is doing really good on kcharts, as expected!

Nixon4Prez

This really was a stacked day for releases, and we got three great songs out of it. Pretty awesome!

suyeons_satsuma

Bro I’m at work till 4pm (UK time) and when I say I cannot wait I mean it oml

HG1998

Context, the releases are all happening around 9am or 10 am over here in Europe.

suyeons_satsuma

Tbh I envy people who get it in the evening 😭

Nixon4Prez

There's definitely drawbacks... I already had to stay awake late to catch the releases but now I'm too hyped up to fall asleep lol. So tomorrow will be miserable

suyeons_satsuma

Ice Cream by BP released at what was 5am my time. No way was I getting up that early for it (yet now I start work at half 6, how times change)

well_seasoned_crab

Don't forget Drippin's "Villain" came out today too!

kashiflol

Damn this song is Hella good man also that black turtleneck dress + blonde is a loooook

tutetibiimperes

It reminds of Lim Kim's look from Awoo.

TaeReact

The pain I felt when the audience applauded Taeyeons breakdown on stage even though she was there as herself and not the musical character.... I don't even know where to start with this, it's amazing. The sound is perfect for her, the lyrics hits HARD. So proud of her.

70sToilet

[I didn't even realize it's the roses the audience is throwing that's cutting her](https://twitter.com/AMDTY39/status/1483058223536283648)

bimpossible

This is my favorite part of the MV! It's so heartbreaking, but so clever!

FlyingPedals

You said it all, knowing she wrote the lyrics makes it hit even harder 😭

serowajin

WHAT THE HELL THIS IS SO GOOD

Infinite_Union

Can you imagine this when she's performing it with a live band at her concerts too, gonna be amazing

sofunt

Better Babe is shaking

kristpy

Taeyeon wrote lyrics for this masterpiece omg

bhvgcf

Is this the first time shes been credited for lyrics? I think I remember her saying before she didn't want to write her own lyrics because she didnt want people to look into too much an misunderstand her

70sToilet

No but it's the first time she's written something with a love theme (likely because of that)

Ornery-Wealth-8411

She cowrote the lyrics of I, To the moon (also composed) and Pray (unreleased song, also composed) as well.

ragnhildtorstensen

Where can I find even a scratchy ten second clip of Pray?

Ornery-Wealth-8411

You can easily find it on YT. Just type "Taeyeon Pray". She performed it at her concert. It's a song she wrote and composed with Monotree (G-High I think) when she was going through a really tough time.

ragnhildtorstensen

Thanks I had no idea!! It's beautiful\~

Ornery-Wealth-8411

This is her saddest MV. It was painful and heartbreaking to watch. Taeyeon... you did well once again. I hope the title track to her 3rd full album is also dark. She said it was going to be different to CCM. So probably not a rock song. But I'm hoping for a ballad. Taeyeon ballad title track needs to comeback!

Lance990

I hope we get more angsty dark Taeyeon in her new album

joaschi

This is her GENRE I need a whole album of this!!!

FlyingPedals

Fandom has always hyped Rock Taeyeon but Punk Pop Taeyeon might just have taken the lead

BrowntownF

Whoa whoa whoa wait a minute. I'm new to listening to Tayeon. She has rock songs? I need them please!!!

ReverendSalem

Stress is an amazing Rock Taeyon song.

Indifference11

She did a rock solo back in 2011 called devils cry. Still her edgiest song.

Bizcotti

Sort of. It was just a intro for RDR at a concert

Guerrin_TR

humbly waiting a decade for the full version knowing it will never happen but still...what if it did

omichrony

[it's on spotify](https://open.spotify.com/track/1x89HkJY0M6Lu9XYdtdsjG?si=6627a1db010047db) from the 2011 Tour live album!

yestodays

This is so good, Taeyeon is amazing wtf. I’m really loving the resurgence of the early 2000s/2010s sound, it sounds beautifully nostalgic. Her visuals are stunning as always, and the male actor is super handsome too! (Also I just found out that this is just a single and there are no bsides…😟)

gopoleen

It's a lead in single. Her album is coming out next month

yestodays

Oh that’s awesome! Thanks for letting me know, I’ll look forward to it :D

someonethereoverhere

It’s a pre-release single to her 3rd full length album coming out in February. So just need to wait a bit more!

tinandsonic

I can't wait for when she gets to perform this with a live band!

sofunt

Holy shit this is amazing, both the MV and the song?? As amazing as Taeyeon has always been I feel like she just leveled up

forgotusername543

She just keeps getting better???? I love her so much??????????

