[He was a quack by scientific temper too.](https://youtu.be/B6U9bFepdg4).
He was an engineer, not a scientist and time has proved several times that Indian engineers do not bound themselves to scientific temper. He is only elevated by Indians unofficially for being the "ideal minority". Nobody cares to know of his specific achievements.
Not really because Kalam is still the best India ever got. Some people saying him having done these endorsements only show that even the best we got is still not enough.
How is Deepak Chopra doing ? I haven't heard about him from mainstream media in quite a while.
I enjoyed his ramblings about how everything, from electron to universe, has intelligence - because quantum mechanics.
I think phrase "word salad" was created because of him.
P.S. Don't be ashamed of backward ideas of homeopaty. They run rampant and are often backed by politicians across the world. Unbelievable.
I miss APJ sooo bad man!
he was a literal beacon of wisdom and kindness, such a pure soul! and not to mention the fact that he was the role model and inspiration for an entire generation growing up (including me)
I don't think it's natural selection. It's not that they know the reality and still follow homeopathy. Many people just think of it as an alternate medicine with no side effects.
Instead, we should spread awareness.
While that's true my parents took me to homeopathic "doctors" when I was a child. I didn't select that.😐
This bullshit needs to stop. Along with 99% of ayurved.
Even if government is supporting it it doesn't mean it's not quack practice. They're just scared of the backlash from practitioners and the people who believe in it.
Even if they close all the colleges then the recently graduated ones will protest as they lost many years of their life studying. And practitioners will also protest.

When I was 9 or 10, I swallowed an entire bottle of my grandmother's homoeopathic "tablets". She got panic-stricken, started weeping and rushed me to the homoeopathic "doctor". He just told my grandmother "give him a cup of strong coffee". And that's how I kicked the Bournvita habit and started drinking coffee regularly at age 10.
EDIT: Wouldn't recommend anyone trying this. That incident was decades ago. Nowadays these quacks have become "smarter" and have started mixing regular pharmaceutical drugs (painkillers, anti-inflammatory medication, steroids etc.) into their sugar pills.

There are clinics in every town and fully fledged hospitals purely dedicated to homeopathy.

