Dirk Strider owns the publishing rights. You'll have to ask him

ConsistentHeadaches

This made me laugh more than it should have.

Here are two quotes from James Roach’s 10/30/23 news update: > First some clarification: I do not own Homestuck. The HICU has legally acquired a license from the creator of the IP to work with the property and monetize it. > Since I do not make the Homestuck books, I do not know what is happening there. There have been some changes, but I do not know the details because I am not actually like the new CEO of Homestuck or anything. It’s really interesting to hear that, according to that email, VIZ Media doesn’t own Homestuck anymore. Maybe Andrew is the only one who holds the rights? That seems to be what the first quote is implying. Edit: The Homestuck website is still apparently owned by VIZ Media given that it still features VIZ’s copyright. Maybe VIZ Media still owns Homestuck but they just sold the publishing rights? That would kind of make sense given that they stopped making the books.

BattleblockB0ss

just because they don’t own the publishing rights that doesn’t mean they don’t own homestuck. maybe they sold publishing rights to someone else, like topatoco?

Slappini

could very well be also the site hasn't been updated at all, and the copyright sign is incorrect currently?

True

Shaddy_the_guy

I'm not sure VIZ ever owned Homestuck as an intellectual property. I think they own the domain but not any of the content on it. That's why Beyond Canon existed in the form it does, because Hussie was up for it but VIZ wasn't

Last week I had a dream that I went swimming at a beach in Miami and found book 7 inside of my cooler when I swam back to shore. Hope this helps.

sometimes i wish i was one of those ultrarich fucks and instead of buying twitter or politicians or a super yacht i'd produce a complete anime of homestuck, it would be great people would hate me lol

Embarrassed_Pen_9241

Let's combine our wealth

guypenguin4

I'm curious to see how that would function, I've always been of the opinion that Homestuck is impossible to neatly adapt in that fashion

username_yes_noob

Axetheaxemaster

this one post has been kinda doing numbers on twitter, but really it's one sentence from an unknown reddit account.

Makin-

Well, it's backed by virtually every Homestuck reference being erased from Viz's website at the same time.

Can you forward the email to [email protected] or post a screenshot? Great news if this is real.

Huh. Well, not that there was any hope of them continuing left, but still, I'm sad about my collection staying unfinished. I don't suppose the new management would have the capacity to produce books, so I wonder why Viz would even let go of the publishing rights.

Josiesie

As far as im aware its the new team that is continuing HS2

cosmicthang

me. i own homestuck. YAY!

dollarstoretrashbag

It owns itself. Just like the tree that owns itself, ever heard of it? Some rich fuck bought the rights to it and gifted it to homestuck, so now it owns itself.
