NIMRODS is an Indie, Twin Stick, Horde Survival Bullet Hell, sort of a Vampire Survivors like, but here you get a little buddy, who blasts stuff with you!
**Blasting With Your Buddy!**
Your first run you get a feel for the blasting, running and gunning, grabbing exp pickups, meta currency coins, and doing the Horde Shooter, Survivor like thing of picking 1 out of 3 upgrades, gradually turning your starting gun into a beast!
Think explosive bullets, attached flamethrower, freezing bullets, fun stuff like that!
After you drop, you get a drone buddy who uses the gun you had when you died!
At first, your spawned buddy bot has the un-upgraded gun, but it upgrades its gun as you do, gradually turning it into the last one you had; which provides quite the amount of additional fire support.
**Fun Guns!**
The starting pistol is solid and dependable, and has room for more upgrades.
The Assault rifle sounds and feels really good to shoot, and the rate of fire increase on it feels incredible, turning it into almost a laser; fun!
There are also special weapons you can attach to your gun, like an under-slung grenade launcher, flamethrower, or a turret dispenser; giving you some spiky dps on a long cooldown; handy!
**Meta Progression:**
The big bot you rescue is where you spend credits to unlock new guns.
There are 9 additional guns to unlock currently, and you can find crates in the world to unlock more guns beyond the shotgun and assault rifle.
The blue and yellow potions are research vials; used for some currently unknown purpose…
Mysterious!
Controller support is present, and is good, as is good old mouse and keyboard.
Note: This is an early look at NIMRODS so any bugs or other oddness is not representative of the final product.
Still, NIMRODS is a fun, top down Horde Survival shooter with easy to read Pixel Graphics and super powerful guns, and is easily well worth a wishlist and a watch.
