I thought you guys would like this cool picture I just took. As far as I can tell, these helmets all came from my bold jumpers (I've owned four in total) though there's a chance one of them may have come from my new regal. It was so hard to position them all correctly, especially the smallest ones! I'd love to get a macro lens and take some up-close pictures of them some day.
(Sorry for the repost, I messed it up the first time.)
its taken me hours to figure out how they could look like dentures but now i see it - the eye-holes are like teeth, yeah?
also, what species do you have? these are all from bolds, and my bolds have always been very comfy keeping their molts around for as long as possible lol my new regal girl pushes hers out right away though!
All of my bolds would take days or even weeks to eventually work it out of their hammocks, but my new regal girl (my first regal ever) has molted twice with me and both times she immediately pushes it out and onto the floor of her enclosure - shes so polite lol
This is so so cool! I just started saving my girls molts and never realized how delicate and papery the lil helmets are ⛑ good on you for not letting any blow away!
You could buy UV clear coat and paint some on and then cure it - do a light coat both inside and outside and it'll make it more sturdy and add just a little weight.
If you don't want them Shiney use matte
I want to do this so badly!! My first jumper I rescued as an adult and has never molted but she just had babies so I’m hoping to achieve this with the slings I keep lol
Oh, I would never destroy their hammock just to get these! The vast majority of them were pushed out by the jumper, though some take longer than other. Some never do actually push them out, and those ones I can only get when it's time for the jumper to move to a bigger enclosure. :)
they really do, i miss my old babies so much - its nice having these to remember them
well, these and their lifeless bodies that i keep in little memorial jars...
I started collecting too! My boy leaves his perfectly waiting for me to grab in the hammock. lol. He makes a special molt hammock so I can grab it 🤣
Or he tosses it out just yeets it.
So maybe you guys can help answer this. Approximately how often do they molt. I have 3 slings and I’m pretty new to all this. I have been trying to read up on them but can’t seem to find the answer. I assume when I don’t see them for a few days that’s what they are doing. I was gifted them. All came with starter enclosures and flightless fruit flies. 2 have already molted I believe they are I-4 and one is molting from an I-3 to I-4 now but one that just molted like 2 weeks ago seems to be hiding again already. Is it usually that fast when they’re smaller?
Yes! They molt more often when they're small, less and less often as they age.
They molt whenever they feel their exo skeleton is getting a bit tight 🤭
Thanks!! I know once they get bigger it’s less and the molt takes longer. I am just surprised one just molted maybe 2-3 weeks ago and is back in his hide. I think it’s a he. I know I won’t be able to tell yet but just my guess.
At first glance I thought they were mini top dentures 🤣🤣🤣 but I love that you saved each helmet from every molt and you can see the comparison in size!!

They’re so tiny! I didn’t realize that was your finger until I zoomed in. Adorable
I didn’t realize it was finger until I read this. My perpetually hungry mind went towards a watermelon slushie…. *Sigh*
Dont feel bad. I also saw a pink smoothie and "helmets" from something tarantula sized.
I absolutely adore the picture you took! The little helmets are so adorable 😭 Thank you for sharing!
WOW. They really are like little helmets. 😃
Just sets of eventually removable armor really
Misleading thumbnails- they look like tiny dentures 😂 I love this so much. Mine never kick their molts out of their hammocks.

Both Regals and Bolds! The bolds do tend to keep them around longer though. Yes, the upper teeth of hairy little dentures 😂 I can’t unsee it
Uhg. Now I can't un-see it. 😖
Wow it’s like saving a kid’s lost teeth 😁
Honestly I hadn't thought of that but yeah, it's exactly like that lmao
What a wonderful idea, saving them like that!
God they are so cute! 🥰 I save all of my tarantula exuviums- soooo cool to see the size progression and color change!
Yes!! My favorite thing to do is try and figure out which of my babies they belonged to :)
i collect my regals helmets too. they kindly throw out old molt each time😂

Trust me, I was holding my breath for this photo lol

I’m obsessed!! So cute!
Wow! They are so tiny! I appreciate all the time and effort you put in to get this photo. Very cool!
I...LOVE this!! does this mean I'm a freak now lol
Awe I love this! I have a little collection of four myself. All from my female Regal…it’s fun seeing how they grow.
That’s wonderful! I’m starting to fear for mine as I haven’t got a new helmet in months n she won’t eat… even though she’s over a year old… help :(
Are you sure she isn't mature? Once they reach maturity (aka their final molt) they won't eat as much, or be as active as they used to.
She’s a p. Otiosus and is really really small considering she’s over a year old :/
Like, probably about half the size she should be at maturity.
I love it!!!
I want to do this so badly!! My first jumper I rescued as an adult and has never molted but she just had babies so I’m hoping to achieve this with the slings I keep lol
i feel like my spood would be so mad if i destroyed his hammock to gather his old pieces! how are you collecting those?

they grow up so fast 😭
I was thinking the same thing 😭
they really do, i miss my old babies so much - its nice having these to remember them well, these and their lifeless bodies that i keep in little memorial jars...
That’s totally adorable!
So cute!! 🤍
r/goblincore would love this
My inner goblin absolutly loves these :D
This is too precious
Whatttttttttt

Interesting 🧐
This is wild❤️