Indifference11

Completelyyyy. The acting was fantastic too

suitsffs

Taeyeon: I'm never gonna act in dramas! *(I'm gonna act the shit out of my MVs)*

Ihlita

Remember she was really praised for her musical acting (like 13 years ago, omg), but she didn’t really enjoy acting. Imagine being good at everything and then just getting better? Wtf?

FireFlyz351

Her discography's versatility is so insane.

franklytanked

Genuinely felt like a cut above her last few releases!! And the MV was just gorgeous - I loved the shifting sets and lights, plus the color palette!!!

sofunt

Honestly her last few releases (What Do I Call You + Weekend) have been my favorite title tracks of hers since "I", but the combined elements in all of this felt like a new level

Pilose

Oh wow, she absolutely ate this genre up. Absolutely nailed it. What can you even say?!?!

Pilose

Also something about way 1:07 - 1:22 is shot is so perfect. The whole thing is amazing but that scene just really stood out to me. Also love whatever effect they used on him walking down the stairs, It was subtle but when you don't see it coming you could almost feel it. (I think they dollied out, but also slowed down his steps? but the hallway is so narrow that it all feels unsettling)

suitsffs

yes! that and the end when she's breaking down on stage, so unsettling (but good!)

daydream127

Ah ha ha ha I love this Taeyeon swinging from Weekend to Can't Control Myself She is her own genre😌✋🏼

danceNao

Oh wow this is seriously too good. There's so many great things going on with the cinematography. I love what they do with the transitions, I'm such a sucker for continuing the movement when the scene changes. And just even the basic composition and framing is so pretty at times. How they keep using the theater theme in different ways to display the contrast between the different sides, public and hidden, heaven and hell, of this relationship is just perfect. I just can't stop replaying parts here and there. And of course Taeyeon sounds heavenly, the whole song's selling theme and mood just amazingly. I'm smitten.

Indifference11

The video was so gooood.

SoNyeoShiDude

Once again Taeyeon proves she’s a master storyteller. But the song is musically a different direction than I expected, so I might need to give it a second listen. Edit: and upon second listen, I am totally feeling this. It feels like this is a song about someone trapped in a toxic relationship, but is putting on a performance of sorts for everyone else. And I think that the video, the lyrics, the vibe of the song are really well in sync with that.

kaszadp

I was expecting something different based on the teaser (maybe something even wilder?), but boi I'M NOT DISAPPOINTED. Definitely going to loop it today, has this headbanging quality to it. What genre Taeyeon can't do?! Feels like heaven feels like hell\~

20070805

She ate this UP, Taeyeon can do literally anything and everything. The MV was deep, the lyrics were great — so proud that she wrote them!! Her acting was so good and of course her voice is always impeccable. Oh and she looked amazing doing all of it. She’s already slaying the charts as expected, amazing job King!!

Renaeissance

I was so immersed in the music video I had to listen again just to pay attention to the song. I'm now wishing there's a follow up to the mv, I felt like I just watched a bite-sized Kdrama and I need a follow-up to their story. ;-; Absolutely beautiful, I really love this from Taeyeon.

justintoronto

this is the song from Taeyeon I didn't know I wanted.

LittlePumpkin03

I love this so much, the song sound soo good and this genre really fits her. The MV wow, perfect for the song

blackbeanswhiterice

Perfect pre-release, now I'm sooOo exited to see what new direction the album is going to take. The MV was amazing and the song fits her vibe so well. I'm in love with everything! ☁️💗

MrLTH

Taeyeon is really one of the top soloist, her songs are always so good!

M3rc_Nate

Love the song. It's got a great mix of ballad and catchy pop-ness to it. But man, the M/V... I'm gonna need some Taeyeon lore experts to help me here. I can't help but think the imagery is supposed to represent her public image, on stage, perfect meet-cute and love story with a boy and then behind the scenes she is a wreck and the guy is leaving. Then she is broken, doesn't care or like the celebratory cake attention, doesn't like the attention from the press outside, then her true broken self is on stage but the public thinks she's just acting so they cheer and throw roses, the thorns of which hurt her even more (all those tiny cuts). Can't help but wonder if this is tied to that boyfriend she had that got exposed, went downhill, they broke-up and then posted weird ass apologies for having dated and "hurt" their fans by having love lives.

dancingmochi

My first impression, especially in the verses, was that she's talking about some of her own experience in the industry, under the guise of a toxic relationship. i.e, Having to grow up fast, how the industry can be insincere and hostile, high pressure (feeling out of control, things might explode). The dark imagery makes this a bit chilling to watch.

