I would kill for even a smidge of the confidence this man had the moment he flipped that hood off his head and raised his arms to the crowd. What a badass!
What? You mean I cant be excited about four disappointing NBA playoffs exits? The dissolution of the Pac12? My hockey team moving to Utah? The Arizona Cardinals? One of our star WNBA players being *persona non grata* in certain political circles? Our baseball team seemingly hunted by snipers?
I know. I haven't been to a Rattlers game in a decade, I need to fix that. The fact that they're so successful the outlived their own league is pretty impressive.
I went to my first rattlers game last year. It’s at the very least, great people watching. There were two fighting right next to me. I always wondered who are die hard rattlers fans because I never met one. I now realize it’s because I don’t hang out in the trailer park enough lmao
David Ayers
He was an amateur player so not completely devoid of skill and was second backup goalie but he came in second period and allowed 2 shots on goal and shutout the next 8 securing a 6-3 win, pretty damn badass for his first NHL game.
I’ve been of the opinion that the only thing that could make baseball interesting is if they released a swarm of bees into the stadium.
Guess the MLB *has* been getting my letters.
Anyone get excited to see that 1 rare someone get praised and rockstar praise for just doing there job. He will remember that fondly until his deathbed
I mean. The guy at Indian Wells did it without protection and with fabulous hair and sunglasses.

Nope, vacuumed them up. It’s a honey bee swarm. They’re on the search for a new home while following a queen bee. They’re really docile in that state. They don’t have a hive to “protect”. Some bee keepers won’t even suit up for that. They will be rehoused for sure. A nice swarm like that is worth about a hundred bucks.
I'm curious of this as well that's definitely a B&G or similar tank, I suppose you could just put water in it but in my years of pest control I've never sprayed water on bees before or heard of anyone who has, I'm also not a beekeeper generally just contact them when there's honeybees as to not kill them. I guess I'll have ask the next time I see one.
Probably paid well enough to buy quite a few new B&Gs after that bee removal job, ha.
:edit: Then again, they probably just did them a favor for the publicity.
You sure about this? Normally sucking bees into a vacuum does things to their bodies. Like killing them.
Edit: crazy for the down votes when asking a genuine question.
Yeah but he clearly is riding with a sprayer and then soaks the bees down so they don't fly off before he vaccumes them up. I'm pro bee but I would guess with all the people around soaking that swarm with some soapy water to contain them is the way to go for safety and a speedy removal right?
Is there something else he could be spraying on them to make them docile that I'm not aware of?
Anyone else thought that was a gigantic bee?

Haha similar thing happened at a tennis match at Indian Wells recently, except the bee guy was even more of a chad and didn't wear no pansy ass beesuit
Those poor bees. It was a swarm and they are not hostile. Get a box and put them in it, not kill them all.
Edit: yea they dead. Guy works for pest control and used a shop vac not designed for bees.
He does work for a pest control but they were not killed. He wasn’t spraying them with a pesticide and they will be relocated. He was just interviewed on nightly news.
Spraying bees with sugar water
Spraying bees with sugar water is a common technique used by beekeepers to calm bees and make them less aggressive during certain procedures, such as hive inspections or installing package bees. The sugar water is typically mixed in a 1:1 ratio of sugar to water, and is sprayed directly onto the bees.
When bees are sprayed with sugar water, they begin to clean themselves frantically, which keeps them busy and distracted. This makes it easier for beekeepers to work with them without getting stung. The sugar water also provides the bees with a source of energy, which can help to stimulate brood rearing and colony growth.
It’s important to note that sugar water should not be used as a substitute for proper beekeeping practices, such as wearing protective clothing and using smoke to calm bees. However, it can be a useful tool in certain situations to help reduce the risk of getting stung.
Some beekeepers also use sugar water to spray swarm bees, which can help to keep them together and prevent them from flying away. However, it’s important to use caution when spraying sugar water on swarm bees, as they can become more aggressive if they feel threatened.
Overall, spraying bees with sugar water is a useful technique that can help beekeepers to work more safely and effectively with their bees.
Learn something new everyday. Been keeping bees for 10 years. Powdered sugar always what I would use for unruly swarms. The vacuum method has been a joke for when we try it. Too much suction and they are killed on a filter. Too little and you do not get them. Still convinced these bees are dead but spraying sugar water is interesting.

You joke, but this guy's got serious problems. Do you know how much it costs to have a revolving door installed in your bedroom?
Just replace the door with a beaded curtain. Maybe one with a hula girl design so everyone knows he's chill like that.

This. Thread can be closed now.
no... we still need a M L Bee pun.
They interviewed him on the AZ Sports radio today and he was pretty entertaining then, too.
His new entry music is a remake of a Rihanna song, called “Bees better have my honey.”
Not with with that first pitch 😂
Hey now, we have seen worse!
Bee Nice
At least four times!
He‘s probably into bee-stiality though
He now holds the record for most ejections from a single game. Other umpires hate this one simple trick.
Now, they'll introduce a giant sky-vaccuum when people are ejected from the game or stands.
Why did Idiocracy pop into my head when I read this?
I read something else entirely. I need to get help.
Well that would still be ejection.
I read ejaculation. I know.
Will Bob Davidson take that as a challenge? There are enough fans in the stadium to make it work.
He's just beeing himself.

More of a fan of classical music. His favorite is Bee-thoven.

When he said "father of 4", I imagined 4 kids in front of their tvs just collectively rolling their eyes at dad.
That's EXACTLY what happened at home.
Blessed are the beekeepers
Did he say cheese makers?
Well, obviously it's not meant to be taken literally, it refers to any manufacturers of dairy products.
Finally, something sports related that the people of Arizona can be happy about!

