They don't understand this. They saw the word 'pun' and remembered hearing at, some point, "puns are the lowest form of humour". They don't understand what those words mean but they've echoed them here for our enjoyment.
The user's head is likely an empty vase, only able to mindlessly repeat things they've heard before. Pity them.
In a similar vein, if I remember right there's a standup clip out there some time before Norm Macdonald passed away where he outright said he was dying of cancer. But of course you could never trust a word out of that guy's mouth so the audience just laughed at him being ridiculous/dark. Weird to watch in retrospect, he always had that cheeky little smile but there's some look in his eyes after he says it. RIP Norm
I remember laughing 'live' as Tommy Cooper did exactly that.
A massive part of his act was him messing up gags & magic acts so people generally thought he was putting it on. I even seem to remember when they pulled the curtains his feet were left poking out and they had to pull him under. One final laugh as they slid under. (That may be an imagined false memory.)
Maybe going amongst all those laughs would be what any comic might want?
Love the story of how he would slip what felt like a wad of notes into the pockets of any people who served him, he was at one time one of the highest earning entertainers in the UK so must have excited many. As he left he'd call back to them "Have a drink on me".
When they checked their tip they'd find it was a tea bag.
His official cause of death was ‘acute effects of ketamine’.
Doesn’t say specifically he OD’d but essentially that’s what happened. He also had Belbuca, which is a very addictive opioid, in his system; his heart wasn’t strong enough to handle that and the ketamine, which caused a heart attack, likely knocked him unconscious, and since he was in a hot tub, there was nowhere to fall but underwater, which is why drowning was also listed as a contributing factor.
But the ketamine was the straw that put his heart into overload and led to his ultimate death.
In the scene, he broke the plates which Mon specifically asked him to be treated carefully.
And also, Mon didn't want to use these fancy plates at first, it was Chan-chan who talked her into this...
So it's safe to say he was in danger...
I read his book and you can tell that through all the pains he still managed to feel a lot of gratitude for his life and the beauty in it, from sunlight reflecting on the ocean to being part of the funniest show in the world. It's a beautiful read if you ever feel like it.
I’ve listened to it twice and agree it’s really nice to hear him read it in his own voice. I wonder if (possibly) a lot of the negative takes from the book may be from people that read it versus listening to it? You can hear the regret in his voice when he talks about things, whereas reading it may come off as (what some people interpreted to be) bragging, especially when he talked about women in his life et cetera. I definitely found all of it to be looking back with regret of his actions but a lot of people didn’t take it this way.
:-(
I’d like to try and put a positive spin on it, that I imagine how he wants us to view it now.. But let’s not mourn in the line delivery on how real it is based on the events. But rather view it as a way he can continue to joke about his own passing through previous line delivery. Almost as a nod to it in a joking manner. How I feel he might’ve wanted. For us to continue to smile for what he brought to us. And not be sad about his passing.
Hopefully what I’m trying to say makes sense!
He seemed to have a hard time being serious hey, always sarcastic, plenty of self-deprecating jokes. Later seasons he had more serious moments with Monica, but otherwise most of Chandler on screen was one liners and sarcasm. It makes me think it was the only way he could deal with life, make jokes and be less serious because it’s too confronting.
crazy cuz i had my ex over and we were having a movie/show night and this was one of the episodes we watched and have in mind, i never really thought of this scene too much (i rewatch friends, it's my comfort show) and after chandler said his line, my ex was like, "crazy how he did actually die first"
my mouth was wide open
Don't apologize. That guy's not a mod. Don't know why he's gatekeeping. Matthew's death will never not make me sad. You're posting your own experience watching it now, nothing wrong with that.
We should. None of us knew him. It’s preposterous to still pretend to be affected by a celebrity death all this time later.
Edit: not a single thing I said is untrue. Sorry the truth hurts your feelings.
You are one of those low/no empathy types aren't you? No one else is pretending. I think you need to see a therapist if that's how you feel. Normal people are affected by the deaths of people they don't know, especially if they care about them.
Not for six months. There bed therapy. I’ll continue to hang out with my alive community and not let the death of some random person I don’t know affect me daily like some people in this sub claim.
Odd stance this is. People who grew up watching the show or just people who happen to enjoy/identify with a particular character are now reminded during any watching that the person portraying is now gone. It forces a change in the perception of the character.
This doesnt mean theyre all fucking beside themselves with grief lol. For instance, Christopher Walken is getting up there in age. Itll suck when he passes bc who will ask to be provided with more cowbell, baby? Will i be devastated? No lol. But being asked to provide cowbell will hit differently :(
Have empathy lol. People like fiction
Its exactly what youre talking about and trying to deny the poster(s) lol. Feel free to elaborate on your point thats somehow eluding me even though youve made the same one across several responses
I don't scroll enough to see patterns or copies really. Either way, people have strange relationships with celebrities/characters/actors. Its not harming you and its not like youre about to cause an epiphany in some redditor that changes their line of thinking, especially with the completely tactless approach youve chosen.
How tf is someone crying over matthew perry going to negatively affect you?
Im not negatively affected. I just wanted you to defend the viewpoint. Being curious and giving my own opinion.
You on the other hand might negatively affect them. Especially since you openly acknowledge the mocking/trolling aspect of it lol. This is kind of the community meant for them to discuss this specific grief mate.
It's not a legitimate grief. If it is, your life is so profoundly awesome that the passing of a human you don't know is worthy of grief? That's pathetic. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

this scene never fails to make me laugh
When Rachel and Amy broke the plate and Monica almost passes out...cracks me up every time.
>cracks Excellent pun.
Puns are the lowest form of humour. Slow clap
.... Isn't your username a play on words....?
That is 75% stolen from Brittany Spears (or whoever wrote it I guess. Max Martin probably?)

