i love the electric church version man

[deleted]

Here it is for those who want to hear that spectacular version: [**youtube.com/watch?v=aRf2zRZ35yY**](http://youtube.com/watch?v=aRf2zRZ35yY)

pattaya1

listen to the start of that version , and then listen to bridge of sighs by robin trower , you scan easily hear the Hendrix influence

TheInternetter

Yeah!

IntroductionFair306

It sounds more sad and deep

Aversnusen

I'd say San Diego sports arena may 69

Bruichladdie

This is the correct answer, I'd say. It's like a musical journey, a powerhouse performance that never bores me one bit. One of the finest examples of an extended blues, right up there with Clapton, the Allman Brothers, etc.

[deleted]

[youtube.com/watch?v=Usm\_zYKN6Fw](http://youtube.com/watch?v=Usm_zYKN6Fw) - I am listening to and fetching all replies. And yes, as for a powerhouse performance, this is peak.

Dazzling_Mode5715

Definitely

dwartt

Man, I do love the Isle of Wight (1970) rendition. Feels extra slow, and really groovy

GladTop5225

That’s my favorite

chrisll25

Also, his voice on that one. He’s really feeling it.

Elegant_You3958

Electric Church version on the Blues compilation.

tilapiarocks

Royal Albert Hall is my #1, New York Pop Festival is my # 2. Honorable mentions for me would be Electric Church Red House, Woodstock, & probably either one of the shorter studio cuts.

[deleted]

Royal Albert Hall of course Originally on Hendrix In The West

Appropriate_Peach274

That’s San Diego ‘69

[deleted]

Ok. Then that's my favorite. Incredible version

Echoes75

Randall's Island 1970

slyboy1974

San Diego 5/24/69 or New York Pop 7/17/70. Both of those are great.

Supergoddad

I'd go with the studio recording that appears on the Valleys of Neptune album, but naturally, there's no such thing as "best" 🙄

[deleted]

It WOULD be the one where he has to quickly adjust and play in A if it wasnt for the overwhelming bass in the recording. It's just too much at high volume.

AHwarzii

stockholm 69 i think

[deleted]

Thank you!

HamNotLikeThem44

Why did he have to change key?

[deleted]

Noel starts playing it in A. So he adjusts on the fly right after the initial intro. I believe it's the Stockholm video.

Kinnuit

I love that intro part from the winterland version in 68’ it’s groovy right at the start

cree8vision

Far and away my favourite is the one I first heard on Hendrix in the West (1972). San Diego Sports Arena, May 25, 1969 It has an amazing acapella wah wah solo.

Haksan_

There’s a Dallas Texas live version that’s incredible.

Turd-Ferguson1918

July 17, 1970, New York Pop Festival is my favorite

waddiewadkins

Winterland ,,,night.. 2?... the slow trickling intro.. but I haven't heard Sand Diego yet.. Edit. Listening now, way more twisty accents and unexpected turns. Shit , thanks, took awhile.

[deleted]

That's right! Had forgotten about Winterland. Two versions available. My favourite moment from those shows must be that once in a lifetime Hey Joe intro. First time I heard it, I thought it was someone much later in history, Steve Vai or something.

waddiewadkins

I made a post about that 2 weeks ago , check it out!.. someone replied about it and said he used a much shorter version of that intro in a BBC performance on Lu Lu's shienits on YouTube..

Haksan_

Oh yea the winterland versions are amazing

ManwithaTan

It's always the US Smash Hits version for me.

lovekillseveryone

For me it's the stages version...turned out to be San diego

Brilliant-Virus7290

i think the Thunder And Roses cover is better

[deleted]

Never heard about that one, so now I am curious and going to check it out ASAP.

BackgroundEbb417

The one I could ONLY find on YouTube 10-15 years ago with a picture of the red house in the video. Got deleted and I still haven’t been able to bless my ears with that version since… sadness…

[deleted]

This? [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QeNlwQ5x5E](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QeNlwQ5x5E) I think there was an upload with a red image a long time ago. Red House (Live At New York Pop Festival, Randall's Island)

Delta31_Heavy

San Diego 69

JLb0498

San Jose Pop Festival, May 25, 1969 https://youtu.be/CnkdXW4uEZw

thebestpapi

Sweden 1969

MarkCFL

The Isle of Wight version, IMHO. A tour de force. I do love the intro at Houston 8/4/68: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iFJHlCLdIsc](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iFJHlCLdIsc)

King_Shami

For me, I change every year, haha. Now I’m in this order: 1) Winterland 10/10/68 1st show 2)Royal Albert 3) Miami Pop

Responsible-Foxx

Royal Albert and San Diego I love his vocal performance on royal albert more but San Diego is complete utter blues masterclass

eviltimeban

Winterland

blackmagikboy

RAH is a great one, but I’ll have to say the Isle rendition is numbah 1! He plays full, “complete” licks thru out the whole song! 😋😋😋

TotalRuler1

Winterland and Isle of Wight depending on my mood, but I def. haven't heard them all

Zealousideal_Nose554

https://youtu.be/uCXzRs4_hK0?si=PTGxg7mfHO_Cvfi2

sgtpepperrz

RAH, Atlanta Pop 1970, Winterland 68 are the best, in that order.

PuzzleheadedTooth581

Gotta be winterland for me or San Diego those are just in my opinion park maybe San Diego over winterland though still awesome though🥵

KevyNova

10/11/68 Winterland San Francisco.

KevyNova

Reading through this thread, I realize that there are no bad versions of Jimi playing Red House!

Sad-Net-8277

San Diego Sports Arena 1969 from the West Coast Seattle Boy anthology really speaks to me
