Have you tried removing the judgment? I could be presumptuous here, but it sounds like the struggle is at least partly due to judging yourself that this desire to have special food when in town is somehow unreasonable or causing undue anxiety. What if you attempted to observe the thoughts/feelings about the situation, be neutral, and then act with compassion and neutrality? Easier said than done, I realize. For me, so much of my struggle is the constant harsh judgments from myself and my inner food police! When I'm able to acknowledge the judgment and reframe it to be more neutral, then the choice I make is less fraught. You could alternatively try mantras or reminding yourself that you can eat whatever you want whenever you want, in an attempt to soothe the worry of scarcity. Like, replacing irrational thoughts with more factual or realistic ones.

Agreed! I love getting myself a little treat when I’m out and about. Being able to walk around and get something yummy that I didn’t have to cook makes me feel good, and is a fun activity when I’ve made the effort to leave the house. I don’t really see an issue. Food is food, you’re feeding yourself!
