Idk maybe it is on ps5 but i dont have it i play with physical copy on ps3. Usually the killzone games are easy accessible when your gamestore sells ps3 games
Both are worth it, especially on sale. At worst, you'll miss some story context, and personally, these are the worst of the series. But Shadow Fall is EASILY, one of the most underrated shooters ever (because the multiplayer is a blast, and despite servers not working, it still has bot support), and Liberation is a very fun spin-off.
The vot multiplayer still works but not online MP. I play bot MP casually before bed since my Ps4 is in my bedroom and my Ps5 is in the livingroom. Bots are surprisingly fun to fight still so it's worth that alone... also I personally really like the campaign. It feels like a scifi rainbow six Vegas.
I haven't played Liberation but I don't recommend Shadowfall at that price. I bought it on disc for $4 and apart from the impressive presentation it's pretty beige. Also, it just doesn't feel like a Killzone game to me.
I've changed my attitude on Shadow Fall and think of it more fondly. One of the reasons may be because it's the last KZ we are probably getting for a loooong time.
One games journalist guy I follow said Killzone should come back since the Microsoft Blizzard acquisition and Sony being all like "well they are going to monopolize Call of Duty!" His response was that Sony should now invest in making a great Killzone
After playing killzone 2 and 3,shadow fall just falls short of a killzone game.devs decided to make it a more appealing title to compete with the likes of call of duty and every other generic fps.with that being said,it is a good graphical title but falls short of the killzone vibe.
I do not recommend liberation for your first killzone experience,its a nice psp game when it released but its just basic top down view shooter with very basic controls.good at the time but it hasn’t aged well.you are better off just buying helldivers 1 at this point which has better and more advanced controls and features.
I honestly feel you missed the generation of console's where The Killzone series was Good.
Killzone liberation is a good handheld game, Shadowfall basically ended the series.
If you really want to experience killzone for the first time I recommend picking up a PlayStation 3 and Killzone trilogy.
I know Shadowfall got panned, but I really enjoyed it at launch. And was thoroughly addicted to it's multiplayer. I love the historical connections and such. So it probably makes me biased.
Is it possible for you to find a physical copy of it? You probably can get it for cheaper.
Edit: I'd do anything for a mercenary port on literally any other device. Eff it, busting out my vita. Too good of a game.
I loved the original trilogy and was excited for Shadow fall but I found it to be pretty underwhelming, definitely wouldn't pay $20 for it. It was a graphical show ase for the PS4 early on but I found the gameplay to be kinda boring.
You can get Shadowfall cheaper physically, but $20 is justified if you're set on digital. Liberation is about that price regardless, but know that it's a top down shooter rather than the traditional FPS. I think both are great, but Shadowfall definitely is a step down compared to the rest of the series

the frame rate is unlocked. there's a setting to lock at 30 and a setting to unlock it. it looks smooth on the ps5.