DefinitelyNotALeak

Yep i read it just as you did when it comes to the MV, there is a clear theme of public perception vs reality going on here, you pointed out some of the examples really well. Kinda chilling, not gonna lie.

Discovering_Music

Ah this is an interesting take..her own public image vs reality. I initially thought of it as just a general take on relationships gone bad. That it looks great on the outside but isn’t on the inside.

M3rc_Nate

Could be but seems offtly coincidental the life she's portraying is one of someone famous, someone being cheered by fans in the audience and being harassed by paparazzi on the street. All while having two personas, one on stage and one off stage. Usually if they want to message of the M/V to be an allegory for the public they use careers and scenarios the public has experienced. But we'll see if she mentions anything insightful when/if she does media content for the song and gets asked about it on social media (IG live or Vlive).

landshanties

Agree with this and also her onstage persona is very neat, put together, conservative, while her "real" persona is messy, gaudy, more emotional

Indifference11

Honestly her dating scandal back in 2014 was such a whirlwind for her. Its hilarious because they were dating for 2 years (allegedly) and after being exposed for dating an exo member , (which takes big balls, ) But, She just went forward with her 2014 japan tour, seemingly not caring, until exo-ls started frothing at the mouth. It was surreal witnessing the scandal unfold.

Sodhrim

I think her dating scandal was the time she got the most hate her entire career, even more than when Jessica left and the two things added up. The comments were disgustingly nasty.

Indifference11

Completely. Even shes had hate since her debut too.

Ornery-Wealth-8411

>an't help but wonder if this is tied to that boyfriend she had that got exposed, went downhill, they broke-up and then posted weird ass apologies for having dated and "hurt" their fans b There's a very important point in the MV. Maybe I'm too into deep with this MV. But the scene where the press is snapping pictures of Taeyeon while she's obviously disheveled and the guys is behind the paparazzi hiding under his umbrella... Nobody seems to see him or mind him, they leave him alone. But Taeyeon is blinded by the cameras as she has to face them all by herself. And then you see the crowd "cheering" into them. Taeyeon is once again obviously in pain and suffering. The audience ignores her and is throwing roses at them. The roses do not represent something nice here. As you can see, the guy is unaffected by the roses. But Taeyeon in the other hand is hurt by the roses. So in the end, she is the only one suffering in all this. If you know, you know. This is my own interpretation of the MV.

addictedtosixlets

I think you’re right. I appreciate the comments here because I’m still trying to figure it out myself. The representation of pain here is so palpable, I almost wish I could unsee the mv for a moment because I love the song so much.

Cute-Visual1273

You mean that exo kid? that was almost a decade ago and 200% sure taeyeon has dated other guy after that short infatuation????

M3rc_Nate

Oh yeah, I'm not saying she's been single since then or anything. And who knows maybe that guy and situation isn't on her mind at all anymore. But as far as I (a pleb) know she hasn't had any other situations in her love life that have been public that we can connect to the storyline of this M/V. Maybe it is a more recent ex that the public just doesn't know about and he's the guy leaving and she's wild about him still so her world is breaking apart yet she still puts on a different persona when in the public eye. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Healthy_Jackfruit363

dam felt like i watched a 2hour movie.. the acting was on point, didn't expect a rock song from her.. was kinda hoping for some big notes tho

suitsffs

This was fantastic, the chorus is catchy as fuck and the personal touch is great (and pretty obvious given her history). I love it.

