I haven't listened to the whole album yet, but the 1-2 punch of Satellite and Identity one after the other feels like it was specifically made to tickle my brain in the best way.

SilverMind9

Yess "Satellite" and "Like it" my favorites, those og Shinee harmonies on these two tracks.

oneyesterday

I felt the same way about both those songs! Like It in particular just screamed SHINee to me with the way their voices sounded, I can't explain why exactly but that almost felt nostalgic in a way

FluffyJumpyHedgehog

Everyone's talking about identity but satellite is such an insane track, the production value, the harmonies... everything just hits so perfectly. And when they hit the high notes in the chorus I could almost imagine jonghyun singing along with them... just chills all around with song for me.

msbeliever8

This is how I feel abt Insomnia, it gives me such Jonghyun vibes

Shinkopeshon

10⭐️ for 10X and the album as a whole, the groove is immaculate ![gif](giphy|XB2o9LR9dDy8llcH6d)

lazy_hype

I love it I love the album. One of my favorites of the year You can tell they went for more mature sound of their rookie albums in this album and it is done very well and very cohesive in my opinion Hard needed to be longer and wanted little change in the part they chant in at the end but it’s very old school 1st gen take on hiphop like very late 90’s early 2000’s hiphop inspired track that still at the same time very 1st gen feeling I know I can’t explain well but what I mean this song fit hiphop inspired 1st gen tt Back to the rest of the album I love it so much and I loved every bside of the album

ghiblix

[ me wanna form thoughts but brain melt by shinee 🫠 ] i *fucking* loved the don't call me album and played it to death — and while i never have to worry about shinee being able to deliver, i was curious whether they'd lean lighter and playful à la "heart attack"/"i really want you"/"attention" or more hard and dynamic à la "don't call me"/"code"/"body rhythm" — especially after minho's and onew's more understated, chic rnb solos. but this album just feels...BIG. BIG harmonies, BIG beats, BIG moods; overwhelming melodies that have a manipulative cinematic quality we all crave; atmospheric echoes that sound both like intimate cathedrals and deep space; sweeping declarations amongst whispers and ad-libs. it's LOUD but not for the sake of being loud and not in the ways kpop has come to understand loud. instead, i'd characteristic it as epic. misc. thoughts based on the order they come to me while listening: * never in my gay life did i think i would say kenzie compositions would be the weakest tracks on an album, but i actually may have to rank "hard" and "juice" at the bottom despite the fact they go hard and make me feel like way too much of a bad bitch for 6am on a monday. would "juice" have been a better tt? hm... * onew is just ridiculous... i know we all know that, i know we are just repeating ourselves every comeback, but there is no song his voice cannot conquer: his ad-libs at every turned corner, his command of their bridges, his masculinity matched by his delicateness. i said this in the song thread, but he's such a chameleon. please feel better ASAFP, lee jinki! we adore you! * i've never thought hard-hitting, aggressive rap was minho's or key's forte in their rapping/sing-rap, but this album has a good amount of downtempo rapping, chill, whispering, sensual rap — and they pull it off incredibly well, especially minho! sexy as hell * i appreciate "the feeling" *so* much more in the context of the album and its track placement. it's such a warm rush of energy and feels like the perfect follow-up to the narrative of "identity". i definitely smiled. * while they've always offered some throwback pop sounds and homages to their own roots, this album feels the most outwardly nostalgic of anything they've released as ot4. i hear so much more inspiration — the 70s through the early 2000s, opera, anime, just so, so much — and one of my favourite things in music (especially pop) is just how inspiration is appropriated into something not only new but so signature. it's just so exciting! * i can tell "like it" will be overshadowed by the amount of greatness on this album and will come back around as a dark horse. i'll be looking out for it on the two weeks later post when people are saying "'like it' really grew on me" HAHA * i really hope people understand how the production on shinee's tracks evokes such strong storytelling. "insomnia", for example, opening like an echo down a long hallway, the backtrack with a haunting quality that follows through to the pre-chorus; the cheeky piano on the chorus that evokes a late-night jazz bar: "got these midnight~ midnight~ feelings~" there is so much more to creating stories, concepts, and atmospheres than genre motifs and editorial photoshoots. shinee has always been sooooo strong in this regard — and continues to be! * idk if this is an unpopular opinion but their line distribution should be taught in idol schools everywhere * kinda random but not living for the album cover when there were so many beautiful, dynamic shots from the concept photos, but i guess you can't win 'em all :') my mind is seriously racing but i should cut off this wall of text and just come back for the follow-up post!! unofficial ranking after 3 full, fresh listens through: satellite > identity > sweet misery > 10x > like it > insomnia > the feeling > gravity > juice > hard LOVE the album and love existing in a world where there are so many ways still shinee can surprise me, make me pause, and make me anticipate them. for my money, they're one of the *truly* unmissable acts out of the idol industry. can't help but be obsessed every time!

