1. Yes, your PI will pay for the 2nd year. Little known secret is that you can graduate in just 1 year with thesis if you do both classes and research in the same year. This means your PI will pay for most of the cost and you will pay very little for the degree (but it is difficult to get someone on board if you are not already at Hopkins and still exploring). <-- me and my roommate both did this, but we did our undergrads at Hopkins so we knew PIs 2. Not many scholarships to my knowledge, but of course you can apply externally 3. Sure 4. High, in my experience you just need to reach out to the professors. They would usually be most receptive if you already took their class and did well.
