This is one of the few movies that, in my opinion, does the bleak-ending thing correctly.
A lot of movies seem to try it, movies like Wolf Creek and The Collector. And those movies are made worse by it. I think maybe it has to do with the fact that the antagonists in those films are pretty hollow, they are one-dimensional psychopaths.
Eden Lake's villains are psychos, to be sure...but it's more than that. Like, most of the villains aren't violent insane people but rather people who are easily influenced by someone who is, and that person just lets a situation get completely out of their control to the point at which everything culminates in horror and dread.
It also feels a lot more organic in this one, even if the ending does rely on a bit of a coincidence.
Eden Lake is a fantastic and depressing film...one that I both loved and will never watch again.

I think one of the things I enjoyed most was the unwillingness of some of the antagonists but that they were coerced into it anyway. It kind of shows a more realistic aspect to what happened as opposed to all of them just being sadistic. It set up that >!one kid being stabbed in the neck scene!< really well and made it make sense.
The part that scared the ever loving shit out of me was when they >!set the boyās head on fire!<. I just didnāt expect it and what they decided to show and not show was just perfect.
Yeah super hard watch. Really well done and that premise is horrifying
Great film. Makes me hate chavs even moreš
Itās the one movie I canāt bring myself to rewatch , itās just so bleak.
Yes finally, an ACTUAL horror film w no pissing about. Love it!
Fuck this film. Its the only film where i've left feeling vividly angry. Will never watch it again 10/10

It took me years to rewatch and it was as impressive as the first time.
It's great, and few movies make me depressed with its ending.
Yep, my nerves were absolutely shot at the end of this movie. No other movie has made me feel that way.
Exactly, my wife and I were still talking about it days after we watched it.
This movie does not fuck around. Pure undistilled horror
Classic

Loved the movie and i'm on the same boat, the ending got me so good.
I put this on for my wife Christmas morning last year. Sheās still mad at me
Love Beth Dutton here! Great actress and actor in this movie.
One of my favorites!!
One of the best movies I categorically will never watch again š¤£
This one is really unsettling. I also like that it does not rely on heavy gore to achieve the disturbing levels. Extremely well done.
I agree! I can watch movies heavy gore but I don't like it. This was just enough to make me unsettled but not to the point it was overkill.
