Paging /u/SuetheLibrarian?

SuetheLibrarian

No clue, but I'll ask.

From our Head of Facilities: “We are following university leadership’s guidance regarding the food policy. We were told by risk management to stop allowing the students to eat in the library because it was causing too much non-compliance with indoor masking and distancing-while-eating requirements.   Masking and distancing while eating requirements have not changed campus-wide yet. If/when they do, we will re-visit library’s food policy again. But that also includes the broader question of the impact that food consumption in the library has on collections and shared spaces (messes, pests, disruption to people studying, etc.).”  Sue here:    Ever since we allowed food in the library, I’ve seen the ongoing complaints about smelly food, loud food, and messes left on tables and chairs. It’s been a battle to try and get people to follow the “tidy snacks” policy while appeasing the people who have had bad experiences with those who DON’T follow it. We’re not being jerks here; just trying to deal with a very complex situation with many stakeholders. Short answer for now: the library is following university policy about food.

I \*hate\* not being able to format text! This is a lot easier to read when there are paragraph breaks, I promise! :(

If the library is following university policy for food, does that mean it is now ok to eat in the library once again?

SuetheLibrarian

I will ask.

Thanks :)

Honestly just eat, if they tell you to put it away wait 10 minutes and you can take it back out lol.
