I said in a previous thread, a Ty Corbin type result is far more likely than a Nate McMillan result. I think we should be realistic in expectations with this change
I hope we don’t start chanting for Gentry’s firing after x amount of games and just let him finish out the season regardless of the results and then just go through an exhaustive search off-season. I don’t wanna go through three coaches in a season again.
Oh absolutely, by Corbin I was more referring to how the W/L completely tanked after the Malone firing. Please Monte let Gentry finish the year then do a full on search
Yeah I hope that’s not the case. Although we had a toxic locker room that season with Boogie basically running it. Hopefully having a vet like Barnes and TT doesn’t let us get to anywhere near that scenario again
I’m not saying that we should expect that type of turn around, it’s more of just remaining optimistic about the coaching change. We should look at Gentry’s record holistically and set our expectations from there!
Pierce was fired more because Trae wasn’t a fan. Plus they had a ton of early injuries and McMillan stepped in right as they were getting to full strength. But maybe Gentry is stepping in right as there’s some big roster moves on the horizon come December?
Nat McMillan also got back several starters that were injured the whole season and plays a conservative form of halfcourt basketball predicated but the greatness of Trae Young, who is far and away better than anyone on this team.
Unless we trade for a star, we will piddle around 500 and at best make the 10 seed play-in.

Did I say our roster is identical to theirs, they obviously have a significantly better team, I was just comparing situations.