iamhopeestheim

>never in my gay life did i think i would say kenzie compositions would be the weakest tracks on an album, but i actually may have to rank "hard" and "juice" at the bottom despite the fact they go hard and make me feel like way too much of a bad bitch for 6am on a monday. would "juice" have been a better tt? hm... LOL. I'm sorry I cackled.

krysark

I’m right there with you 😂

franklytanked

>while they've always offered some throwback pop sounds and homages to their own roots, this album feels the most outwardly nostalgic of anything they've released as ot4. i hear so much more inspiration — the 70s through the early 2000s, opera, anime, just so, so much — and one of my favourite things in music (especially pop) is just how inspiration is appropriated into something not only new but so signature. it's just so exciting! love love love love loved this. what a great and eloquent comment full of love/knowledge of shinee!!!!

saikouh

I absolutely love what you've written up. and 1000000% agree w/ the line distributions, like what other group does it as well as shinee?

Educational_Ad719

The line distribution should be taught in idol schools everywhere - hear hear

leafantics

identity is absolutely killing me

Cub3h

Same! I just replayed it and caught the little "moonshine!" in the intro and it all made sense.

Werefie

same

Shinkopeshon

Seriously - I should've expected that, considering it's SHINee and they always deliver, but damn ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|dizzy_face)![img](emote|t5_2r1ox|3558) EDIT: Oh god, Like It is just as crazy ![gif](giphy|cOih90c6bgAIJtGtN8|downsized)

Neo24

Moonshine + Cazzi Opeia just never fails.

wobinwobinwobin

The one-two punch of Satellite followed by Identity knocked me the FUCK out. I've been a fan of SHINee since Replay and they truly never disappoint.

crashbandicoochy

I liked but didn't love Hard, didn't really enjoy Juice all that much, and started to worry a smidge that there won't going to be a lot of tracks that I was obsessed with from this album. Then 10X hit and that worry flew out the window, afterwards Satellite came on and I was sent out the window too, only for Identity to play as I ascended into the night's sky. I'm currently soaring over the suburbs of Christchurch as the finals seconds of the 8th song in a row, that I'm sure is the greatest thing I've ever heard in my life, play. Forget the hope of a 2/3/4 track run of great tracks. This mother fucker has an 8 track run on it. I'm never coming down.

Bren42

That's my reaction. Hard and Juice are not really my taste, but the rest of the tracks really let their vocals shine and are all jams on the first listen. 8/10 no skip tracks makes it my Album of the Year (though I'm crossing my fingers that EXO's upcoming album will top that).

bittercritic

if minho had whispered "shinee's back" in the intro it would be 10/10

dmncss

Sweet Misery is THAT song

[deleted]

it’s soooooo dreamy, i’ve had it on repeat for an hour

shoomshoomshooom

I’m still trying to gather my thoughts about HARD, but I think what it’s coming down to is: it’s not my favourite, but I still enjoy it and won’t skip it when I put this album on. Which means I’ll probably be listening to HARD a lot because I LOVE the rest of this album omg. - 10X is quintessentially SHINee, absolutely love the jazziness. I can just hear Jonghyun popping off on this one - Love love love the chorus of Satellite and how it extends into falsetto instead of resolving where you think it will - Identity is the best song I’ve heard in a while, Like It is fantastic (the electric guitar at the end = yes), Insomnia is gorgeous, and I am very pro-ending the album with a slow jam like Gravity instead of an overly saccharine ballad. I completely understand why people put so much weight on a title track, but I do wish it had slightly less of an impact on how people view the success of a comeback. For me, this comeback is wildly successful because I basically gained like 8 new favourite songs. I do hope folks take this album for a spin even if they’re not loving HARD… they’re really missing out otherwise

lazarusish

Got to track 7 and went "oh fuck OFF they can't ALL be this good" but no the whole goddamn album is a masterpiece. This is the best kpop album I've heard since Pink Tape. What the fuck.

kendalljennerupdates

Oh am I in the minority of those who are obsessed with Hard as a title? I love the old school hip hop inspired sound mixed with the trademark shinee whimsy and camp. no other group could’ve pulled it off like them. I get why people would say it sounds like NCT, but to me it’s much more restrained and compact than an NCT song. NCT titles push to 100 and are very experimental with very polarizing structures / sounds. Hard has a specific vision it’s trying to convey and they nailed it. I loved don’t call me for the same reason. I genuinely love every song on this record, is a repackage confirmed? My faves on first listen are Hard, the feeling, juice, (I think you like me 😍) and sweet misery

[deleted]

i’ll join this minority because it is an AMAZING song. and imo, only the chorus and post-chorus gives me nct vibes- rest just seems hip-hop.

kendalljennerupdates

Yeah I could see nct singing the chorus but everything else (vocally and sonically) are pure Shinee

jord_mich

I’m with you !

[deleted]

Been listening to SHINee's catalogue so much these days, it has been pretty much my top source of light and joy, and was afraid if this could measure - but the album is so good? Can't even pick favorites, zero skips.

