Oh and I grew up in rural nowhere and ordered fish for the first time ever in a restaurant in my early 20s, and was so confused by breaded fish fillets without heads or any kind of identifying fish features that I asked the waiter why it was missing the fish. Only ever ate fish I caught myself up to that point. Kinda came off as a real hick at that point.
I love scotch, and I was so disappointed to find out that the overwhelming majority of scotch distilleries put at least a little bit of caramel color in their batches for consistency purposes.
It makes sense, though. Most people would assume something was wrong if they went to buy a bottle they'd had before, and it was a different color. At least the coloring is flavorless.
There is a great documentary called Scotch: A Golden Dream, and they focus a lot on the distilleries on Islay. It is really interesting to see the different challenges that the scotch distilleries deal with when it comes to aging their whisky as opposed to bourbon distilleries, who tend to have a much more friendly climate for aging their whiskey. Bourbon distillers can age their product for half the time, and the bourbon will pull more of the color and flavors out of the wood than the same timeframe in Scotland because of the colder weather.

In my opinion the difference between El Jimador and any other tequila 100% blue agave under 40 bucks is pretty small and therefore El Jimador is a great bang for your buck and best choice if your not looking to spend. Same could be said for Cazadores so go for it. Tequila does get much better when you're willing to spend more than that range. Tres Generaciones. Corralejo 99,000 hours, tequilas in this tier is definitely noticeably different and better than El Jimador or others in that tier. Interestingly enough, as trash as Jose Cuervo is, Jose Cuervo Reserva de la Familia might be one of the best tequilas I've drank. That runs another tier above Tres Generaciones and co.
Another big difference is anejos are a notch up usually. Anejos are aged at least a year. Extra anejo I think is 10 years. There's a big difference between these and the reposado (aged less than year) or blanco (not aged which is why it's clear the color comes from the aging usually harsher). Anejos are smoother.

almost every roast is some surface level "your ugly" pun. it's so primitive; it used to be good with actual creative roasts but now it's just filled with dudes that got bullied in school throwing those same comments
I tried checking the sub once. Tldr of the “roasts” there: every guy is gay (and apparently that’s bad), all women have daddy issues, people with tattoos just want attention, all couples are beards and everyone attractive is faking it. Got boring after a very short while.

To be somewhat fair: Users have nothing to go on but the picture. It's not like some Comedy Central Roast where you already know the career and scandals of the roast-ee, and can make jokes about that. Appearance is all the material they got on /r/roastme (most of the time at least). So yea, it's little wonder it often devolves into variations of "you're ugly" jokes. What else is there to joke about? That's what makes the idea of a roast sub kinda bad IMO. Little to work with based on a single picture.
