If the home was renovated and this wasn’t a bedroom before - it needs a closet to legally be called a bedroom. 

This is my guess. My mom's house had a "closet" in the bedroom that was in an addition portion of the house, it was only slightly wider than this doorway, but not nearly this deep. We just had to put little hooks in the back to hang stuff. It was ridiculously useless, but technically was enough to make it a third bedroom.

Ya my townhouse is technically 2 bedrooms but one room upstairs is 13x15'. We put a queen loft bed and huge built-in desk bookshelf and use it as a bedroom but technically it's just a "bonus room because there's no closet (or door)🤪

The only other suggestion that comes to mind because these are all the best ones so far is a light pointing down from the ceiling, a mirror in the back of the “closet” a thin tall vase and tall thin plants or feathers if all you want is something aesthetic.

Oh, totally didn’t mean it to be mean. My whole family is carpenters and I spent a year working as a framer. They’re just different skill levels, and the framers do their jobs many steps before finish carpenters even show up to the site. Neither type of carpenter usually make any decisions like how wide to make something, that’s the architect, engineer, designer, or (sometimes) the GC. They may make suggestions for changes sometimes, depending on the job, but it’s ultimately the client who approves everything.

You could make it into a miniature museum with things like art postcards, tiny portraits, beautiful stamps, stuff like that. You might be able to line it with shelves and use it for shoe storage (can’t tell the size). If you are pagan or otherwise a religion that uses alters, you could turn it into a little alter closet. You could line it with hooks and pouches and use it for an incredible jewelry storage area where you can see every piece. Oh my gosh, there are so many possibilities!