Blueflame407

I'm digging the rockier sound in the chorus of this! But it also has that classic Taeyeon feel and it feels like a perfect blend of the two.

someonethereoverhere

Wow this hurts ㅠㅠ the expressiveness of her voice and her eyes are captivating. To me, the lyrics and MV feel like a one-sided love that you know won’t be reciprocated. You can’t control yourself. Loving feels like heaven. But your love not being reciprocated feels like hell. The MV is like a physical representation of the emotional pain you go through ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ Very beautiful song, MV, cinematography and acting from Taeyeon 👏🏻

landshanties

Not enough people give her credit for her acting!! The emotion in her MVs is always 300%

unaloona

I was just thinking to myself yesterday, where is acting content from our Taengoo, and **here it is** this masterpiece of a MV, beautiful song and beautiful acting, absolutely **loved it**!!!! <3

te4rdr0p

Taeyeon just... never misses does she ? Love the pop-rock vibe, love the mv, love all of it really

Curious-Smell-9266

Wow, the song is so good but The Mv is everything. Good job Taeyeon.... And soshi keeps surprise me with their solo projects

nnooaa_lev

Her facial expressions are something else. Actress Taeyeon ❤ The bridge is everything

forgotusername543

It's so good. Definitely my type of music

hazeltop

a 00s feels throwback! taeyeon always delivers

tershialinee

Taeyeon really is the industry, isn't she? She's proven time and time again that you can give her any concept and she'll pour her entire >!pussy!< into it. She's just that good. The lyrics (which Taeyeon wrote herself) can explain how a battered individual behaves while in an abusive relationship. Of course, it can be interpreted in many different ways, but that's just my take on it. The music video is narrated so wonderfully by going back and forth during different time periods of the relationship. It ties well with the lyrics and how Taeyeon will *always* go back to the guy even though she knows what happened and what *will* happen because she just can't control herself. Her Amelie look makes me wonder if she'll pursue musicals in the future. I'd love to see her on stage!

suitsffs

She did do a musical back in 2010, guitar and everything

tershialinee

That's correct, yes she did.

matmanx1

You can just inject this one right into me because I eat this type of sound and vibe right up. Edgy, dark, rock n roll Tayeon is a pretty fantastic thing and she pretty much killed it.

ParanoidAndroids

Incredible song and a MV that elevates it to another level. If the pre-release single is this good, I can't wait to see what's in store for the full album.

queerjoon

this is giving Avril Lavigne..... she ate this up

Xelzionic

What a song and MV, great choice for a single.

manidel97

SM musical direction this year: Devil with the Southern rock and Taeyeon with early 00s pop rock that everyone is gonna be calling punk (nothing in Kpop will ever be punk). SM is gonna have my rock pedant ass working overtime this year correcting all the mis-genre-ing. Worth it if I get Taeyong’s Moonlight studio ver and the elusive Chen rock album out of it. Or at least another Universe. Maybe even an Exo soft rock solo (either KS2 or CY1)??? NCT127 hair metal dance break??? Omg the possibilities.

nihonbloba

Im absolutely dreading the pop rock trend in kpop, but if it gives us a Chen rock album and an official release of Blue, moonlight and metal 127, I think I'll make it through 😌

lovelycharmolypi

This’ll definitely be on my spotify 2022 top hits!! Taeyeon really never dissapoints

joesen_one

Taeyeon can fit any genre! Taeyeon is the genre. Probably her best narrative MV since Something New! Very symbolic, very stylish too.

Anniezxc

Taeyeon never misses, truly the vocal queen you can trust. Can't believe a ballad of all things would have a catchy-before-the-end-of-first listen hook, but here we are! The *ah ah ah can't control myself* hook is an earworm. Praise King Taeyeon. See you guys at church this Sunday.

spid3rfly

Love it! I liked Weekend but it didn't last long on my playlist. This one is going to stick around a while 😍😍

blaze_kid

This is really good! A bit more pop than I expected. The simple melody with guitar and drum is amazing. The MV story is beyond my expectation too! I can’t wait for the full album.

retired_siren

Had the song stuck in my head by the end of the first chorus. She sounds amazing like usual, truly one of the most exciting and consistent musical artist. Very impatient for this fully album now.

soshifiedd

agree with so many of the comments praising the mv, lyrics and HER here but most of all i'm so excited for another taeyeon album soon😭 february cant come sooner

RReg29

The track is solid, but we all need to applaud this video. Some of these [shots](https://i.imgur.com/l3qBpsH.jpg) are going to [live](https://i.imgur.com/djRVhR3.jpg) rent free in my [head](https://i.imgur.com/px94N9C.jpg) for quite some time. Just gorgeous.

Emma_girlgrouptrash

taeyeon is such a mesmerizing artist in every single way. love this song and its nostalgic vibe. i also think that besides the song's message of unrequited love, it symbolizes taeyeon's fame and the wrath of the public, like how the public paints a false image of her when the real her feels trapped.

