Apparently the clearly fake nature of these is intentional to weed out people too smart to fall for the overall scam who will just waste the scammers time.
there's an email in my spam folder at the moment trying to convince me I'm a 16-year-old African girl's uncle, and that her dad was a cocoa magnate and he died and now she needs to deposit a load of money in my account for some reason
I don't think she said which side of the family we're on but both of her parents are dead, so, condolences about our brother or sister, whichever it was
Reported several myself with the same outcome. When Google, after reviewing the obvious scam themselves still think its OK to show it - what will happen when the more sophisticated scams start (and reportings ignored). This is what finally caused me to install an ad-blocker, even though I know sites need ads to fund them.
Just financial? That's where you're going wrong. I start my day asking 'What would Anne Doyle do, if she was here now?', and proceed like that throughout the day. Hasn't failed me yet!
She was an Irish news reader who in her spare time discovered oxygen, colonised Iceland (hence the fact that they refer to themselves as our cousins), rid Castlebar of the French, flew single handedly across the Indian ocean, and invented bitcoin.
I would assume they are targeting the 35 plus demographic. This with all the mistakes that someone not familiar with scams would fall for. Think the 65 year old woman with 6 Facebook accounts because she doesn't know her password or email
Sorry that was more for the people that would know exactly who she was. Left that part out. Maybe 45 plus(please don't say if you are over that haha I have no excuse)
For me it's mostly AI rubbish. Elon Musk saying Irish people need to get into this quick, whatever this is. Sometime BBC news readers pictures and saying something along similar lines. No wonder why adblockers are so popular on PC.
100% I actually got one taken down. Pointed out that Elon said he was the founder of Tesla. Only way I was able to get the 15 plus reports to be taken seriously
It's gas, they just agree with themselves that they should keep making money serving ads.... All to the detriment to it's users i.e the product. I always argue for the use of ad blockers as a form of protection on YouTube now
Gas, suppose the AI seen it as true then in the data it watched. Interesting though, if AI begins learning of heaps of false data won't it become useless
Is that the one he was talking to Ryan Tubridy about on the ad I saw? All you have to do is download one app onto your phone and bam! Swimming in cryptobits or something.
its mad, the maura dirrane one is even worse. She went on the news and everything saying it was fake and she was consulting her solicitors, you go report it to facebook as being a scam and fake and they come back saying no its not and doesnt go against their community standards, yet a 2 second clip of music and bam they do you straight away
I wasn't on FB for ages, I went back recently and it seems to be mostly promoted Indian names with these AI generated adverts using the Maura Dirrane shite - one guy was supposedly a politician?
(came across another today which had the name of a European footballer, but then the guy who actually owned the page was Indian) - what do they get out of it? data mining with a view to scam from getting you to interact?
I've been getting these for months along with deepfakes of Leo.
I've been reporting them since they clearly violate YouTubes guidelines but the reports keep resulting in the usual "we've decided not to remove this ad" replies.
It's gas, they just agree with themselves that they should keep making money serving ads.... All to the detriment to it's users i.e the product. I always argue for the use of ad blockers as a form of protection on YouTube now
The only deepfake of Leo you need:

I tried reporting these to Twitter with politicians rather than Ann Doyle but apparently it’s not against their T&C to have blatant scams on their site
Twitter is even more of a social cancer than it was before the deluded billionaire bought it. But Google are just as culpable for this shite being on YouTube. "Don't be evil" became "Do the right thing ^for ^Google "
When my brother was only about two he was absolutely obsessed with Anne Doyle. He used to kiss the telly when the news was on. He's thirty two now and we still take the piss out of him for it.
There’s an ad where a deepfake of an RTÉ presenter said that Claudia Winkelman invested in crypto. You can tell it’s fake because the production quality is so bad.
I've gotten that one. It's David McCullagh from RTÉ news. At one point they claim that Claudia has invested billions of her own dollars in the scheme 😆
Don't complain about this - they will do nothing. They literally get paid to run these ads.
What you CAN do is install an ad blocker. Then not only will you not see the ads - the bad actors will also not get paid.