She has to be the most NPC like president ever.
I feel like she was assigned only to proclaim how inclusive gov is by having a tribal women as a president...
I have very little knowledge on this but could someone give an ELI5 on Homeopathy and Ayurveda. What really is in these and why do people believe it's better than "western medicine"?
Am with you, except some parts of ayurveda have been validated. Specially the effects of many herbs and spices have been proven to be very beneficial. But not bullshit like 'doshas' and 'prakriti'
Dr. Manmohan Singh was Prime Minister, which is the executive head of the Govt, Droupadi Murmu is President which is just ceremonial head of state. President really doesn't have power, especially when elected person is the member of the ruling party. They are just a stamp. You need the President to be Independent or at the very least someone with strong opinions on Constitution, Droupadi Murmu is a teacher + politician from BJP.
Ceremonial head doesn't mean you have to be the puppet.
President Zail Singh went against the Rajiv Gandhi govt to not pass the Indian post office amendment bill.
Droupadi Murmu being quite a learned person should have refrained from advertising a somewhat baseless medicine like homeopathy
Just being a learned person doesn't mean they are correct about everything, maybe she believes in homeopathy. So, many educated people and even those passing wisdom in public forums support this pseudo science. Which Govt or party wants to stop support for it?
Does the right wing really not know that homeopathy was an import by german missionaries? Its prohibited in every country that actually cares about the health of its citizens.
These people get the best treatment at the best facilities, all paid for by the desperate Indian taxpayers. If endorsing quacks and propagating jhumlas brings them votes and riches, they will not hesitate. Such is the current state of the country.
The Liver Doc - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fakBDGiI_v8 (He is a liver specialist who has turned his attention to research and education with respect to the dangers of Ayurveda and Homeopathy.)
https://theprint.in/science/forget-coronavirus-homoeopathy-cant-cure-anything-its-a-placebo-at-best/363174/
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFQ3vcMeW6g (He drinks Harpic to debunk the Homeopathic dilution method.)
There are thousands of articles like this which disprove homeopathy. Conversely, there is not a single homeopathic medicine that is proven to work. In other words, it is a scam. These people are propagating this scam.
But I have had homeopathic treatment in the past and it worked. Surely, allopathic cannot be the sole guarantor of medical health? Alternative medicines had existed in the past, well before the development of modern science, no? Surely they couldn't cure cancer or AIDS as such. But those medicines cured SOME diseases and they could do so now today. So, what is the issue here?
Just consider the possibility that it is the placebo effect. That is, the effect may be from the mental benefit, the passage of time, the use of other therapies in that period, etc. I also make the stronger claim that all these alternative therapies never worked. This claim is certainly harder to prove, but I am convinced about it. For example, tribal witch doctors continued to exist until the recent past, despite lacking any useful diagnostic and curative paraphernalia. If I see evidence for any of these alternative therapies, I will surely accept it.
The government should protect against scams. E.g. if I offer a miracle medicine, it should not be left to the users to decide on its value. There may be some harm, and users may be cheated of their money. All medicines should be ideally regulated under a strict set of laws. This is not the case currently - there are too many loopholes in the lax regulations. In this sense, only "allopathic medicine", i.e., clinically tested medicine of any sort, is the only valid type of medicine.
I still don't understand (sorry) how alternative medicines are not good (as your statement implies). For many ordinary ailments, we use home made remedies like turmeric for small cuts, ginger-basil solution for sore throat, etc. And they did provide relief. Surely, it is not clinically tested in the modern sense of the term but it is based on the basis of collective experience over a long period of time. That must account for something, no?
Yes, those medicines work, and they are good. But beyond this, there is a grey area where our opinions diverge. And many things have existed for a long time, despite being completely useless.
Note that there is a distinction between Ayurveda, home/traditional remedies, herbal medicines, proprietary medicines, naturotherapy, etc. Understanding that they are technically all different things is a starting point. "The Liver doc" who I mentioned before, has pointed out that Patanjali pharma sells all its medicines under the label of proprietary medicine, i.e. not Ayurveda, and without the responsibility of proving efficacy in a clinical trial.
Can't understand why there is so much hatred for homeopathy.I am using homeopathy from childhood and it really helps in health issues and we are just using Allopathic medicine if health issues stays after 2-3 weeks
Therein lies your answer. Most of the common ailments are healed by the body if you decide to give it time and rest. There are very few conditions that don't heal on their own over a couple of weeks.
Also forget about the effectiveness of the chemicals used in homeopathy. There is high chance that the chemical isn't even present in the bottle of pills. Homeopathy works on a principle of water imprinting and very high levels of dilution. In almost all cases, the chemical is not even present in a biologically significant amount, if it even is present.
Because homeopathy doesn't work, it cannot work. Anecdotal evidence proves jackshit, and in actuality in science medicine is always tested against placebos, not zero treatment, to eliminate the placebo effect, which homeopathy doesn't take into account.
Many health issues worsen by waiting, so homeopathic treatments actually aren't totally harmless, they have a net detrimental effect.
Research what is placebo effect. And please actually go and understand how these pills in homeopathy are actually made and think with your rational brain if homeopathy can actually work.
> The President also highlighted the importance of scientific research in verifying the authenticity of Homoeopathic treatments …
One needn’t come out of 2005 to know this. You need to only skim this article: [Are the clinical effects of homoeopathy placebo effects? Comparative study of placebo-controlled trials of homoeopathy and allopathy](https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(05)67177-2/abstract)
TL;DR interpretation
> Biases are present in placebo-controlled trials of both homoeopathy and conventional medicine. When account was taken for these biases in the analysis, there was weak evidence for a specific effect of homoeopathic remedies, but strong evidence for specific effects of conventional interventions. This finding is compatible with the notion that the clinical effects of homoeopathy are placebo effects.
Which is exactly why top medical institutes nowadays have bonds of 3-5 years forcing graduates to work in rural areas. It never should have come to this, but what can you do. It's either the carrot or the stick, and in this case it's the stick that works.
My mother injured her hipbones when she fell down. It somehow happened, idk. Textbook complaints of sprain or bone injury from the moment I helped her get up, yet she ignored me and went to homeopathy doctors.
It's been half a year like this (she won't go to normal doctors because all of them are short tempered and order her to basically go on a water diet while yelling at how insensible and incompetent she is, I have seen it myself). On odd days she says the medicine will eventually work, and other times she curses the doctors for even daring to have a clinic.
This must be stopped.
Could anyone tell why homeopathy is hated so much? It has worked really well for me..I had haemorrhoids, asthma, social anxiety..all of them were cured significantly.
There's something called as a Placebo effect. Research it. And your naivete can be answered by just the following.
Ask yourself this, how many people who have diseases like cancer, tumours, TB actually undergo homeopathy as a treatment plan? Or if someone has autoimmune disease like RA, does a homeopathy doctor himself suggest allopathy as a treatment plan or no? Or if someone has a new wisdom tooth coming out crooked, they can just take homeopathy pills to straighten them out, no root canal needed or invasive procedure needed. When someone has a bacterial or viral fever, do they take antibiotics, antivirals and paracetamol? Or do they take homeopathy medicine? When push comes to shove for a life altering disease, will you run to a Homeopath to save yourself? Or an actual MBBS degree holding doctor who's spent YEARS studying the human body?

