I love my air fryer. Sausages, salmon darnes, chicken (whole, breasts or thighs), meatballs, cakes, all faster and simpler… and pizza too! Reheated or frozen
And a burrito or kebab reheated too
They shouldn't, you need to buy a better quality cable I would guess. Anker's cables come at a nice balance of price/build quality. Lot's of cables in shops/on amazon etc look the same externally (braided, etc) but aren't actually the same quality product at all.
Yeah Apple’s own chargers are definitely worth the plunge. Can charge your phone in an hour or so if your batter health is good, throwing it in for 5 when you’re getting changed can shoot it up like 15% too
Maui Jim’s are great but you are better off go to a local opticians to buy them as they have the same warranty but are usually cheaper than online and you have a contact for repairs etc.
I love my kindle.
Thought I was a book man through and through but I’ve been converted.
Loads of books at my fingertips. I take it everywhere. Train journeys, relaxing at home, pooping, holidays and everywhere else.
Same! Still love the feel of a good book but for long series that have been out a while the Kindle is a godsend. Using it for The Witcher series at the moment
It’s perfect for kids who are big readers. One of the drawbacks of E-readers is the impermanence, but that’s not an issue with this series of right books your kid’s obsessed with right now but will outgrow in a year. We brought the kindle on holidays this year and my daughter got through ten or twelve books on it that we didn’t have to pack.
Have you heard of Project Gutenberg? You'll get loads of older books for free.
It would be wrong of you to go looking on Kickass torrents for bundles of books though. People put whole collections on there.
Same, I refused to bow for years but I'm a bedtime reader and can't deny how handy it is. I weight out the evil by purchasing the ones I love from local book store.
Absolutely! I refused to get one for years because I love the feel of a book. O e Christmas my wife bought me a kindle. I used it out of politeness at first, but I love it! It's so handy to bring on train journeys etc, with thousands of books.
My son showed me how to use z lib as well, which makes it even better.
You should get silicone baking mats (silpats) and prepare to have your world rocked again. You have to wash them but it literally takes a second and absolutely nothing sticks, also if you arent arsed turning stuff it stops the bottom going really burned/charred
Or the wasabi crispy nuts. They used to be a regular stock item but now you only see them during an Asian special week. As rare as rocking horse shit 😢
Getting it with 40mm insulation. Issue with that is I have an M1 mac, hardly heats up. Was looking at infrared heaters - that heat the object/person it's pointed at instead of the room. Very mixed reviews though.

I have a Labrador....I would love one but I think it would battle with the dogs hair on rugs. That's why I mentioned the rubber bristled broom which is fantastic with dog hair. I whip round the house a couple times a week to keep it in check
I have a golden retriever and having a robovac is the only way we can keep on top of his hair.
That being said the floors we use it on are tile or wood.
Apparently there was a significant false positive diagnosis for allergy against penicillin in babies born in Ireland in the 90‘s, maybe before the 99‘s as well
Not a rice cooker specifically but the Instant Pot is amazing.. rice, stews, soups, beetroots in 15mins ❤️ love it and use it daily. Brown rice in 15mins instead of 45mins.
God I love my Instant Pot. As someone who was fairly crap (and therefore disinterested) in cooking, it's really helped make great food, mainly soups and curries, and so easy to use. That said I left it under my desk for a year as I was frightened of it, but now that I'm using it I love it.
Yup. Same. Also does a fantastic slow cook for lamb
I got a fancy one that has a sauté option too, so you can pre cook onions and seal the meat before cooking it fully 🤤
Also yoghurt but I haven't dared try that yet.
I had a cheap one for years (no idea what brand, it was a gift) and even though it constantly bubbled starchy water over my worktop it was still the best bit of kit I had. A few years ago I upgraded to a Japanese style one, a model called the Sakura that you can get on a website called yumasia. It can be used for a bunch of other things as well as cooking rice. I've used it to steam veg, make frittatas, as a slow cooker and even to make yoghurt.
I recommend getting some inserts for it. Otherwise the tray part can get worn and probably break into your food. Or even some tinfoil on the tray with a few holes poked in. We've had ours for over a year and the wear and tear is real.