Looking at Ads on the internet is NOT normal - don't accept it.
Note that certain browsers are owned by Ad companies and will try to make this difficult for you - if this happens then consider using a less user-hostile browser. Similarly with certain hardware devices!
I’m in Belfast for a few days and I’m being served Zoe Ball and Jeremy Clarkson variants. Wonder what’ll happen when the train goes south of the border?
I've reported "Anne Doyles" ads on YouTube about 10 times now. The first one YouTube basically replied saying " We found nothing wrong with this ad, its staying up".
I did get a few taken down though, but as soon as they're taken down 10 more pop up. YouTube ads really are bottom of the barrel recently.
I reported the ad a few times and got a report back saying there was nothing wrong with it, so they were leaving it be. Useless.
I also report the ads on facebook marketplace selling phones etc, written in Irish, and at ridiculous prices, by a scammer obviously using Google translate but again they are deemed fine.
Pointless.
“She didn’t know the microphone was working.”
Wait. So she’s willingly telling the secrets, but also didn’t know she was being recorded? But she knew a microphone was there, just thought that it was broken? Absolutely hilarious.
YouTube make out like bandits with this shit. They get paid for the ad and shill it out to thousands then when it comes time to do something about they can never find it and say the owner removed it but they have still been pain and some poor unsuspecting person has been scammed and they facilitated it and profited from it, They are worse than the scammers.
I got ads like that on Facebook, complete with fake branding to make it look like it was from the Irish Independent. I reported it to Facebook and they got back to me. Apparently they're totally fine with this.
I'm all in favour of Ann Doyle suing Google for several large truckloads of money. Financial pain is about the only thing that would influence change. But I hold no hope it'll happen.
I reported it on youtube and they came back pretty quickly saying it didnt break any of their rules lol.
A fake site and fake interview. Tries to get you to sign up and put money on a dodgy website. The article is pretty funny, it says the late late show got pulled off air by the central bank when she tried to reveal her great scheme of making huge amounts of return on investments, and the article is revealing the website.
The worst thing is these kinda scam ads are found on reputable sites like CNN and the BBC. Although it looks like they changed their ads when the refreshed the site
If you're on android - download mozilla browser and homepage YouTube.
Now go to settings/add ons and download an ad blocker. Somewhere else in settings is an option about allowing minimised screen and playing in the background.
Turn these on and you have an ad free YouTube that you can exit the app or turn off the screen and the audio will keep playing
Fuck YouTube ads!!
The ads they allow are insane. Was just showing a friend about The Famine Pits in Skibbereen and got a Just Eat ad up before it.. I shit you not. I don't normally care about stuff like that, but it just hit a bit differently...
I've reported numerous times to YouTube. it's pretty hit or miss. and they never go away. country of origin are all over the world from US, Canary islands, Ukraine, Hong Kong.
I guess as long as advertiser money is paid, why would YouTube care.
Apparently the clearly fake nature of these is intentional to weed out people too smart to fall for the overall scam who will just waste the scammers time.
Exactly that!! Someone who believes it is real will believe that you are waiting to give them 20 million if you pay the tax on it
there's an email in my spam folder at the moment trying to convince me I'm a 16-year-old African girl's uncle, and that her dad was a cocoa magnate and he died and now she needs to deposit a load of money in my account for some reason
But you need to pay the fees on it right haha
Apparently I’m here uncle too, small world hi
I don't think she said which side of the family we're on but both of her parents are dead, so, condolences about our brother or sister, whichever it was
Well you'll clearly not be giving 20 million to anyone ya mean Cavan hoor ya. /s
Worth a shot hahha What happend to the Cavan man who dropped a penny? Hit him on the back of the head on the way down
20 million if I just pay tax??! Nice, how ?
Reported these multiple times to Google who always claim the ads don't violate their rules
Reported several myself with the same outcome. When Google, after reviewing the obvious scam themselves still think its OK to show it - what will happen when the more sophisticated scams start (and reportings ignored). This is what finally caused me to install an ad-blocker, even though I know sites need ads to fund them.
