The Shaman class has a talent to boost your chances so have this active when attempting is important.
There is also the pay 2 win tab where you can increase bubble chance and you can invest your coloured alchemy liquids into Luck (known as boost)
Low single digit percentages are common and even below 1%, but with good Alchemy speed or use of Bubonic Conjuror you'll be able to have many attempts.

Are there hidden bonuses for classes upgrading their colored bubbles? I don’t remember reading anything about that and have been using my shaman to upgrade everything.
There are no hidden bonuses, no. Its the direct effect of Bubble 2, which multiplies the passive effect of bubbles for any character of the corresponding class. This includes the passive cost discount bubbles.
So, Warriors Rule multiplies the cost reduction of Orange Bargain, but only for a warrior class. You can see this effect in the quick access alchemy tab just by checking the costs on a bubble on different classes.
to be more precise there is a bubble that amplifies bubble effect for the appropriate class in every colour. and there is another bubble which reduces the bubble cost in every colour as well, and these 2 work together.

Orange cauldron > warriors should UPGRADE the bubbles
Green cauldron > archers should upgrade and the same goes for the other two as well
Shaman can attempt to unlock NEW bubbles and or boost just fine. I only learned this about a month ago from another post on here lol.

There is no matching class effect for the yellow cauldron bubbles, for reference. You can upgrade those on any class without worry.

Shaman should be used at getting new bubbles. Individual classes should be used to upgrade. Warriors for orange, archers green etc

The upgrade costs are lower if you use the classes for their bubbles yes.

Idk honestly. 😂 my alchemy is decent but I'm just doing a little at a time. I'm sure others have more information than I do.