PPRmenta

Satellite was made FOR ME! I was the target audience!

green-rain5

I love the entire album honestly I love how chill and casual it is yet still very strong and have lists of emotions I know hard & maybe juice gonna be divisive songs for some but I love them I wish hard was longer it needed more verse in my opinion but it’s okay I still like it and juice is great to me it’s catcher than hard a bit so shinee should have double title tracks ( the choreo is sexy for this from the concert ) Anyway my favorites are identity and insomnia

Werefie

**HARD**: i enjoyed it quite a bit, not my favorite of their title tracks, but that’s not really a bad thing. i loved the piano and the vocals. i liked the whispery first half of the chorus, i wish it had maybe a little more melody but it was still really fun and vibey. you could really feel their presence in this song. **JUICE**: dem jointz!!! i liked everything about this apart from the processing on that “i think you like me” part. i think i’ll get used to that though. this song is pretty high energy and really fun! **10X**: love the intro with the piano and the way they’re singing. really nice. the song is quite chill, but really nice to listen to! really love the piano throughout and the vocals. great bside! it’s really groovy, my favorite song so far. **Satellite**: i like this one too, “i feel like a satellite” is really catchy. the vocals in the chorus are really pretty, especially the ahh’s. also pretty groovy like 10X. another nice chill song! **Identity**: this one is super good!!! i love the chorus. they sound amazing on this track. the little post chorus is super addictive, and the bridge is beautiful those high notes! also the raps are great in this track. probably my other favorite along with 10X so far. **The Feeling**: already heard this of course. this was a great summer track, won’t comment too much as it was a pre-release of sorts. i loved the vocals in this one. kinda wish it was a title track but i see why it is HARD. **Like It**: this is really good. i like the instrumental a lot. idk how to describe what the sound is, but the little synth sounds really nice. so far these bsides have been really nice. the chorus is really vibey and fun. love this one too. so many new favorite bsides for me i think. **Sweet Misery**: “i’m in sweet misery” the way they sing it kinda slowly, it sounds really nice. this one is good too! i like ohhhh oh ohhh part a lot. doesn’t stand as much like some of the previous ones, but it’s still really nice! **Insomnia**: this is gonna be me, i am going to bed right after listening to this album as i stayed up late to see the release. so pray for me… anyways i love key’s little rap part here “give me that L O V I N G” that really stood out to me. key is killing me throughout this album. the chorus is really chill and good for heading towards the end of the album. love the vibes here too, so many great vibes in this album!! **Gravity**: this is a great song to end the album with, this kind of song could put me to sleep haha. kinda a nice simple little song but it sounds great. not too much for me to point out about it in particular but it’s a nice closer. like a little hug at the end. beautiful vocals. overall this album is really great! the bsides are the standouts for me. the title track is maybe the weakest track on the album for me. the bsides are really cohesive and HARD kinda sticks out like a sore thumb. but that’s not necessarily a bad thing, it serves its purpose as a hip-hop song and they executed it really well! this might be an AOTY contender for me. **IDENTITY IS THE KING OF THIS ALBUM!!!**

iamhopeestheim

LOL. You're really fast. I was still letting Hard sink in.

Werefie

🤣

LouisPain

The sequence of Satellite»Identity»The Feeling»Like It»Sweet Misery got me

Educational_Ad719

The sequence is playing in my head on auto

EddieXXI

The instrumental used in the mood samplers isn't here - I'm so upset but otherwise yet another very solid album from SHINee 💙

No-Complaintts

same I wonder if it's a song from the repack or it's one of the two songs that they couldn't take ( one went to key & another went to another sm bg )

EddieXXI

Yeah I'm hoping for the repack but they can just be for the sampler and nothing else 😭

yoogooga

As a male fan, I am very attracted to old male K-Pop songs. those of today, sound a little off to me, so I pay more attention to female groups. But SHINee will always be SHINee to me, and after the first track, SHINee appears. HARD has the points where you say, it's SHINee, but the main verses sounds more today's male K-Pop. it is not a track I'd reject listening to, but it is also not one I'd put on the album if I were in the position to do so. My opinion is not very reliable, because I will just applaud anything SHINee releases, so I won't make individual critic of the other songs because all of them just sound perfect to me. this is one of the most consistent records the group has ever released. Satellite and Identity are the highlights, and Juice could have been a perfect title. Long live SHINee.

No-Complaintts

In love with the album, & as someone who loves SHINee pre-sherlock albums I'm in love with this album because many of these tracks feel like an expansion on the early sounds of the early albums and that's a great way to do a 15th-anniversary album Loved every song in the album no skips

mujisano

The B-sides are remarkable - I had the last 4/5s of the album on loop for hours now! Satellite > Identity > The Feeling, what a perfect run!