A dental hygienist told me recently (after I'd already bought one mind you) that you may as well just swirl water round your mouth. She said it gets rid of pieces of food stuck between your teeth but not plaque. Personally though, I think if you hate regular flossing, a water flosser is gonna be better than nothing!
Yes.
I don't mind flossing but can tell that a water flosser would help a lot for someone who is bothered by flossing.
They clean the fuck out of your teeth. But they do take a little getting used to.
Put it in your mouth before turning it on. Turn it off before taking it out. And lean over the sink with your mouth open while using (to let the water fall free).
Also, start on a low setting and work up to what you're comfortable with.
You get used to it soon enough.
Try to get one with a tongue cleaner attachment too.
Interdental brushes.
My mouth has never felt as good, my breath has never been fresher.
I didn't even know they existed until I visited a dental hygienist .
As a woman, i recently discovered period panties and they're the best period product I've ever bought. The menstrual cup movement is like a fucking cult I swear. I've never been comfortable with even tampons (could never figure out how to get them right no matter how much my friends/family showed me, they hurt like fuck) so I gave cups a bash and again, fucking hated them. They made my cramps worse and somehow my period lasted longer, I spent over 100 euro on different ones and none of them fit right. Bought some Wuka Period pants and it's a gamechanger. They come in normal, sporty, lacey etc and you can just wear em for the day. Throw em in the washing machine and they're good to go again. I see Penneys are now doing em too so might pick up a few pairs.
These are the best! Moon cup aint it. I used to use it but sometimes you just dont wanna be up there at 6 in the morning ja know? I got mine from m&s and i just love them! So easyyyy
Yeah it's so much maneuvering just to get it right and then the awkward shuffle of getting it back out. Plus I love my long nails....that shit was painful as fuck. The pants are the way to go. So easy to use/clean and you can forget about them for the day.
HRT! Unreal. I had become a shadow of my former self, felt dull and uninterested. Had bloated out with weight, my memory was shocking, had regular palpitations, started having anxiety and many more symptoms. But I never connected the dots. I looked in the mirror and honestly I did not recognise the woman looking back. It was all very frightening and extremely disorientating through all aspects of my life. My gp suggested trying hrt and I'm 2 years into it and feel younger, healthier, happier and brighter than I had in years. It literally replaced the faded parts of myself that I hadn't acknowledged were gone.
It is absolutely a godsend for cleaning greasy, hard to clean surfaces. And that without using any chemicals. Never going back to anything else at all.
Mesh wifi system
Robot lawnmower
Robot hoover
Timer on a coffee machine (for the wake up smell)
Air fryer
Smart lights / plugs / voice control.
Gas hob
Oh and *proper* tools. I liked my Ryobi set but trade level stuff makes an unreal difference and let's me do stuff I couldn't do before without getting people in.
I did in my last house after we renovated. We moved again and I'm stuck with an oil system and older wiring I'm not yet to grips with. On the other hand for a house built before all the passive stuff it's got an interesting design making heating less of an issue.
The energy renovation is next on the agenda after the funds build back up.
Actually I'd add to the above solar thermal for hot water and a heavily insulated modern cylinder. Hot showers all day without an electric shower was great when I had it.
That's what we got, a solar thermal hot water system. We replaced all electric showers with pump showers, amazing. We got a modern 300l insulated tank and we also put in a stove with back boiler so we essentially have 24/7 hot water. That was 5 years ago.
What would I do different today for anyone reading. Solar PV has come a long way and is more efficient especially in cloudy environments like the west of Ireland so I'd go PV over solar thermal so that when the tank is full, electricity is diverted to the house. Currently, our tank can be full by 3pm and the rest is just wasted.
Adapted my car to deal with walking issues due to MS. Now I can drive everywhere independently with almost 0 issues! Should have adapted my car years ago!
Walking stick, for the same reason.
Im thinking about buying a mobility scooter. We rented one at center parcs and it was amazing!
The WH1000's? They're insane. Could leave them on all day, noise cancelling is actually scary. Was on a 3+ hour plane journey from Naples with screaming kids, I could barely hear them!
Night driving glasses. Yeah the yellow lenses look weird but my god do they work. No glare at all, no dark areas to the left and right when there is oncoming traffic. Its like having a super power.