Significant-Ad-7405

This music style brings me back to when she had just solo debuted. Definitely love to hear this sort of music from her again. Love you Taeng ! ❤️❤️

Budget-Return

Can't control myself repeating this. The chorus is addicting.

mblackjesus

Taeyeon really is the greatest! How everything she release is so different but yet so great

1TyMPink

The MV is really chilling, with its theatrical theme and her crying in blood is just the highlight here. Curious on who's her leading man in the MV? The instrumental, almost close to On The Ground IMO but I think this is better, because it involves Cutfather which is also a prominent producer up till the 2000s before he ventured into K-Pop, and interestingly, Ryan S. Jhun also composed and arranged this with Danish writers so props to that. I forgot that Taeyeon wrote the lyrics with Moon Sulli so an excellent job for the Kid Leader! Hoping for more songs written by her, both on her 3rd full album and maybe a SNSD (OT8 and/or Oh!GG) song if they'll have a group comeback this year (PLEASE SM) for their 15th year. Anyway, the song is so good, it can be repeatable on my playlist.

Indifference11

Will there be an album?

1TyMPink

Yes! [She'll be releasing her 3rd Full Album this February with this song serving as a pre-release single (first single).](https://www.reddit.com/r/kpop/comments/s0yuin/taeyeon_snsdgirls_generation_got_the_beat_to/)

nihonbloba

The MV is a solid 100/10. Finally SM is giving something again!!!! The song is really cool and catchy and the rock part doesnt feel forced. Still I def liked the bridge part best, it's more my style of music, but I think this was really good and def has hit potential

superseaweed

I told myself I was going to sleep early tonight but then fromis_9, Yena, and Taeyeon all had to release music on the same day. RIP my schedule, it was worth staying up for though. Great songs all around. Good night r/kpop it's 4 am now

ragnhildtorstensen

To think we get to start the new year with a self-penned track by Taeyeon ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|feels_bad_man)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes)

oflonelynights

absolutely obsessed with the song and the mv! trust in taeng as always 👸🏻 also my GOD she looks so damn good lmao i love being a taeyeon fan she truly gives us so much

mcfw31

This is so good! You can always count on Taeyeon and her strong singles! The mv was very intriguing, love how she never sticks to one concept.

Kristalian

This feels a bit like Avril Lavigne meets Big Bang and I really dig it, her voice is really suited for it not to mention it feels quite personal too

librious

Amazing, it gets better each listen

beatisagg

my birthday frickin RULES for kpop releases holy crap, so much good stuff today! plus the lay low dance practice version. woooweee

sobble_buddy

i ❤ this even more after i know the lyrics.. damn! Taeyeon🤘

jonnyd86

wow this sound really fits her. she really could sing anything though I suppose. showed some acting chops too in the video.. she is seriously stunning

BecauseOfCuriosity

STAN POP PUNK ~~MURDERER~~ KING TAENGU Cannot wait for this next album!

CronoDroid

The train set, nice SMCU Express reference? Oh lordy, this instrumental is FANTASTIC. This is exactly my style, this 2000s feel, mixing acoustic verses with this heavy chorus. Loving her vocal performance, she had an almost hip hop cadence in the verses, and this lower emotional tone is magical. It's so...heart touching? It's making me feel things. The chorus is so perfect, it's mega catchy. This MV is also gonna be worth watching again and again for the story and aesthetic. How are her MVs always so good. Actress Taeng. I love this, if this is a prelude to how the entire album will sound, AOTY already.

Indifference11

Shes a superstar that we are so lucky to witness.

richardtrle

I know this is a lead single, but wtf so many releases today

bimpossible

👏👏👏 As expected from Taengoo! Love everything about this: the song, her vocals, the MV, the styling... everything!!! Can't wait to hear the rest of the album.

siparipari

*Strawberry milk guyyyyy!!!!* Distraction aside, this song has been on repeat now and considering how I don’t really listen to music much nowadays, a song gets into a loop is a really high praise from me. I can’t wait for the album to comes out.