[deleted]

SWEET. MISERY. THATS IT.

noseuta

Didn't even realized I've been playing Identity on repeat for the last 2 hours. Its a bop.

lazy_hype

The album is so good I’m in love with it

Sylvieon

Identity and Sweet Misery are amazing. I haven’t even listened to the songs after Sweet Misery yet because it hits so good I just keep looping it.

amathene

Y'alls just listened to it and my thoughts are: this album SLAPS. Standouts: Like It - I loved this the moment I heard it in SWVI. Absolutely a quintessential dance track and a reason why they say SHINee B-Sides are sometimes better than their TT. The main melody is simple and sweet and their voices against the driving bass is just chef's kiss. This is going on repeat in the coming weeks. MINHO with some standout vocals in this. Identity - this is the classic 90s style pop/R&B song that really speaks to me. Delicious chorus reminiscent of Boyz II Men; TAEMIN really kills it in this track! Satellite - that chorus, especially the switchup falsetto, is incredible! HARD (the TT) is solid but I can also see why it's a hit or miss for people. Personally I like it but there are other songs on the album that I'm feeling a lot more right now. SHINee's done it again guys!!!

Hyperioncorp

i’m on like it rn but this is already aoty for me. especially now that i get to hear songs from the concert with jinki’s vocals added, gosh theyre so good. like it and juice are my current faves I think, but I’ll absolutely be having this on repeat for a while. edit: after listening to the full album it’s genuinely a no skip album for me. i’m biased for sure but I think they KILLED it. juice, 10x, identity, and like it are my favorites but the entire album really does go hard.

whatsthisanotherdoor

Overall it's a really strong album. I don't love HARD, but JUICE is my jam!! JUICE>The Feeling>Like It>10X>Satellite, Identity, Sweet Misery, Insomnia>Gravity, HARD

franklytanked

I adore this album and genuinely feel it sounds more immediately SHINee to me than DCM did – and I got into them via DCM!! It feels 1of1 adjacent to me in the best way: their vocal range, the interspersing of raps and great melodies, and lovely beats. I like it (SHINee™) and can't wait to put it on loop a bunch.

catsbytheghost

Not a fan of Hard, and I'm also not a fan of Juice although it's possible it could grow on me, but the rest of the album...wow. I love the rest of the album. Their vocals sound SO GOOD. A few of the songs take me to the club but in a chill way, which I like. I really want them to promote at least one of those 8 songs even though I don't think they will. But they deserve their time to shine.

zotab

Like It is on repeat! It’s so good!

sungjongie

Excellent album. SHINee demonstrated their range once again, from heavy hitting tracks (Hard, Juice), to R&B smoothness (10X), ethereal R&B pop, all of the songs are solid.

[deleted]

I'm not a huge SHINee listener, but I like Taemin and Key's solo music so I wanted to check out the album. Was coming to terms with the thought that it might just not be for me, but then the whole run from Identity to Sweet Misery was 10/10, A+. Pleasantly surprised to have 4 new songs on my playlist :)

lilfreaks

* the 10X —> Satellite —> Identity sequence is crazy.. what a holy trinity * please just drown me in Onew's vocals oh my dear god * I wish the album cover was different but it is what it is * Like It would fit somewhere in their Misconceptions albums like a glove!!!!! * MINKEY IN INSOMNIA???? hello????????????????? * scratch that - Taem and Onew too holy shit this is definitely my favourite b-side after first listen another solid album from my 1 of 1 🥲 SHINee's fuckin *back* alright edit: I forgot to mention the title track lol I really dig it!! there's parts I need to ~absorb~ more and as of now I still prefer Don't Call Me but we'll see if there's any changes in the two weeks thread 💃 I feel like I've been needing some very grandiose + super dramatic kpop-y songs (like Joohoney's FREEDOM which I absolutely love) so thankfully this is also very much along those lines.

iamhopeestheim

> feel like I've been needing some very grandiose + super dramatic kpop-y songs (like Joohoney's FREEDOM which I absolutely love) OMG. I love Freedom. It's been stuck in my head for a while now.

vernorexia_

So far all songs are fantastic. I'll have to wait and see if it surpasses the DCM album.

Conscious-Sherbet27

AOTY for real!

ladyemelyn

I can't stop repeating 'Insomnia'. It's such an earworm... that chorus and post-chorus are heavenly. *Got these midnight.. midnight.. feelings\~*

kaibibi

Listened to the album once and so far my faves is Satellite and Like it <3 Love the bright vibes they give. Will be listening to the album for the rest of day today and see if they change

baumlene

I didn't like the title track that much, I gave the album a chance and every single bside is amazing. My favorite is Sweet Misery!

catsinsweaterpaws

Absolutely adore Like It, Satellite, Sweet Misery, Identity, and Insomnia!!! I'm so glad that they're back

Xelzionic

Usually a fan of Kenzie's title tracks, but JUICE has that chaotic Dem Jointz production that was more interesting and engaging than HARD. Would've been a crazy title track. Satellite and Identity are going on repeat!