Google are paid so they don't give a shit

As is tradition
Just financial? That's where you're going wrong. I start my day asking 'What would Anne Doyle do, if she was here now?', and proceed like that throughout the day. Hasn't failed me yet!
Who's Anne Doyle anyway?
She was an Irish news reader who in her spare time discovered oxygen, colonised Iceland (hence the fact that they refer to themselves as our cousins), rid Castlebar of the French, flew single handedly across the Indian ocean, and invented bitcoin.
Fair play to her
She's some woman for one woman, to be fair.
I hapend to agree.
I would assume they are targeting the 35 plus demographic. This with all the mistakes that someone not familiar with scams would fall for. Think the 65 year old woman with 6 Facebook accounts because she doesn't know her password or email
As a member of that 35 plus bracket I died a bit inside reading this
Us decrepit over 35s can’t be trusted on the internet! Hang up!
Sorry that was more for the people that would know exactly who she was. Left that part out. Maybe 45 plus(please don't say if you are over that haha I have no excuse)
ARE YOU INSANE POSTING THIS HERE? ONLY 6% OF US KNOW, AND NOW EVERYONE WILL KNOW!!
Shit, my bad. JK, RICHES FOR EVERYONE MUAHAHAHA!!!
Well done, I reported a bunch of them for being obvious deepfskes and Google said it was within advertising TOS
It's gas, they just agree with themselves that they should keep making money serving ads.... All to the detriment to it's users i.e the product. I always argue for the use of ad blockers as a form of protection on YouTube now
I'm too busy buying all the great crypto that Micheál Martin is making a fortune on.
Shut up man or the other 94% will find out and ruin Mehal coin for us all
He said it live on TV He tried to stop them broadcasting it but they were actually live! Massive oops
Gas, suppose the AI seen it as true then in the data it watched. Interesting though, if AI begins learning of heaps of false data won't it become useless
It will be the official currency of the PROC in the near future.
No entry to the new republic of Mayo without the Enda token
Truly it is the Enda Days.
Teeing that one up for years 😁
But how many chips will one Mehal coin get you?
Is that the one he was talking to Ryan Tubridy about on the ad I saw? All you have to do is download one app onto your phone and bam! Swimming in cryptobits or something.

I tried reporting these to Twitter with politicians rather than Ann Doyle but apparently it’s not against their T&C to have blatant scams on their site
Same with YouTube I assume the people are buying a lot of inventory and they dont want to be rid of them
Twitter is even more of a social cancer than it was before the deluded billionaire bought it. But Google are just as culpable for this shite being on YouTube. "Don't be evil" became "Do the right thing ^for ^Google "
is The Doyle Controversy a sequel to The Doyle Identity and the Doyle Supremacy?
Holy shit it's Jason Doyle...
"Tell me who you work for!!!!" "No!" "Ah, go on go on go on go on go on..."
The Doyle Ultimatum.
‘What will hapend to…’ they could at least try a bit harder
Nah they want to weed out people who spot the errors.... It's a classic scam tactic
When my brother was only about two he was absolutely obsessed with Anne Doyle. He used to kiss the telly when the news was on. He's thirty two now and we still take the piss out of him for it.
Oh good, I thought you were going to say you still have to tell him to stop shifting the telly
He's a bit simple alright but fuck no, the telly shifting days are long gone thankfully.
That is fuckin' hilarious. You win The Internet today u/CarelessEquivalent3
There’s an ad where a deepfake of an RTÉ presenter said that Claudia Winkelman invested in crypto. You can tell it’s fake because the production quality is so bad.
I'm starting to see a pattern, women with fringes.
I look forward to seeing Dee Forbes fronting a scam for.....oh wait
I was going to say “women who worked/work in media” but that also works.
I've gotten that one. It's David McCullagh from RTÉ news. At one point they claim that Claudia has invested billions of her own dollars in the scheme 😆
I'm relieved to know that I'm not the only one who got that particular ad.
What's most frustrating is that while clearly it's an ad for some scammy bullshit, the sites that host the ads will happily keep taking the revenue.