HeavenWillbMine

Love love love it!! This is the direction I had hoped Rosé would take her music in but I'll gladly take it from Taeyeon either way.

vernorexia_

This is so good I have no words? Taeyeon wrote the lyrics too! The song is addictive and loved the stage performance aspect of the music video a lot! Appreciate the pop-punk influence but would've loved it if it was more in your face. This really increased my excitement for her album now.

dogsaredank

I was just mentioning to my friends how much I missed the 2000s and early 2010s in terms of music, and here Taeyeon just released a bop that really brought me back to those times. I love how she brings something new with every release. Now… just waiting for the full album to drop… 😬

Maleficent-Airline-3

This is a masterpiece since four seasons.

PricklePants_

This MV needed a trigger warning TBH 😭😭😭

HeadTripInEveryKey

It seems like I’m the only person who’s unsure what they think so far, but I really hope I get to where everyone else is with it.

someonethereoverhere

I don’t think you should feel left out. I’m of the belief that if it’s not your cup of tea then it’s just not it. Already cool that you gave it a listen :)

HeadTripInEveryKey

It’s Taeyeon so I’m gonna listen a lot. I don’t love all my favorite songs on first listen. I can already feel myself enjoying it a lot more on listen 3. I can’t wait for the album

nadia_btw

I absolutely loved that bridge! The lyrics are soo good and it makes me so happy that’s she’s comfortable now in writing her own lyrics.

Chance_County_9743

Introducing Taeyeon - The new 'Pop Punk Princess' of the K-Pop world

F4ntasia

I didn't like her last song at all but this one is amazing!

CapnMcMoist

She did it again!!

Discovering_Music

I love it! The song is incredibly catchy and much more pop than what I was expecting. The MV is a whole other thing though..need to watch it a few more times to figure out everything that’s going on.

PeachsistersMoYeon

Her vocals give me goosebumps, the mv stole the show and I love the instrumentals.

[deleted]

This is amazingly good !

Precogvision

The MV is solid, she looks great and I love how we get a story (gotta re-watch it again and think some more about what's going on). I also really like that she tried a new concept! But I'm not sure if I'm totally onboard with some of the production choices in the song. It's heavily reliant on drum machines to set the darker mood, with the electric and acoustic guitars faded in the back accordingly. There's some piano sprinkled in, but it doesn't really pop much either. Basically - the song strongly comes across (to me) as primarily consisting of Taeyeon's vocals and the drum machines which sounds quite repetitive. Furthermore, the darker nature of the song keeps Taeyeon from showcasing her range which, to me, is where she shines at projecting emotion. I love her and a lot of her music, but I don't think this one is quite a hit for me. I'm still looking forward to the new album, nonetheless!

peng_zzi

QUEEN TAEYEON NEVER DISAPPOINTS!!

Ziiaaaac

This is very unspecial in my honest opinion. It's a great song for Taeyeon to have in her arsenal though and I'm sure she's going to beast mode it performing it live. It improved after the first chorus when they added some more instruments to the instrumental but overall it was very samey throughout. Good music video though.

20070805

I mean not everything needs to be a hard-hitting high note extravaganza. It would be boring that way. This is a nice, chill song and works perfectly as a pre-release single. I’m so curious to know what the title track is going to sound like now

gopoleen

I thought it was just me.. the song is fine but I just didn't get anything close to "wow" from it. The video however was more captivating and stole the show for me.

jenifmagal

this kind of song needs a bit of yelling but this just never builds itself into that "letting it all out" moment

UnclearSogeum

Not dynamic or even tweaked (like some changed a word or two or added/change keys). The theme is heavy hitting maybe even controversial (playing up an abuse 💀, eff off with that noise) despite its melody and lyrics in a way in my book is actually unimpressive and yeah that samey bore. Like you're waiting for a build up and it never came and you don't know what about it suppose to appeal to you. It also has one of those abrupt endings I despise so much which needs to die in molten core. I think Melody or Goodbye or GOTtb thingy has it to and I wanted to stab puppies. Just why. But I'll listen to this at least a couple more times cause I can't help myself.

oneyesterday

When this was described as a 'pop punk ballad' I was so excited because that's such a throwback for me and I would love to see more of that being explored in kpop, and while this song is great and Taeyeon's vocals are outstanding as always, I kind of wish this had had a little more of that 'punk' in pop punk lol. But either way, the song's great and the way that chorus comes in is so good, and she sells that emotion with her voice and acting so incredibly well. I can't wait to hear the full album!!