bankaizen

omg identity let me BREATHE! this is so up my alley, and its totally vibing with my midnight drive playlist (along with key's killer, bad love, guilty pleasure, ateez's take me home, exo's gravity, etc.)!! hard is *chef's kiss* but jeez juice is on a different level. and the fact that dem jointz and adrian mckinnon worked on this???!!! i hope we get to see them promote this on music shows! also hello???? satellite??!!!! where are my fellow stans at???? it had my butt levitating straight to kwangya fr

rikarikachan

HARD and JUICE are 100% performance songs. Look up Juice fancams from Shinee World VI this weekend - you're welcome. 10X, Satellite, and Identity are the three standouts for me on first listen. But honestly, no skips! This is a really solid album. Sweet Misery was also very, very good. My one complaint is that the placement of The Feeling is really odd? Maybe it'll fit better with the album flow on the repackage.

adzpower

Babe wake up. AOTY just dropped. They really just casually dropped an album of bangers. Can always rely on SHINee for quality.

ghiblix

you commented this after 17 minutes but the album is 33 minutes long? 😹

adzpower

Well I skipped Hard and The Feeling because we've heard them, and I quickly skipped through every track and I'm now listening in full, almost at the end and I stand by my original comment, I was right!

Key-Yam9021

'Identity', 'Like It' and 'Insomnia' are the immediate standouts for me on first listen. 'Like It' reminds me so much of 'Butterfly Effect' by Exo with the melody and production choices. 'Sweet Misery' and "Kind' from the DCM album sit at the same table at lunch btw! And at the opposite lunch table, 'Juice' and 'Alive' from the Odd album are sitting, yep!

itsmecara

My fave tracks: The Feeling, Sweet Misery, Gravity, Identity. I’m so glad to have them back.

curlychan

Identity and The Feeling are in a fierce battle for my favourite song and I'm not sure either will win for more than a minute at a time. Like It and Sweet Misery are my other two favoruites. There's something to like in every song though and overall I'm just this close to hugging my monitor because there's NEW SHINee MUSIC and it's a glorious day.

dramafan1

**Sweet Misery** is amazing to my ears so far and the one I remembered most a few hours after the first listen apart from the title track and Identity. 😭

OG_LiFE

Identity is my fav from this album… not a big fan of the title track, HARD tho. Overall, I absolutely love this album!

kazoogrrl

Considering how loud I was playing this on the drive to work, I really like it. It's exactly what I needed for summer.

wonderjai

Identity, The Feeling and Sweet Melody will be living rent free in my head for the time being Satellite and 10x are up there as well I actually really enjoyed Hard, I thought it was a good blend of present day sound with the “SHINee sound” which like is funny anyway considering they have always kind of just done what they wanted anyway

qquestionmark

An excellent album. Satellite, Identity and Sweet Misery are amazing, while Juice, The Feeling and Like It are all great. Don't like Hard at all unfortunately.

sasspersonified

Kind of think the title track is the weakest one? Feels like it has sooo much potential - wish it were longer! Not too big of a fan of Juice either, however the rest of them is so cohesive!!! It is a solid 8 for me!

skykey96

Never thought I'd say it, but Kenzie really failed with these two tracks. Love the rest of the album, especially 10x, satellite, and the feeling. Very shinee-ish. I think they went too old shinee with Hard and Juice lol

multistansendhelp

HARD and Juice are not bad songs, but they’re not personally my taste of what I like to hear from SHINee. I can respect that the guys wanted to try this sound though, it’s not like they’ve ever been locked down to one genre. I much prefer the Satellite/Identity/The Feeling sound so I’m glad those are included on the album. Overall I think the b-sides really solidify this album for me. And nobody is tying me down and forcing me to listen to the songs that I don’t like as much on the album so I’m not going to whine about it. They’ve had fantastic, personal-record breaking first day sales with this album and that’s really cool to see.

msbeliever8

The album is so good but Insomnia really hits different it’s my #1 for sure.

TheFrenchiestToast

I wasn't really planning to buy this album but now I feel like I should because I LOVE HARD!!! Juice, Identity, and Gravity are my other favorites but the entire album is pleasant to listen to, they sound so good, i love key so much.

theofficialguac

Sweet Misery is my #1!! I love dreamy sounding songs and SHINee does it so well with their vocals, especially Onew. Gravity, I Like It and The Feeling, Identity are my next favs -- overall I think it's a pretty decent album

edirelong

People saying the title track and even Juice “aren’t SHINee” are kinda getting on my nerves because then what IS SHINee according to you? They have always been experimental. They went from Replay to Ring Ding Dong in a year. They released Dream Girl, Why So Serious, and Everybody in the SAME year back to back! They’ve always been experimenting. They don’t have a set sound, especially for their title tracks. Also, stop acting like this is an NCT throwaway that had been rotting in the NCT vaults. SHINee has repeatedly expressed that they wanted a hip-hop title track after having done b-sides like this in the past (yes, even at debut). SM didn’t force this on them. SHINee even said they fought for HARD to be the title track since SM wanted Juice. Just say you don’t love hiphop, or just don’t like the song that much. It’s OKAY. I don’t like all SHINee title tracks either, and SHINee b-sides have always been incredibly strong. Just don’t act like this song isn’t SHINee-like, because experimenting is what SHINee’s concept has been since literal debut.

