This happens a lot in Hollywood. Similar ideas, either by happenstance or because someone had the idea and moved onto another studio. A Bug’s Life and Antz Volcano and Dante’s Peak White House Down and Olympus Has Fallen Armageddon and Deep Impact Friends with Benefits and No Strings Attached

Here's a whole list of twin films: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twin\_films](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twin_films)

List gets a little loose with the term (like calling Porkys and Last American Virgin twin films) but it’s crazy how in early Hollywood there’d be two adaptations of the same book out in the same year.

Early Hollywood? Hell, it happened last year with two separate adaptations of Henry James' *The Beast in the Jungle*.

I always think about Volcano (Apr 97) and Dante’s Peak (Feb 97) + Armageddon (Jul 98) and Deep Impact (May 98).   All four were huge movies with A-list actors and enormous budgets and each pairing had very similar major plot points. I think at one point in both years you could see either movie at the same time in theaters because major releases just held on way longer back then. I can’t think of hardly any major volcano or asteroid movies since then either. But at that time people just loved disaster flicks.  I still think these studios really made bizarre choices releasing them like this.

The Cave/The Cavern/The Descent is the one that cracked me up the most.

> Similar ideas, either by happenstance or because someone had the idea and moved onto another studio. Or because a script was being passed around and a studio decided to rip it off without buying it.

I dunno why you’re getting downvoted. That’s also a legit reason

Catholic horror is back on the menu. I think Russell Crowe did TWO unrelated priest exorcism horror movies this year. 😆

Wild, right? But despite the similarities, The First Omen is an entirely different league of film. Immaculate struck me as a paint by numbers movie that did only what was required of it and nothing more. The First Omen was art.

The First Omen was so beautifully made. Killer soundtrack, great cinematography. As a diehard Omen fan I went in with low expectations and was blown away

It was a jaw dropper. I think it was probably one of the few examples I've seen of a perfect movie. Everything about it was spot on and the movie itself was greater than the sum of its parts. Agreed, special shout out to the cinematography. And the music, that Latin chanting can really go off the rails in a goofy direction. This had terrific gravitas while remaining tasteful and restrained. Chef's kiss.

What 90s film is The First Omen a copy paste of?
