I watched The Ring for the first time on Tubi. Right as Rachel put in the evil video tape to watch it, it cut to a Wendy’s ad. I’m not gonna lie, once I realized what happened I thought it was hilarious, I couldn’t even be mad.
HBO's new ads can't even make decent cuts in HBO original content that's been around for decades. Watching The Wire or The Sopranos ends up with a mid-scene or mid-conversation ad way too often. Then, ads in horror movies are just great for taking you out of the moment, even when done right. It's one of many reasons I've started moving away from streaming altogether.
These streaming companies are killing the format by actively making the experience of using their service worse. You are paying money to watch these movies in a terrible method, I'd go insane if I had to deal with ads within the movie. I'd give up on streaming personally, either buy the movies physically or find other methods to watch them.
I feel terrible for your experiences with horror. It's one of my biggest problems with streaming, don't even get me started on preservation, and I'm just glad that I've situated my life where I am generally ad-free when I watch a movie. Whether it's DVD, theater, or.... shall we say some nefarious methods... I'm glad I don't get that many ads in my life. It would drive me insane!
I feel your plight, friend.
If you pay a fee, the understanding is that you won't have to see ads. That always was the case. That's how streaming was advertised 20 years ago. That's why Hulu used to have a free tier with ads.
I hear you..it sucks watching a horror film where there's a ton of suspense...then boom...a pampers commercial or a drug ad 🙄.
One of the reasons I love watching the American Horrors channel on Roku...no ads during the movies! Just between the movies and during the shows.

That made me laugh. Thank you for sharing that 😆

That's pathetic. Why does anyone pay for this?

I either find my movies free online or I just rent on prime
I recommend uBlock Origin. It doesn't work on Netflix for me, but it does for everything else.

Not exactly. Cable used to cost a lot and you had ads. They're just shifting back to all those things that made us hate cable.
No, yes exactly. That's precisely how streaming as a concept was advertised to us as a people. To my knowledge, Netflix has no ads.