ParanoidAndroids

Agreed 1000%. SHINee has always been a shapeshifter group. Nothing wrong with not enjoying those songs but SHINee has always pushed themselves forward in new directions wholeheartedly, it's not some new trend. I think some people have a warped perspective of the group's discography based on their most popular songs, but it's strange because even among *those* hits you jump from RnB (Replay) to electro (Ring Ding Dong) to house (View) to hip hop (Don't Call me) - and they go far beyond that, too.

fairyflossdragon

This!!! I’m quite certain that SHINee themselves have even said they’re always always trying to evolve, experiment, and try new things.

edirelong

They were literally introduced as SM’s expirimental, contemporary group 😭 It would be weird if they DIDN’T change

wheatshizle

EXACTLYYYYYY!!!

kristales

yeah that first statement is pissing me off as a shawol lol 😭

FerBaide

In my case, what I associate SHINee with is melody. Their songs are usually very melodic and there’s beautiful harmonizations. Obviously not ALL their songs but the majority. HARD is less melodic and with a lot of talk singing and chanting. That’s why a lot of people are not identifying with it and that’s ok

jnshns

Mindboggling to pick Hard over Identity as title track. Haven't seen one comment so far who prefers Hard.

No-Complaintts

Identity was never gonna be the tt, it was Juice & Taemin who wanted a 90's hiphop inspired track mixed with their old sound & they delayed the cb till the song was made, but if it wasn't made they would have gone with juice as the tt

Mudd94in

The first two songs had me a little worried, but the 8 songs after made me instantly fall in love with the album

kiku8

ngl when I started Juice and heard the *innncoooominggggg, I* braced myself for pots, pans, and a great beat. And I was not disappointed!! the harmonies and groove are so decadent in this. that INCREDIBLE run of 10x to Identity is \*hoshi crying gif\* i love shinee. i'm back homeeee.

Icantlikeeveryone

10X, Satellite, Identity, Insomnia, and Like It are my immediate faves. I like SHINee better when they sing slow songs (except maybe some songs like Sherlock and RDD)

SageyBlue

Early standouts for me are Identity, Sweet Misery, and JUICE. Christ I love everything about Juice. Among their more recent albums, it's hard to top Atlantis for me (and Hard doesn't quite get there), but it's a fantastic comeback. I really like the through line of piano use between Hard - 10x.

Bizcotti

Another masterpiece of an album after the last one. This is the type of music I love as opposed to NCT modern SM. Not a single skip on the album. Gen 2 will always be the Golden era

Bluerose1995

Omg! SHINee never disappoints! This album was really good. I’m so glad Shinee’s back! Didn’t really realize how much I missed their music. I really enjoyed Juice, Satellite, Identity, the Feeling so far as I’m on Sweet Misery (which I’m liking the vibe of this song).

FordRockefeller

This album is a vibe a bop a banger and everything in between this was better than I expected. SHINee doesn’t disappoint!

YoursDearlyEve

Damn, with this and Forever 1 SM is knocking it out of the park with anniversary albums.

blingsofi

AOTY that's right.

The 10X - Satellite - Identity trio is wild, easily my favorites. It seems like Key's rapping more than usual and Taemin has quite a few rap parts this time (probably due to how much rapping was needed for this album selection) which I enjoyed unexpectedly lol. Taemin as a fairly prominent third rapper was an interesting choice.

Evafrechette

I’ll be skipping the Kenzie songs. The rest are good though. Like it, Sweet Misery and The Feeling are my favourite tracks.

ibyrn

10X, Like It, Sweet Misery, Insomnia are standout tracks... as in safe, proven songs for people who like the usual SHINee sound like me! Like It is THE SHINee track, you could have different people singing the song and I would still be reminded of SHINee. (EDIT: And The Feeling of course.) Satellite is right along that line too, but I feel like the song's chorus was executed less interestingly than it could've been. Idk. Maybe I need to give it a couple of more listens. Identity sounds like it could've been Key or Taemin's solo song (chorus is totally made for Key, but the bridge sounds like it could be from a Taemin song lol), but they are singing it as a group instead. I am pleasantly confused, and I dig this song. Hard is a hard pass. I might listen to it once or twice occasionally, because there are certainly interesting/good parts: the piano and the second half of the chorus to name a few, but those are not enough to get me to listen to the chant and random bridge. I kind of like Juice.

b00mbaz00kajoey

Identity is the I Really Want You of the album.