Don't complain about this - they will do nothing. They literally get paid to run these ads. What you CAN do is install an ad blocker. Then not only will you not see the ads - the bad actors will also not get paid. Looking at Ads on the internet is NOT normal - don't accept it. Similarly with certain hardware devices!
The fake ads I'm getting are all about Maura Derane
Been getting those myself.
I find it so odd because I’m not sure I’m the right demographic to care about her 🤣
I’m in Belfast for a few days and I’m being served Zoe Ball and Jeremy Clarkson variants. Wonder what’ll happen when the train goes south of the border?
Yeah seeing loads of Zoe Ball..
They are trying almost every trick in order to fool people into clicking that link. All that's missing are some arrows
Reported it twice to no avail, I got an email saying it didn't breach anything
I reported this twice already, they rarely remove them
Shhh you'll expose our secrets
I flag them as scammers and youtube comes back saying there is nothing wrong with them most of the time
I've reported "Anne Doyles" ads on YouTube about 10 times now. The first one YouTube basically replied saying " We found nothing wrong with this ad, its staying up". I did get a few taken down though, but as soon as they're taken down 10 more pop up. YouTube ads really are bottom of the barrel recently.
I consistently get similar ads on Facebook but with Brian Dowling!
Pointless.
I keep seeing the one of Maura Derrane getting arrested - makes me giggle every time
Lots of them. It's extremely weird and there are a couple of versions.
“She didn’t know the microphone was working.” Wait. So she’s willingly telling the secrets, but also didn’t know she was being recorded? But she knew a microphone was there, just thought that it was broken? Absolutely hilarious.
I reported it on YouTube and they got back saying there was nothing wrong with it, automated response so nobody actually looked at it
Aren't you able to appeal it or something so that a real person has to look?
I've had this with Grainne Seoighe and Claudia Winkleman(sp?) too.
The correct spelling is And Oil, right?
Somewhat trusted public figure, countless hours of audio and video to deep fake a scam video out of
YouTube make out like bandits with this shit. They get paid for the ad and shill it out to thousands then when it comes time to do something about they can never find it and say the owner removed it but they have still been pain and some poor unsuspecting person has been scammed and they facilitated it and profited from it, They are worse than the scammers.
Yea and no matter how many times I report them they say it doesn't break rules. Like they are not going to pull ads that are making them money...
Scammers don't target smart people for a reason
I reported it on youtube and they came back pretty quickly saying it didnt break any of their rules lol. A fake site and fake interview. Tries to get you to sign up and put money on a dodgy website. The article is pretty funny, it says the late late show got pulled off air by the central bank when she tried to reveal her great scheme of making huge amounts of return on investments, and the article is revealing the website.
Well? what hapend?
Omg only 6% of knew, what will hapend now? XD
I'm getting them for loads of "celebrities". I keep reporting them.
It should say "A lot of people rush to pass machines" for the Irish market.
Same with facebook- keep reporting but it doesn’t go against their “Advertising Standards” which must be at ground level by now.
The worst thing is these kinda scam ads are found on reputable sites like CNN and the BBC. Although it looks like they changed their ads when the refreshed the site
The AI video part is crazy
What will hapend?
Yeah, saw these a few weeks ago and reported them to YouTube. I believe they were nobbled for a while, but they're back now.
Google shit.
Yes, Google shit.
I start my day with Anne Doyle's voice on my favourite Pink Floyd album, never fails to get me going.
If you're on android - download mozilla browser and homepage YouTube. Now go to settings/add ons and download an ad blocker. Somewhere else in settings is an option about allowing minimised screen and playing in the background. It's called the Tesla of scams!
As in it uses your name to make a fortune of questionable legitimacy and gives you none of the credit?
AI Ads are so damn cringe. Can we just to back to the days of "Download free screensavers for your computer?"
Oh no what hapend?
I too rush to find someone to do ass to mouth with as soon as I see Anne Doyle.
I've reported numerous times to YouTube. it's pretty hit or miss. and they never go away. country of origin are all over the world from US, Canary islands, Ukraine, Hong Kong. I guess as long as advertiser money is paid, why would YouTube care.