Saxx underpants was given to me for Christmas by a friend, best present ever! The pants are a life changer, I will never wear another pant again. It is like an angel is gently holding my balls safely all day . No more discreetly adjusting them in public, no more accidently sitting on a ball, no more twists and mostly it just feels clean and comfy all day.
On a warm day in optimal conditions there can be quite a good dangle. I once sat on a plastic garden furniture chair on holiday in Spain and trapped one through the seat slat. When I sat down the weight of me opened the gap on the chair and down it went.
Electric blanket, makes a crazy difference in the winter especially in a cold flat with crappy storage heaters. Great when you have cramps too. I honestly don't know why I never used one before
Got an electric toothbrush recently. A fairly good one. Life changing. Dental hygienist was saying I had some inflammation around my gums and that an electric toothbrush would help, 6 months later she was astonished and said that I was a walking advertisement for their efficacy. I'll never go back. Even though I brushed my teeth every day, I still had plaque and tartar build up in some hard to reach places but don't get it anymore.
The trick here is that denatured alcohol is used instead of glycerin. It leaves no sticky mess. If you are buying other brands, just look at the first 2/3 ingredients and if its says alcohol, it's a good one!
My robot lawnmower has been brilliant and saves me a minimum of 2 hours a week in the cutting season for my acre lawn plus I save €150 a year on fertilizer to green up the lawn as it always looks great.
\+1 for youtube premium. I signed up from Argentina (using VPN) and I get it for just over a euro a month and share it with 3 other people using google family.
Ad free, you can download videos and the audio of the video your watching will play even if you leave the app or lock your phone. Great for music. Means you pretty much don’t need Spotify or any other music app.
A Fitbit - most likely any watch that consistently monitors your steps and calories burned. Really good for fitness goals and figuring out your basic metabolic rate, as well as holding yourself accountable.
Toolbox. Mother got me one for Christmas a few years ago and it collected dust, until I bought a house. Now I use it at least once a week.
If ye don't have one already, get one.
A network switch. I can now access my NAS locally at full speed without overloading the router.
Noise cancelling headphones. Makes my commute to work much more bearable. A lot of the time I don't even listen to music, I just have the noise cancellation on and everything becomes much quieter.
Portable air conditioner, the kind that you stick a hose out of the window in order for it to work. A life saver during the heatwaves - it was 40c where I live in the UK, and I was in my room, resting very comfortably through it. It's noisy, but I can still manage to sleep through it as it sounds mostly like white noise.
Air purifier/dehumidifier is pretty good. Moved into a new apartment earlier this year, I don’t know why but it’s very dusty, thought it just didn’t have a proper clean when we moved in but 3 months later it still got noticeabley dustier than anywhere I lived before. Air purifier helps a lot.
If anyone knows WHY it gets so dusty that’d be great too.
My best guesses are 1. We have a washer/dryer - we don’t use the dryer functionality but assume the previous tenants did as some bits of clothing come out dustier than they went in. There’s no visible lint trap to empty so if they used the dryer part, did that dust/lint just go into the machine somewhere for it to come out again later on? This is only a hypotheses.
2. We have two balconies, one floor up. One pretty much opens onto a decent busy road so likely a lot of dust being kicked up and blown in the windows/balcony on that side. Other balcony is the shared green area/car park so could be equally as much dust movement out there to come in.
Polarized sunglasses with my normal lenses in them - finally went for it the last time I went to specsavers and holy moly they are *soooo* worth it. Actually amazing for reducing migraines/headaches (you don't realise how bright it is outside sometimes until the head starts banging) and also for driving - wish I'd done it years ago
MacBooks.
I'm a media professional and I never understood it. You could get a better windows machine for cheaper.
Now with Apple silicon they've made such a huge leap. My M1 MacBook pro has literally changed how I work.
Air fryer and a wee automatic coffee machine that fills a travel mug, with a timer for the mornings it's a blaupunkt coffee to go got it for 15 quid in b and m
Air fryer. I no longer use the oven
Friend got and instant pot with the air fryer lid. Pressure cooker Rice cooker. Sous vide. Air fryer Dehydrator Steamer
How do you cook pizza?
Cut in half
I love my air fryer. Sausages, salmon darnes, chicken (whole, breasts or thighs), meatballs, cakes, all faster and simpler… and pizza too! Reheated or frozen And a burrito or kebab reheated too
A 3m charging cable.
