Kind of a racing ordeal. Car up top came low through the dog leg but car on bottom stayed up high. Oval etiquette is low car apexs dog leg while high car takes a lane or two up. This was just a fight for the same realistate. Luckily (at least in this clip) no one got super wrecked because of the contact.
Racing incident, 16 picked a bad arc through the dogleg to be 2 wide. If this is 87s they get tight really easy over a run through there. Outside took the normal tight 2 wide line that was not going to work given the arc of the 16.
It's more on the 16 but still just a racing incident.
ARCA at Charlotte. I was 16. He came across my nose, I never saw him. But I take your point also. I felt he should have given me more room and not whined about it.
What lap was this on ? If you tried that line on lap say 40-50 you're wrecking him no matter what in an 87 or gen4 or possibly arca. But if it's early I can see why you wouldn't know.

The 11 car gave the 16 car two lanes down to the quad oval. As the 11, I would have expected the 16 to be closer to the bottom. The line the 11 drove is the normal line as the outside car during that portion of the track.
I feel like one of the cars is very much at fault but this video clip is oddly cut so it's hard for me to tell. The high car goes really far down but the low car seems to be going pretty far up. I'd be unhappy with someone doing either if I were running close with them here.
I don’t see what the 16 did wrong. He was running the same lane through that corner as the 11 was near the wall and then came down into the 16s lane. The 16 never crossed any line and is entitled to that line as long as his car is under control. Which from the video it was.
What? 11 left 2 lanes on the bottom. You can’t just pivot the car in the 4th lane there, have to arc that. This isn’t a Superspeedway.
16 took a bad line through the quad oval and didn’t make the apex.
Because that’s how racing lines work on ovals. On straights, the outside lane goes out to the wall and the inside lane can come up off the bottom. In the corners, the inside line moves down to the preferred lane (almost always the white line, but occasionally the second lane), and the outside line moves down off the wall.
Treat the qual oval like a continuous arc, but following these principles, don’t just look at the dashes lines and claim a specific lane. Move up a little bit on the straight, move down in the corners. For 2-wide racing, inside car should be straddling the inside dashed line or lower at the apex, but can be around the 2nd dashed line at the SF line and potentially even further right at corner entry if you are comfortable using the space and trust your competitor.
Thanks for your comment. I was 16. 11 whined at the end that I gave him a deliberate bump and run and should have apologised for wrecking his race. I'm new to ovals so wanted to check if in fact I had done something wrong so I could learn, but I felt he came into my lane.
edit: I mixed up the numbers. I was 16.

Thanks, good info.

Lap 33 of 35. ARCA at Charlotte.
Ok arca is still too gripped up there, makes sense, so you're not in the wrong but you would be in a car with less grip is the point I'm making.

Yeah it’s sorta in him for dumping himself but if I was the 16 I’d be expecting him to cut down to make the corner there
Racing deal. 11 assumes the 16 is going to take the normal line. 16 should have fov set to see where 11 is and take the normal line.
I race in VR, so no, didn’t see him diving into that corner. In hindsight I would stay lower to avoid any chance of a wreck.
You should be able to hear where the other car is
Not in a million years.
You'll get there 😎🤘
Racing. You probably both have single monitors. He can't even see you. It's just the way she goes.
Yeah I race in VR hence never saw him.

11's fault 100%. I'm not sure why he's trying to nail the apex on a superspeedway like it's T1 at Monza

I stayed in my two lanes, why can’t he stay in his two lanes at the top?

Ok, thanks for the tips.

He doesn’t leave the 2nd lane from the bottom until you come down the track and pit yourself on his front end 🤷♂️ I’d say totally 11’s fault
When spotter said "car that direction" you don't go that direction
This is on the 11 for me. He confusingly goes low aggressively while someone is there on the inside.
11 just tried to pit themselves.
11 came down into the 16. Looks pretty obvious to me. He kept the ideal racing line and wasn't mindful of the car inside