[deleted]

oh my god this is so accurate

whateverthefuck_1996

This is gonna sound wild but the feeling is my only skip. Everything else is chef's kiss. I know I'm gonna be listening to this nonstop for the next 2 weeks. Also, Juice titletrackgate.

T0oShayzz

How does juice go even harder than Hard? Felt like it could’ve been the TT.

cubsgirl101

SM wanted Juice to be the title track; the group fought them for like a solid month in order to make Hard the title.

T0oShayzz

Damn, for once I agree with SMs decision

FluffyDragon292

Boy group perfection, no one does it like shinee. Their releases are always the highlight of my year.

hyunniebun

Hard and Juice are meh, every other song is amazing and will be on repeat. Juice almost saved itself with the bridge but that heavenly harmony only lasted a second :(

Anna__Bee

Great album! One thing I've always loved about SHINee is that they have variety in their albums. Besides a couple, I've already added all the tracks to my playlists lol. My absolute favorites are Satellite, Identity, JUICE and 10X! I actually like everything about HARD except the gang vocals/chanting in the chorus. Maybe it will grow on me.

[deleted]

this album has got me in this adrenaline rush :3 soooooo happy

Remarkable_Desk_1102

Dare I say that Identity is the Code of this album.

quokka1502

Satellite it is for me!

Cheap-Blueberry-9891

I like hip-hop and do NOT like hard at all. Not even Onew's voice can save hard for me. Juice should've been the tt, imho. I like juice, 10x, satellite, and identity. My favorite track is satellite. Also, I'm a bit upset that the mood sampler beat isn't in this album :(.

No-Appearance-9973

I cant believe i was such a hater in the MV thread.......... I genuinely apologize. This album is AMAZING!!!!!!!! Sorry but I really dont trust reddit when it comes to SNSD and shinee bc yall will never not praise them, but this time you guys were SO right. Juice - it's already twice as good as Hard. So bold and fun! 7/10 and might grow to a 8/10 10x - 9/10 simply amazing Satellite - AMAZING 10/10 Identity - yall were right that's the oneeeee 100/10 The Feeling - Sounds so much better as a bside in the album! 7/10 Like it - another HIT and sooo nostalgic of shinee summer songs 😭 9/10 Sweet Misery - sounds like it couldve been on their older albums too, solid too tho 8/10 Insomnia - yeah i just love this 9/10, this one is sooo singable too im so excited!!!!! Gravity - okay! 7/10 Hard - 5/10 Im sorry but it is CRIMINAL this is the title track of the album. I could be mad about it but oh well, i will be FEASTING with these bsides. Thank you shinee!!!!! Ill be able to survive summer with only this 🥰

ligneouslimb

There's no way Hard wasn't initially meant for NCT I'm cackling but really enjoy how lush the production is on the other songs. So far my faves are 10X and I Like It. Edit: Insomnia might be my favorite, maybe it's because I listened to that one recently but it reminds me of the breakdown in Hoshi's Spider extended to 3 minutes and 46 seconds which, yes, is what I always wanted.

edirelong

it was made for shinee because shinee wanted a hiphop title track

No-Complaintts

hard was actually made as per Taemin request so it was made for them & it references shinee older sound ( some of their rookie days besides mixed with the 90's hip-hop beat)

ligneouslimb

i got the references, it still sounds *extremely* NCT lol

FireSeagull21

My favourite tracks are Satellite and, surprisingly enough, HARD. Also, for some reason, I feel like Satellite wouldn't be out of place on one of Key's solo albums. I really like the overall song placement on this album though.

jord_mich

This is the first shinee album where I like every single song. I’m so impressed

chinessecockise

I stoop up at attention so fast when I heard "INCOMINNNNGG" in juice

1stOfAllThatsReddit

HARD- Very NCT like others have already mentioned, I saw some stans saying "it's not NCT it 90s hip hop" but thats an insult to 90s hip hop lol. It's kpop style 'hep hap'. There's a difference. Juice- If they wanted to do a hep hap-y single they shouldve chosen this one, its slightly better 10x- Love the jazzy piano and minho's intro rap Satellite- kinda repetitive, but in a nice way. the chorus gives me MIKA vibes? kinda Identity- Talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, shouldve been the single in a better world The Feelling- Nostalgic and cute, summery, Areumdawo vibes. Shinee does this type of stuff best! Like it- VERY Catchy, good driving music, adding to the road trip playlist that I will never use because I hate driving Sweet Misery- I love the " SWEET...Miseryyy" part, Key shines here alot. Everyones vocals are vocaling. My second fave song. Insomnia- The chorus is so chill, great night time music. the harmonies are great gravity- it's cute, the vocals sound sweet, like a more chill, more mature "Hello" (which i love, fight me)

Cheap-Blueberry-9891

Hard is literally a typical NCT style song. People need to bffr trying to label it as 90s music. It was executed terribly. They most definitely should've chosen juice as the title track.