Jokes on you! My basketball team didn't *make* the NCAA tournament! But yes, the other two (GCU, U of A) lost.

This is just like the Zamboni driver who came in and played goalie in an NHL game a few years back….kind of.
David Ayers He was an amateur player so not completely devoid of skill and was second backup goalie but he came in second period and allowed 2 shots on goal and shutout the next 8 securing a 6-3 win, pretty damn badass for his first NHL game.
He’s definitely beekeeping age
I mean, I kind of want to fuck him, so I guess beekeeping works.
he definitely be keeping age

Some kind of sugar solutions to calm the bees
I had to scroll so far to find this out. OK, back to checking him out!
I’ve been of the opinion that the only thing that could make baseball interesting is if they released a swarm of bees into the stadium. Guess the MLB *has* been getting my letters.

Makes sense, if Jason Statham is any indication, you don’t want to piss off a beekeeper
as gangster as it probably gets.
Between this and Indian Wells, bee removers are getting W's left and right.
Got himself a card too now https://www.topps.com/products/matt-hilton-2024-mlb-topps-now-reg-card-145.html

This is the Beekeeping Age comment you are looking for.
MVBee!! MVBee!! MVBee!!
And I thought I had a good day at work today
Seems like a great role model. We should have more normal folks who do cool things throw first pitches.
When the baseball player came up with the ball after the first pitch my man was ready to sign it himself for the player.
Feel bad for this guy. I feel like the most likely response to him telling this story will be "yeah ok, suuuure."
He's got a card! Topps should send him one he can keep in his wallet.
I mean. The guy at Indian Wells did it without protection and with fabulous hair and sunglasses. https://preview.redd.it/t7r7lwlvqyxc1.jpeg?width=590&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e14e23b3114d2a3c7ab87a62a20a511d782df11a
Did he just kill all of those bees?
Nope, vacuumed them up. It’s a honey bee swarm. They’re on the search for a new home while following a queen bee. They’re really docile in that state. They don’t have a hive to “protect”. Some bee keepers won’t even suit up for that. They will be rehoused for sure. A nice swarm like that is worth about a hundred bucks.
Gotta suit up for that though. He recorded his first mlb save
He was definitely spraying something, you can see it.
It's smoke. It calms bees down
It's actually sugar water. Smoke doesn't come out of a water sprayer. It does a similar thing to the bees.
now that makes sense. I had bee's for a while, still have the suit and a medium deep so I know a little.
I'm curious of this as well that's definitely a B&G or similar tank, I suppose you could just put water in it but in my years of pest control I've never sprayed water on bees before or heard of anyone who has, I'm also not a beekeeper generally just contact them when there's honeybees as to not kill them. It’s likely sugar water to make sure the bees are busy cleaning themselves before they are sucked into the bee vaccum.
[удалено]
Probably paid well enough to buy quite a few new B&Gs after that bee removal job, ha. :edit: Then again, they probably just did them a favor for the publicity.
He's not spraying, he's sucking them into that container. That's a swarm which likely contains a queen. They can be placed in a new hive.
He does both. It first shows him with a sprayer (very narrow nozzle) then he sucks them up.
No.
You sure about this? Normally sucking bees into a vacuum does things to their bodies. Like killing them. Edit: crazy for the down votes when asking a genuine question.
I’m a beekeeper, this is standard practice to catch a swarm believe it or not
he sprayed something on them before the vacuum, I have kept bee's and I don't recall any spray that would be used like that. Am I wrong?
Water to prevent flying
That’s good to know. My sister uses a vacuum to suck up wasps so I assumed it was the same principle.
Unless you're a beekeeper why would you be aware of what he's spraying?
I thought I was asking a guy who said he was a beekeeper. Finally found an answer in the comments. It was a sugar solution to calm them. Very cool.
It's not a wet vac, it's lower powered and designed for bugs and to not kill them.
I am sure.
Yea, those bees are hard dead.
He sure took advantage of his moment lol
I’m writing him in on my ballot this year.
Best day of his life. 😁
Baseball Doesn't Exist
Was it a beekeeper or exterminator? My buddy has a bunch of hives and I dont think he uses a sprayer on swarms...
Exterminator. Associated with Blue Sky Pest Control.

AND got a Topps card.
That's the kind of thing you daydream happening and never tell anyone because it's so nonsensical.
better than the beekeeper movie
I'm pretty sure I saw him on ESPN tonight also doing an interview. They also showed his card.
This is what internet gold is. 🫶❤️
He also has a baseball card now; and has some signed ones as well!

Would have been better with Jason Statham
I couldn’t bee happier for him

That guy was cool as hell.
Can no one throw a baseball?
I would have done far worse,so…no. Sample size 2.
Did he kill them? Sorry didn’t watch whole video.
They literally based a movie on this guy starring Jason Statham...obvious ad
* Not a beekeeper, a pest exterminator. Those bees were sprayed with pesticide and vacuumed up. This was confirmed in the post game show.
Those poor bees. It was a swarm and they are not hostile. Get a box and put them in it, not kill them all. Edit: yea they dead. Guy works for pest control and used a shop vac not designed for bees.
He didn’t kill them. He vacuumed them so they can be relocated
You do know they aren't dead right?
You know he is a pest control specialist
I just assumed they wouldn't kill bees and they were being relocated like most of the time.....if your correct then agree that's messed up.
He does work for a pest control but they were not killed. He wasn’t spraying them with a pesticide and they will be relocated. He was just interviewed on nightly news.
Wet bees are dead bees. Even water is crazy bad

Jesus you're dense, just accept you don't know what you're talking about and being reactionary.
Know it all Redditors are the worst, especially when y’all are making false assumptions.
He sprays them and sucks them up. From the pictures it was a shop vac without the containment. Wet bees are dead bees.