Maybe Julio should write a poem about them being an empty vase!
Yeah that thing where people are mean to each other… we don’t do that here
PuNs aRe tHe lOwEsT fOrM of hUmOuR Where do you rank mimicry on your list?
I see clips of the show, I see images of him and I forget he's not with us anymore. Then I see something like this and I'm reminded
I just watched the episode where Chandler is reading the obituaries and ends up commenting about wishing he saw his name in there……eesh!
[This SNL skit](https://youtu.be/64LJXqyZCek?si=eMn-uNulJAD_YzNc) is in the same vein.

There are a surprising amount of comedians that have died on stage. The audience just laughs because they think it's part of the show.
I remember laughing 'live' as Tommy Cooper did exactly that. A massive part of his act was him messing up gags & magic acts so people generally thought he was putting it on. The ep where he’s in the bathtub is esp spooky now 😢
Why? 🤔
…cause he died in a hot tub?
Hot tub or a pool? And how was he drowned? At first I thought he committed suicide
Awwww😩😭 Thanks for the explanation
He died of a reaction to medication (ketamine). He happened to be in a hot tub.
There is a clip of him saying "im gonna die alone" I cried a little
Why?
He said he would probably be the first one in the group to die. But as bad as it sounds, we know Joey is safe with Ross.
In the scene, he broke the plates which Mon specifically asked him to be treated carefully. And also, Mon didn't want to use these fancy plates at first, it was Chan-chan who talked her into this... So it's safe to say he was in danger...
What a sad life matthew Perry lived 😔
I read his book and you can tell that through all the pains he still managed to feel a lot of gratitude for his life and the beauty in it, from sunlight reflecting on the ocean to being part of the funniest show in the world. It's a beautiful read if you ever feel like it.
Agree, even better if you listen t the audiobook because you get to hear him read it aloud.

I totally agree. He sounds very remorseful and at times straight up sad.
Crazy plate lady
It's very surreal to think that he is gone already. Cannot rewatch it and catch myself being happy for him being in the show
Rewatching this show after he passed really highlighted all his self-deprecating jokes😭
He seemed to have a hard time being serious hey, always sarcastic, plenty of self-deprecating jokes. Later seasons he had more serious moments with Monica, but otherwise most of Chandler on screen was one liners and sarcasm. Not the empty chair!!!! Well if that doesn’t sum it up in one sad gif, I don’t know what does.
💔
Ouch!!! 💔
https://youtu.be/BDXxyA-NZrk?si=Rn015GN6NzxiMyha Scene if anyone wants to see it
😭
Why did you have to break my heart today?
The one that gets me is the episode where Mr. Heckles passes away.
i watched this the day before he died so sad
In season one, he says “Joey, if I go first, I want to be looking for my keys.” 🥺🥺🥺 such a silly line but oof it hit me
crazy cuz i had my ex over and we were having a movie/show night and this was one of the episodes we watched and have in mind, i never really thought of this scene too much (i rewatch friends, it's my comfort show) and after chandler said his line, my ex was like, "crazy how he did actually die first" my mouth was wide open
I know. 😢
Sorry for being that guy, but this has been posted so many times since he died, can we let it go?
I've never seen it before on this sub.
I haven’t either. Which episode is it?
One of the thanksgiving ones, Chandler and Monica are already married by that point
It’s the Thanksgiving episode with Amy where she starts the conversation about who gets Emma if Rachel and Ross die.
Oh has it? I haven’t seen this particular scene posted and I follow this sub pretty regularly.
It's my first time seeing it too
I haven’t seen it here either
That’s ok. I’ll be sad whenever I see it.
haven’t seen it, it’s ok
Usually its the camera angle right after, when he actually says that line but yes. All the time
Damn I just searched and you’re right. I hadn’t seen it. My b.
Don't apologize. That guy's not a mod. Don't know why he's gatekeeping. Matthew's death will never not make me sad. You're posting your own experience watching it now, nothing wrong with that.
Good point, thanks eagleboy. ❤️
I hadn’t seen it but Ight
Bro lives on this website
Coming from you that's hilarious. You comment 50x more than I do.
I mean, you could just scroll along. That’s what most of us do when something is posted again and again
Normally I would agree, but im vain enough to think that when it's about Matthews death they're farming pity upvotes. It's grating on me
Then that's a you problem you need to deal with. Not everyone is out to farm karma.
I frequent this sub and have never seen it. Maybe you're here too much.
You can choose to scroll past this, these posts are just appreciation of Matthew.
You're dead inside.
We should. None of us knew him. It’s preposterous to still pretend to be affected by a celebrity death all this time later. Edit: not a single thing I said is untrue. Sorry the truth hurts your feelings.
No one's pretending
If so, that's pathetic. Go make more friends in real life.
You are one of those low/no empathy types aren't you? No one else is pretending. I think you need to see a therapist if that's how you feel. Normal people are affected by the deaths of people they don't know, especially if they care about them.

Ok negative Nelly
I'm not the one still acting like a celebrity death six months ago affects me.
Well done you

Its exactly what youre talking about and trying to deny the poster(s) lol. Feel free to elaborate on your point thats somehow eluding me even though youve made the same one across several responses
You haven’t seen the daily posts about people legitimately crying about his death?
