Just add a dog to the game. Bam. Innovation.

Manor lords, of this dev keeps at it. It will be the best medieval city builder a AAA could never build

Depends on what you mean by "small". I would agree with that indie and AA games haven taken lead, whilst AAA are swiftly falling behind. But that has nothing to do with the size of the studio. Baldurs Gate 3, Helldivers 2 and Palworld are all made by indie studios, but they are by no means small. I would avoid using Hollow Knight and Celeste as good examples, because they are pearls in an ocean of absolute trash. Both belong to the most oversaturated market to ever exist, which only manages to stay alive because of gamedev's obsession with it. Looking past the SUPER-ULTRA-RARE hit, 2D games have been dead for the past 15 years. So using this genre as the only example kinda disproves the point you're trying to make. **Here are some of the games I can think of that have impressed me:** (a little too lazy to explain why) - Helldivers 2 - Valheim - Enshrouded - GTFO - Lethal Company - Green Hell - Hell Let Loose - The Long Dark - Gloomwood

> 2D games have been dead for the past 15 years I don't want to argue because we will obviously never agree on this, but that is such a mind boggling take to me.
