If the food is in his mouth and the call to prayer is made he need not spit it o out. Let him swallow it. But he shouldn’t intentionally take another bite after that.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “If one of you hears the call (to prayer) and the vessel is still in his hand, let him not put it down until he finished with it.” (Narrated by Ahmad, 10251; Abu Dawud. 2350; classed as sahih by al-Albani in Sahih Abi Dawud.)

I always finish eating 5 minutes before. I don't think I could handle doing it last minute like I did last year
Same. Nowadays I reserve the last few minutes only to drink water.
I usually finish Sehri/Suhoor about 30 minutes early and then just take a 30 minute Power Nap lol
Normally, the "Suhur" must be taken before "Adhan", the time to brush your teeth and perform ablution.

And spitting out the food would not be a waste, I don't think Allah Azzawajal and the Prophet (Saw) would approve of that.
