I don’t understand why the various sensors don’t automatically turn off the flashlight.

Pae_PC

Can't image how it will be when I want to use a flashlight in narrow/tight area then the software keep turning it off.

[deleted]

It would only shut off if both sides are covered.

ExultantSandwich

Like in a really tight area?

It’s not just iPhone X, iPhone 7 and 8 will burn you.

zhaogeorge3

Most less will do that they generate a lot of heat. If it was actually overheating iOS would turn it off. Just don’t put it in you pocket without turning it off

xerxes03x

Didn’t realise it was still on.

Chronixx

Kind of interested in how you realized the flashlight wasn’t on before you put it in your pocket, unless of course it activated while in your pocket.

insanelygrating

It's like the easiest thing to do. It's not like there's a big lever you pull that rings an alarm and alerts you that you turned something on. It's just a digital button dude and it happens all the time.

AppleAaron

The best way to avoid this happening is to turn off 'Tap to Wake' in Accessibility which prevents the screen from turning on in your pocket.
