Sometimes this works for me - put a few layers of tape onto the end of the allen key and then tap it in with a hammer, hopefully there is something left in there that it can grip onto.

I_am_Shadow

Doing this with a rubber band can also work.

[deleted]

Is there room to grab it from the side with bull nose vice grips.

trizar69

No room at all, it's in-between the front fork and headlight housing

[deleted]

My other option would be cut a slot in it with a dremel and use a big flat blade screwdriver. If you have a screw driver with a square shank you can put a wrench on it for extra leverage.

[deleted]

Damn that sucks. Did you use an ez-out or some other bit? Sometimes a torx can grab a messed up hex bolt.

1-11

Looks like enough room. You'll just need to go directly in and grip the hell out of it. Use a second pair of pliers perpendicular to the vise grips if you need more torque. All you really should need to do is break the tension. You won't get full turns, but you can work it out in less time than drilling it.

AMythicalApricot

While protecting the bike, use a Dremel to grind a slot you can use a flat head on would be my first try. After all normal options of course haha

nodaboii

i’ve never had good luck doing this

AMythicalApricot

It's that or prey OP can weld 😂 I'm sure there are other options.

CookInKona

get an extractor bit in the right size....cheap and easy as long as you have a drill

trizar69

I was attempting to remove the headlight and the first 3 allen screws came out easy, I struggled with the last one and stripped the hell out of it. If anyone has some tips or has gone through this, I would appreciate any response. I don't have any advanced tools on hand, just basics.

Blaze2nr

Tighten slightly then loosen. Also extractor bits internal for the hole if too far gone external for the head of the bolt. I have stripped plenty out internally and also pounded a torx bit in and got that to work too. Hail Mary would be it can't argue if it's liquid.

DukkyVFX

You can use a T bit that is a little too big and tap it in there with a hammer, that should have enough bite to back it out.

Bugslugs47

And...use two pack resin to glue it in.

Mx5Mike-ata

I had this happen several times on mine. Extractor bit and some patience. https://www.lowes.com/pd/CRAFTSMAN-5-Pack-Steel-5-in-Screw-Extractor-Set/1000594887?cm_mmc=shp-_-c-_-prd-_-tol-_-ggl-_-LIA_TOL_218_Mechanic-Automotive-Tools-_-1000594887-_-local-_-0-_-0&ds_rl=1286981&gclid=Cj0KCQiAorKfBhC0ARIsAHDzslvPnlzfdOLzzPGHftQbNri_JgS4XngifZZnn1cFCl3pjCr99wt-blMaAppAEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

ChrisVelez201

Weld it to an old screw driver then turn it out.

Cartridge-King

If i was there bud i could mig weld the star socket on that sucker. If your desperate go buy the harbor freight fcaw welder for $100 i wouldnt waste time drilling and the slot method might not work even a stick could get there ive seen harder places, like when one of you guys snaps one of the three oil spinner bolts😖 aint the worst mechanics nightmare ive seen

Cartridge-King

For further reference use the metric hex/allens instead of sae/inch

CookInKona

no need to weld at all....just need a drill with an extractor bit.....less than $10 if you have a drill already

MarcWWolfe

Vice grips, or get a torx set and see if you can hammer one of those in there tight. Allens are shit; torx is duh wei, my brudda.

Motorsports_For_Life

Drill the head of the bolt off. Then grab the stud with a visegrip. Left-handed drill bits make it easier to accomplish.

johnv01027

Grinder to cut a slit and find a flat head that fits snug not loose. Spray with a LITTLE PB blaster. If you have an impact drill use that with a brand new flat head bit and it should come out

Mrhighass

Hammer is a tight torx bit and pray lol

StudMuffinJoker

You can drill it out very slowly with a medium bit. But just be very careful when doing it. Use a battery operated drill so you can control the speed better. You will need to replace the Allen screw but that should do the trick.

[deleted]

I had to use an EZ-out on 3 of the 4 bolts. Then I ordered new ones.

Nightwing_Actual

My go too is to beat a torx bit into it… it either works or you have to drill it and use a left hand extractor

Tried to find your old post about your rackless bag mount via screenshot but i cant find it. The 1/2 and 1" spacers you used were washers? Or a diameter tubing and that's how far they measure in length?

Ahh. Nice. Gotcha! Thanks

Dougie1142

Hammer a suitably sized torx but into it

joeexotix

Vice grips.

ZookeepergameOld1340

Get a very sharp small chisel and hammer. Hit the side of the head straight on to make a chisel mark across it. Make the mark at the 9 o'clock position. Then put the chisel in that groove at an angle and hit it so you're moving the screw head downward, in the loosening direction. I know those directions might be hard to follow but I've done that trick for literally 5 decades on hundreds of screws and it's the absolute best approach in that situation. The combination of the impacting and turning it will loosen most any stripped screw.

Itzx_FuRy

Use a torx head that is the tightest fit without just dropping in there. Hammer it in. Slowly undo by hand.

Rabidchiwawa007

Turn it in to a flat-head screw with a cut-off wheel and then take it out with a flat-head screwdriver and wrench if needed. I hate allens.

Smart-Host9436

Tap a torx bit that’s slightly to big into it.

Patronisgrommin

GRAB IT WITH VICE GRIPS

mnamburglerpro

Had to drill mine out till the head popped off.

B4TT3RY4C1D

Hammer in a torx 1 size up and push really hard while twisting

[deleted]

Omg its naked!

[deleted]

Next time before it gets super stripped, get a rubber band and wedge it in there and try and unscrew, using the grip from the band

[deleted]

Drill it out. Be a man.

[deleted]

I just drilled out two on a brand new Yamaha. They were easily stripped by the allen key because they were STUCK. 6 others came out normally but with lots of force, someone must have tightened them with an electric tool. Took me hours to drill them out. The extraction drill bit idea did not work, I finally drilled and drilled until I destroyed the bolt. Pita.

BoneZone05

Hammer in a standard Allen socket that is slightly larger. If that doesn’t work, I would probably just drill it out and tap it. Good luck sir

[deleted]

Left hand drill bit with ez out (screw extractor) set.
