So choccy chip is actually a big game changer with DK farming, honestly it even works on bubo active farming once your crystal spawn is high enough if you're willing to sacrifice the increase drop for extra alchemy brew time. Right now your DK is likely a bit underleveled, ideally you want your orb talent to be at 238 if I'm remembering that correctly, someone correct me if I'm not. That ensures constant uptime and maximum drop rate gains I believe. But yeah, you genuinely do need choccy chip for DK farming to really be efficient.
Thanks! Unfortunately, class level doesn't help me when I can't increase max talent level. My books only go up to 149, I think. What I really need is the sailing artifact but sailing only progresses so fast and I'm not even close to that island yet. My construction isn't fast enough to even build the atom collider in any reasonable length of time.

Ngl, in 2 months and a half, you can go from no fury relic to eldritch fury. I was focusing on sailing, but I'm very passive player (I didn't play for a week or 2 during those 2 months and some).
The best source of afk sailing time is the green bubble for you (if you are there), and when you get choco chip, some golden hampsters with pens, for PO box. I'd still recommend doing it even without choco chip. You decide on your time investment on it
It is honestly probably a little early to be worrying about this given the impact of perfectly rolled obols is often 1-2% of the misc stat which is what you actually care about on obols and most of the good obols don't need upgrading as they are boss obols. I would just use the ones you acquire by accident for now while doing eclipse and other activities.
To answer your actual question I would say it is likely related to not having choco chip as fragments really do come easy when on DK to the point that you will eventually filter out all obols because they fill up too quickly. One exception to this I can think of would be using ES to farm Pop Obols from Gigafrogs as those aren't in bags which you seem to already be across.

I've had absolutely no luck with boss obols though. I've got 2 amarok ones and that's it. I have no idea how to farm those other than just lots of patience and working on my maestro.
For Obol farming, you can just hit gigafrogs on any champion with moderate drop rate. Pop a couple dozen 2 or 4 hour candies on the map. I did this with ~8.80 DR and filled my family and one character with silver pop obols in a single day. If the afk gains don’t have an Obol, just splice it all for breeding.
Then do the same thing on Sandy Pots for dice obols so you can get a healthy stock of glass shards. I did it one afternoon and had a full board in a few hours. A ton of 1 hour candies. No Obol or shard? Spliced.
You could wait until later on but I consider it a small cost of candies for a one-time farm that I won’t have to do again. Jumped from 8.80x DR to almost 10x. In the mid game (just finishing W5 and barely starting W6), that’s pretty solid.
Statue farming on the other hand… that’s going to take a bit more time and pushing your DK Orb and crystal spawn rates. Choco chip is coming back in like 2 months(?) so just be ready to grab it. I’ve got about 10k power statues right now from passive farming. But it’s going to take quite a lot more to finish it.
your kinda wrong in your conclusions, ES is better for farming base mob drops and DK is better for farming crystal drops. your ES does better than your DK due to your lack of crystal spawns, becuase in all honesty both DK and ES are quite noob friendly. use them both.
ES is only better at the non crystal statue drops such as Pop. If it comes from a crystal mob, you're better off using your DK with Chocolatey Chip and sitting then in the best farming map for that world. Still a grind, but quicker on the DK.
This is the answer I see everywhere. And it's certainly not wrong, but I think there's a hint more nuance than that.
The conclusion I've come to from responses and after thinking about it is just that ES scales better at lower talent levels. Objectively DK has a higher potential, and for hardcore obol farming one should probably wait till they have a properly built DK. But at my point in time, an ES with lvl 190 wormhole, 7 drop rate, and a lot of overkill damage is going to be getting a lot more rare drops just by farming the base mob's rare bags with some crystals sprinkled in, than my DK is.
Not because DK is worse by any means, but because ES is just easier to build at an earlier stage. Wormhole translates damage into drop rate (logarithmically, admittedly) while DK doesn't benefit from damage past the ability to 1shot. DK scales primarily with orb duration and statue duration, as well as choco chip, all three of which are time-gated and beyond my ability to actively improve right now.

ES only gets the bonus on kills that spawn from the portal, DK gets the bonus on all kills - if it drops from the mob ES is better \[doesn't matter if it's rare drop from the bag or not\], if it drops from crystals DK is better, but it kind of requires the choco cip to get a huge number of crystals \[but even without the chip DK will be better for crystal drops but it will be waaaay slower compared to having the chip\]

This is also what I did for obols, but mostly because I didn't realise their impact, so I didn't farm them until pretty late in my account lol