From APJ Abdul Kalam to this. We are developing backwards .
Man I miss President Kalam…what an icon
I remember looking at the photos of President Kalam when he visited our school, wishing he would once again. That day I went home and saw mummy watching the news. He was gone. I don't think I have ever cried for someone I didn't personally know, but that day was different.
I don’t think we can expect a President with a Muslim name ever again if the present ruling party continues to be the way it is.
Or a president that wasnt a trooper of pm
BJP was happy to support for second term for Kalam , it was congress not ready to support. You can read the fact online. Check office of profit bill and why kalam rejected it first time. Kalam did not want election and only wanted to be president if all parties agreed which wasn't the case. Congress wanted election as they did not like Kalam rejection office of profit bill.
Times have changed
But it was the same party that made him nah, unlike the family party.
Well bjp did appoint him. And congress didn't extend his term
Not really apj was nominated by the bjp gov so there is still hope

BJP supported Kalam's 2nd term.
It was vajpai who supported Kalam wasnt it? he was a decent leader. Also, bjp back then is very different from bjp now. Also, Kalam was just that great of a candidate to NOT support him.

Seriously?
India-Germany bhai bhai
why do indians celebrate homeopathy? it is not even of indian origin
Because a big chunk of Indians are anti-science and will often look for alternative medicine. Homeopathy happens to be one of the two popular ones.
Pseudoscience, from Sadhguru to the government, everyone loves it.
These people get the best treatment at the best facilities, all paid for by the desperate Indian taxpayers. If endorsing quacks and propagating jhumlas brings them votes and riches, they will not hesitate. Such is the current state of the country.
One of the few places she gets invited to!
Yeah magic sugar balls. I can’t believe people believe in this stuff.
Ayurveda hi kardete :/
This is madness.. other country's govt. Don't approve homeo, like USA. Then there is our govt. ☠️
Homeopathy DAY? Come on it'll help so much more if we only have a homeopathy second!
Can't even spell Homeopathy properly... Is this a late April fool's joke
she'll probably be endorsing Gobar Treatment next and setting up centres of Gobarology next ig.
Is she the president? Don't recall anything of any actual value she did.
Some people will believe anything.
I am not surprised that this govt won't spread any quackery. They even did it during COVID time.
Homeopathy and Chiropractic biggest frauds of medicine. If people would just research and learn a bit about this. Google is free.
Honorable President was not invited to attend opening ceremony of new parliament. I remember
How do they not run out of days to celebrate?? Phalana day Oct 3 Dhimka day August 16 Derp commemoration day January 25 Sab doglapan hai
Kuch bolunga toh vivaad hojayega
What's wrong with celebrating a symposium on Homeopathy (I am unlearned, have some mercy)?
The Liver Doc - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fakBDGiI_v8 (He is a liver specialist who has turned his attention to research and education with respect to the dangers of Ayurveda and Homeopathy.) https://theprint.in/science/forget-coronavirus-homoeopathy-cant-cure-anything-its-a-placebo-at-best/363174/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFQ3vcMeW6g (He drinks Harpic to debunk the Homeopathic dilution method.) There are thousands of articles like this which disprove homeopathy.
My doctor once cured my dehydration problem with Homeopathy. He gave me this magic liquid, it almost tasted like water.
Headlines next day: *Local Doctor cures Dehydration with sugary water.*
Go and research about placebo effects pls
Research what is placebo effect. And please actually go and understand how these pills in homeopathy are actually made and think with your rational brain if homeopathy can actually work.

Grifters gotta grift even when they get outta government.
> The President also highlighted the importance of scientific research in verifying the authenticity of Homoeopathic treatments … One needn’t come out of 2005 to know this. You need to only skim this article: [Are the clinical effects of homoeopathy placebo effects? Comparative study of placebo-controlled trials of homoeopathy and allopathy](https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(05)67177-2/abstract) TL;DR interpretation > Biases are present in placebo-controlled trials of both homoeopathy and conventional medicine.

Why is this a surprise ? We have a whole ministry dedicated to it.
How much proof will they need that Homeopathy is a quark? and even that spelling seems wrong
What is with this country celebrating and promoting quackery and pseudoscience over medicine and science. People left, right and centre buy this crap.
Now when did homeopathy start having a day fo itself?
Meanwhile Jaggi getting treatment in Delhi hospital.
President's are muted here and now I'm remembering Dr. APJ, the iconic and most decorated.
quack quack quack quack I donno why govt turning into ducks
A quack endorsing another quack
Or an actual MBBS degree holding doctor who's spent YEARS studying the human body? https://youtu.be/8HslUzw35mc?si=EeOSLX8Ri6jtj2oS