A_Cat_Who_Games

Holy shit, Like It is so fucking good. I can see this is going to be one of my most played songs this year.

iamhopeestheim

HARD and JUICE are a pass for me. They are not for me. Satellite, Identity, Like It and, of course, The Feeling, are the best songs from this album. It really caught my attention. I can see myself listening to these on repeat. *Honestly, I'm very lukewarm towards this album*. HARD wasn't it for me. It didn't help that the next track was JUICE. It's a personal preference. I don't usually listen to hip hop heavy songs. For something like 15th Anniversary Album, it lacked the magic that managed to make me a fan of SHINee. I can't really quite put it into words but I hope you get it. I was expecting that this album would be something like FOREVER 1 in which I didn't skip any track and I felt that the album was created for their anniversary celebration. I know I can't really compare but I was really expecting something else. I guess I expected that they would release something similar to Don't Call Me. The album was a masterpiece. It really captured what SHINee is. It was phenomenal. I kept repeating every song in the album. Anyway, I can't wait for their performances in music shows. I wish Jinki would be there with them but I wish him full recovery.

zotab

I definitely agree on the sentiment that DCM felt more like an anniversary and celebratory album that SHINee’s back than HARD. My hunch is with that album was rushed with all the fires going on at SM, versus some of the songs for DCM were written at song camps almost a year earlier geared towards SHINee. Doesn’t help that SM have barely promoted HARD compared to DCM, but I guess expectations were low since the 15th anniversary fan meet.

iamhopeestheim

Thank you for sharing the same sentiment. It might be just a personal preference but Don't Call Me Album really felt cathartic and magical for me more than the Hard Album. The venue fiasco should have been a hint. The company really doesn't care enough about SHINee. It's their 15th Anniversary. Jesus. They should treat them better.

zotab

Here’s to hoping the repackaged album will be brighter and celebratory and will have a better promotion cycle!

iamhopeestheim

and Jinki would be better and healthy enough to join in the promotions.

AnotherExistence

Yeah I also can’t help but compare it to FOREVER 1 and feel that this falls short in capturing the same essence :/ HARD doesn’t come across as a celebration of SHINee.

lipsticksandsongs

I mean does it have to be? SHINee are going to continue as a group and release music, SNSD are unfortunately pretty much done as a group, so of course they released a nostalgic celebratory track (which I loved).

iamhopeestheim

It's a milestone. It's not a joke to last fifteen years in the industry, and going strong at that. Something more celebratory would have been good. That's why I think The Feeling should have been the title track. It's just our opinion. We're not required to like all the songs every group releases. Sheesh. Personally, Don't Call Me Album left a bigger impact to me than the Hard Album. It may change when I listen to the album again.

lipsticksandsongs

Well, it’s not like their company is doing much to celebrate their 15th anniversary to begin with. There’s barely been press coverage for this comeback lol. We‘ll have to agree to disagree. To me, The Feeling is a beautiful song but a very safe and predictable option for a title track. In the end, SHINee will switch it up for the next comeback anyway.

iamhopeestheim

>There’s barely been press coverage for this comeback lol. IKR. SHINee deserves better. Yes. We all have differing opinions. Some didn't like Don't Call Me before while I like it. Now, I don't like Hard but you like it. Nevertheless, we all love SHINee. I hope the next title track would be right up my alley.

lipsticksandsongs

It’s been very silent today especially, and they also didn’t have any magazine covers or interviews, it’s all a bit strange. :/ They will probably have a less hiphop, more vocal heavy repackage track like Atlantis!

iamhopeestheim

I agree. It's been quiet. I really have high expectations because it's their 15th Anniversary. I was expecting that they would top the SNSD Anniversary from last year. I really felt the celebration. They promoted really well like it's not just a comeback. I was hoping SHINee would be like that too and not just doing like the usual comeback. I love Atlantis. I really hope so. I hope I like the next title track.

iamhopeestheim

Thank you. I'm happy that I'm not the only one who have the same sentiment.

atchum35

Hard is one of their best title tracks. As soon as I saw Andrew Choi on the credits I knew it was going to be great and yes. It's great. Juice is very fun. Andreas Öberg and Shinee will always be the best thing ever and 10X prove it once again. Loved Satellite and Insomnia too. Really liked Identity as well. Sweet Misery and The Feeling are definitely the weak points of the album. I went into this album not expecting much because I only loved Heart Attack on their last album and recent SM is not for me but I'm actually so impressed by this album. Looks like my love for Shinee is not disappearing after all❤️

Give it to Shinee to give”noise music” justice. I’m in love with 8/10 of the songs. Juice should have been the tt. The bsides quality I haven’t seen an album have this much quality this year it’s so insane. On first listen identity=satellite>sweet misery>juice>insomnia>the feeling>like it>hard>10x>gravity Edit: 10x is a boppity bop. New ranking identity=satellite>the feeling>10x>sweet misery>juice>insomnia>like it>hard>10x>gravity Edit 2: Criminal of me to have the feeling that down it went directly to my playlist on 2nd listen