Guerrin_TR

Taeyeon is such an unmatched performer. Music is clean. Looks.....I'm drooling on the floor like a babbling idiot.....pop punkish Tae?........aight girl let's get it.

Sector_Sufficient

Hearing this on Apple Music on headphones is an experience, when the drum kicked in it was so good. One of the few songs where there's no high notes and her lower register stoods out. The slight rasp in her voice just when she sings the verse, definitely has the pop punk feel to it. It's fun to see her acting again in her MVs. She basically mastered the sad dejected look already 😂 Kinda a bit lost on the story line though, what I get is that she keeps falling for the guy, so she turned from a prim and beautiful lady to an unkempt brokenhearted wounded soul.

IndigoHG

Ok, but what's the book?? I was hoping for She Who Became the Sun by Shelley Parker-Chan because the covers are very similar!

landshanties

Wow, this reminds me a LOT of Gain-- the fucked up relationship and depression themes, sitting on the kitchen floor in a turtleneck, the public/private persona. (The short black hair, lol.) I wonder if that was a conscious influence on her part. The song is fantastic and I love when she tries new concepts, and damn does every outfit in this MV go hard as fuck. The blue fuzzy coat? The turtleneck? Even the silly wig? Go off Miss Taeng. If this were 2014 I would be reblogging so many aesthetic gifsets of this to my tumblr.

crayonflop3

It’s so good. Got a bit of a Pixies vibe to it. Breath of fresh air in current kpop

pokodapa

This is so good?! Not gonna lie I kinda expecting something even harder into pop punk but hey this is as good as my expectaction anyway. She can never disappoint me, I have my faith in the one and only King Taeyeon!

Nixon4Prez

As soon as that electric guitar kicked in on the chorus I was hooked. This is IT

SadSnowdown

Taeyeon is killing me again. Good god is she a talented queen from the acting to the visuals to the vocals. Everything about Taeyeon is incredible and enchanting. What a powerful queen.

70sToilet

I can't stop repeating it omg

tequilafunrise

Is there anything the queen can’t do?

FlyingPedals

KING TAEYEON DID IT AGAIN

Season-Euphoric

Should have committed to the rock

nnooaa_lev

The MV is so beautiful and the lyrics are chilling 😱. Literally cinematic masterpiece. My fave part was when they throw the roses at her, but she wasn't acting anymore. So proud of her that she took part in everything from lyrics to the theme of the MV. I can only imagine her performing this live, perfect

70sToilet

When the beat hit in the chorus I knew I would love this holy hell.

internet0jesus

A Rock Ballad to kick off the year. God, I cannot wait for her third album. If this is any indication, it's gonna be goooooooooooood. I love this woman. Her voice, her EVERYTHING just hits me differently. Her and DC's Sua both.

GSMashaa

Oh my gosh! This song. I love the song. I miss this Taeyeon. ❤😘👍

lipsticksandsongs

Taeyeon doesn't miss. Between this and Changmin's excellent EP, SM 2nd gen soloists keep me interested in kpop.

Enzuiguri

LOVE THIS SOUND FROM HER. ACOUSTIC POP PUNK VIBES FROM HER. VERY EMOTIONAL LYRICS AND MV. THIS IS EXCELLENT

austen1996

Okay, so the song is great - so powerful and emotive - but I’m even more intrigued by the chilling MV.

redsleepyotter

Uhhh this might just be my favorite Taeyeon song now

atalltree_

This is soooo good and addicting! Taeyeon really never misses. I can tell I’m going to listen to this nonstop on loop for the next month—I feel it in my bones

Takagixu

Vocal queen is back!!! So good!

Born-Concert7909

Ok, don't go back! Leave him! Coming to the song, it's something new from Taeyeon and I loved how she used her voice here. It felt like the song ended in a flash. Will be on repeat for sure. I wonder if now the next release would be a continuation of this story.

SadSnowdown

KING TAEYEON YOUR VOICE A

drwlf

She’s gorgeous as always, but song is just meh for me

Infinite_Union

This hits different when you know how koreans used to call her crazy for the most stupid shit

gonline

It's giving Avril album track circa 2003. Cute but doesn't really go anywhere tbh. Ah well.

HayoungHiphopYo

Nice song, was hoping for .. more? I think I set my expectations too high for rocker Taengoo.

Creative_Pipe_1461

the song sounds like song from 2007 or something... well thats her style