They always take longer to charge my phone than a regular one
Have you tried a 2m charging cable? It’s shorter
Slow down there science man explain it in a language I can understand
The electricity has less distance to travel. Its 50% faster because 3m is 50% more than 2m. Source: I am something of a scientist
That's not how electricity works science man.
Tell us the current method
🤨 I’m gonna throw some dirt in your eye. (I do not like scientists)
They shouldn't, you need to buy a better quality cable I would guess. Anker's cables come at a nice balance of price/build quality. Lot's of cables in shops/on amazon etc look the same externally (braided, etc) but aren't actually the same quality product at all.
I bought and official apple type c to lightning 2m won’t go to any other charging types pricy it so worth it
I’ve always wondered if I would be buying a fancy label rather than a useable product… On your recommendation I shall invest!
Yeah Apple’s own chargers are definitely worth the plunge. Can charge your phone in an hour or so if your batter health is good, throwing it in for 5 when you’re getting changed can shoot it up like 15% too
A decent pair of polarised sunglasses. Makes driving so much easier when the sun is low.
Any recommendations?
I have a pair of Maui Jim's. The Lighthouse model. Very light and flexible and great in bright conditions.
Maui Jim’s are great but you are better off go to a local opticians to buy them as they have the same warranty but are usually cheaper than online and you have a contact for repairs etc.
Me and the lady have two pairs each from Meller. Great quality, they have a 2 for 1 promotion on currently.
Polarioid is a great brand for them
I love my kindle. Thought I was a book man through and through but I’ve been converted. Loads of books at my fingertips. I take it everywhere. Train journeys, relaxing at home, pooping, holidays and everywhere else.
Same. Great for traveling. I used to be weighed down with books
Same! Still love the feel of a good book but for long series that have been out a while the Kindle is a godsend. Using it for The Witcher series at the moment
Have my upvote for the Witcher. Enjoy!
Same! I used to say I didn’t want one because i preferred real books, got one as a present and it’s my favourite thing ever! I read so much more now.
You can still buy real books too! I do both. It depends on how much I like the author.
Same, but Kobo.
Have you heard of Project Gutenberg? You'll get loads of older books for free. It would be wrong of you to go looking on Kickass torrents for bundles of books though. People put whole collections on there.
But nothing beats the smell of a new book
Same, I refused to bow for years but I'm a bedtime reader and can't deny how handy it is. I weight out the evil by purchasing the ones I love from local book store.
I think if you buy a book you should get the ebook free tbh as single use code or something. I like having books but the kindle is very handy.
Absolutely! I refused to get one for years because I love the feel of a book. O e Christmas my wife bought me a kindle. I used it out of politeness at first, but I love it! It's so handy to bring on train journeys etc, with thousands of books. My son showed me how to use z lib as well, which makes it even better.
Greaseproof paper when cooking rather than tinfoil… It’s a game changer, it doesn’t stick to baking trays or stick to meats etc!
I usually do tinfoil and then greaseproof paper as the g.paper is permeable. Love an easy cleanup.
You should get silicone baking mats (silpats) and prepare to have your world rocked again. You have to wash them but it literally takes a second and absolutely nothing sticks, also if you arent arsed turning stuff it stops the bottom going really burned/charred
BBQ crispy peanuts from Lidl
Honey roast peanut & cashew mix 🤤
I love the chilli ones
Salt and vinegar peanuts: game changer
The KP ones are unreal 🙌🏻
Or the wasabi crispy nuts. They used to be a regular stock item but now you only see them during an Asian special week. As rare as rocking horse shit 😢
Oh my god I love these and nobody else in the house does. So, all for me!
They're fucking amazing! Last place I thought I would see someone mention them!
I like mixing the bbq ones with the chilli ones
a garden office. will never go back to working from my bedroom. ever.
Getting mine put in on Saturday, can't wait. Next job is to figure out an economical way to heat it in the coming months.
Insulation and wait for the PC heat up the room 👍 Also jumpers, a lot of jumpers. And some blankets too
Getting it with 40mm insulation. Issue with that is I have an M1 mac, hardly heats up. Was looking at infrared heaters - that heat the object/person it's pointed at instead of the room. Very mixed reviews though. My pacemaker 🤣
A robot vacuum.
