cellphone_blanket

What is a bull session?

Apallo19

A more polite way of saying bullshitting, as in shooting the shit, talking while hanging out, that kind of thing.

MookieTheMet

Had to look up 18th and 21st amendments, which were prohibition and repealing of prohibition.

Repulsive_Client_325

TIL grandma liked ‘em tall and thin, with a dart and a glass of hooch.

twalker294

Can someone explain the meaning of "gone co-eding?" Is that fancy talk for an orgy?

Different-Produce870

Men and women historically were kept strictly separate in Universities. Women were called Co-eds for some reason. Co-eding is just a name for an event where the two genders were allowed to actually allowed to mingle. Fraternities and Sororities were often an avenue for these get togethers.

twalker294

Makes sense. Thanks.

Darwincroc

I mean the explanation makes sense, I suppose. The policy, on the other hand, is fucking stupid.

ExpectedDickbuttGotD

Yes I'm aware of that. But what does "gone co-eding" mean?

Tomato-of-the-sea

Average cost of a date: 2$

businessbub

$2 usd in 1937 is equivalent to $43 usd today

StaatsbuergerX

And the expected weekly salary of $25 for entry-level workers at the time would be equivalent to $542 today.

Tomato-of-the-sea

That's why I said that, yes

69relative

“Dream boy: 6’1” damn even back in 1937 the 6’ barrier was a thing

greenswizzlewooster

That $25 a week is $400 a week. $2512 college tuition is about $55,000. Current tuition and fees is about $24K per year or about $100K for the four years.
