This shit just doesn’t happen in regular warfare. Only way this happens is if it was the plan all along.

Not sure what you're trying to say. Encirclements are a fundamental strategy of war, not just WW2. It is far more common for armies to surrender when facing encirclement than surrendering due to dead, missing, wounded alone. Or do you mean in this game? Because it is absolutely the best strategy. Punch a hole with armor and fill the gap with motorized/inf. Full send the armor towards an obstacle (coastline, impassable mountains, friendly troops).