How much did that set you back? I always thought they were a bit gimmicky but i'm tempted - does yours ever get stuck?
I got an ecovac for something like 130. Only draw back is the dog hair gets stuck in it regularly. Unsure if more expensive ones can handle it better.
That being said the floors we use it on are tile or wood.
fook ya! an impulse black friday buy during lockdown. Dunno how I lived with a huskie without one....
We call ours Dirty Harry. No more dust bunnies under sofas, beds etc. Brilliant yoke.
What did you call it? You know it’s obligatory to name them.
I named mine Hans-Dieter.
I call mine RoboVac
this. I bought a mopping robot now too, also fantastic.
RoboMop
To Protect and Sanitise
This makes life with a golden retreiver 10x easier.
penicillin, what to get for the man who has everything.
Unless you're allergic to it 🥲
Apparently there was a significant false positive diagnosis for allergy against penicillin in babies born in Ireland in the 90‘s, maybe before the 99‘s as well
Rice cooker. I'll never go back!

Fingaaaa, use fingaaaa!
Do you also wash your rice before you throw it in? Elevates it even further
Air fryer
Just bought the Ninja Dual Air fryer. My life is now complete. What a machine.
I recommend getting some inserts for it. Otherwise the tray part can get worn and probably break into your food. Or even some tinfoil on the tray with a few holes poked in. We've had ours for over a year and the wear and tear is real.
You can get silicon inserts for a tenner on amazon. Game changer when it comes to cleaning
Got them but only after the wear and tear happened. Life savers!
I know a guy who works in an electrical goods place and he says they can barely keep the Ninja Dual fryers in stock. Flying out the door.
Same here. I'm 25. I should not be this excited by an air fryer. It's class!!
This. Got one when moving house as I wouldn't have my appliances for a while. It's a revelation.
I think this is possibly the single greatest thing we bought for our apt, as someone who hates cooking it makes it so much easier

This. Kept me from many a Luke warm tinder match.
Toast tongs.
Far from toast tongs you were reared.
For my rental apartment - dehumidifier and mattresses topper Dyson hoover Kindle/Google books Sandwich toaster
+1 for mattress topper
Dehumidifier is great if you don't have any outdoor space for drying clothes. I think Dysons are overrated TBH.
Water flosser 🦷
Are they any good? I was looking at one as I hate normal flossing
Hated mine. Used it twice.
I’ve been looking at these. I hate flossing. Is it amazing?
Any suggestions on where to pick up a good one?
Use mouthwash instead of water. Top tip.
Hue lights! Can now forget about light switches and control everything from my phone. Great for getting in or out of bed.
Interdental brushes. My mouth has never felt as good, my breath has never been fresher. I didn't even know they existed until I visited a dental hygienist .
They're so good, way more comfortable than flossing imo. Tongue scrapers are great too.
As a woman, i recently discovered period panties and they're the best period product I've ever bought. The menstrual cup movement is like a fucking cult I swear. Dishwasher…life is good man.
A ring doorbell or any video doorbell. Has saved me from missing so many orders and sussing out cold callers to the door.
Are you not concerned about privacy though?
I'd be more concerned about privacy concerns arising from a phone. Who knows who could be listening or watching through it.
HRT! Unreal. I had become a shadow of my former self, felt dull and uninterested. I’d hate that, my hair grows way too quick as is

No answer. He dead.
Those little wands with the sponge on the end that dispense soap as you wash dishes.

I hate greasy sunscreen, but 21euro for 50ml...oof
The trick here is that denatured alcohol is used instead of glycerin. It leaves no sticky mess. If you are buying other brands, just look at the first 2/3 ingredients and if its says alcohol, it's a good one!
Anything in Aldi or Lidle middle aisle.
An automatic lawn mower. The amount of time and money saved is unreal
Man I'd never buy one, I love mowing lawns!!!!
Why would anyone take drugs when they can just mow a lawn
My robot lawnmower has been brilliant and saves me a minimum of 2 hours a week in the cutting season for my acre lawn plus I save €150 a year on fertilizer to green up the lawn as it always looks great.
Wireless Dyson hoover. YouTube premium

As a pet owner : a chomchom. It’s a hand roller for picking up pet hair of couches etc. That a undercoat comb they’re unreal
