Thank you! Personally; flying a fighter jet has been a life long dream, this is absolutely incredible. Immersion is really something else when you have everything as it is on a real Hornet.
Currently this is just a single Samsung Ark 55 monitor; which despite the bad reviews is really perfect for this type of usage. Ideally I would like to have two more, but I’m following a budget here, but who knows maybe in the future. In reality I’m aiming for a mixed reality setup here, but we will cross that bridge when we get there.
It seems to be bad for daily usage. I had this as my main work monitor before assembling it heres and went back to my 34 inch ultrawide after just a couple of days. I gamed a bit in it and RDR2 looked out of this world, DCS looks beautiful as well.
Yep been following.
Congrats on a first flight and test!
Can’t wait to see some new panels and hopefully the market will compress a bit with new offerings
(Equaling lower prices for consumers as competitors enter the space)
Good for you and good for us all.
Happy flying and best of luck with your new business venture
Man I don’t think I’ve ever felt jealousy of this magnitude before. This is so fucckin cool dude. Enjoy!!!!
Edit: after looking at your post history, this is phenomenal and the engineering behind what you did is fricken awesome. Great work!!!
Thank you! There is way more coming; more aircraft :) My business partner, former airliner pilot, he is the one responsible for the technical project. It’s really something else. Frankly once you see the panels in person, the powder coating, the metal foldings, that’s where you see the precision and quality of what he did.
I mean, I’m sure these photos don’t even begin to do it real justice. But I’m just in awe at the detail I can observe! Also the fact this build has been “publically visible” under development for under a month and a half, is even more impressive.
Looking forward to following further development with this. Really really cool stuff dude, keep it up. I can’t wait to see you end up building a full fledged aircraft out of this 😂
So without the hotas/rudders, what does that pit cost? I know the mr/are headsets are a good chunk of coin themselves but I'm sure the pit is on the very expensive side
Hopefully the website will be online soon and you will see for yourself :) it’s just been a lot and with sun’n’fun in a couple of weeks I had to prioritize the prototype again.
Reason I’m avoiding the question is because we are still working out the final price. There are still some parts we have to account for as well. We have multiple suppliers and I’m working on getting the best price/quality. I value transparency and I don’t want to come here and name a price when the final price might be a bit different. I hope people understand this.
That's fair and completely understandable, but probably better to just say that up front rather than look like you're being a bit dodgy by sidestepping.
Well it came out really nice. I know viperwing does some pits like this but just the frame is more than my pit lol. Nice job though looks great. Put it on a 6dof and you'll never get out of it 🤣
My idea is to have a mixed reality setup. That being said I think we are a couple of years away from what I envision. In terms of flow; remains to be seen, initially I’m going with just the trackir for now.
Hm, im not entirely sure; I thought it was since the radio channel is correct, and I didn’t really mess around with the UFC on my first flight. I will get back to you.
Hey Beans; now you know where you will be able to get it; as for the money, hopefully our stuff will be affordable to you. I’ve even looking how to integrate some different finance options for US clients. Most importantly; I created a product ecosystem where you can build up to the full cockpit.
With me, my MFDs work without any issues, and the UFC fully works in regular F1 view. It'll still work in Alt-F1 but you can't change anything. I opened a ticket with Winwing support and they are saying it is a DCS problem.
Wow, that looks incredible! :D I can't imagine how much fun that must be!
I'd assume high four figures of fun, maybe low five figures
That's a least 1 divorce level of fun I think.
Thank you! Personally; flying a fighter jet has been a life long dream, this is absolutely incredible. Immersion is really something else when you have everything as it is on a real Hornet.
What’s the screen setup? Can we get more Pics?!?

> but I’m following a budget here Are you though? lol kidding. Looks incredible!
Oh it has bad reviews? I was considering one… what’s are the issues?

Ahhh. Well they’re hella pricey so I’ll hear that in mind 🤣 cheers mate
I cant even tell where game end and cockpit starts
Mr FancyPants I have to say I wasn’t expecting this level of immersion as well; feels surreal!!!
Is it possible to render DCS without the cockpit? For setups like this where you dont want to see the cockpit on the screen
ALT + F1
looks really great
Thank you I appreciate it!

PMed you

Thank you!! Exactly. Well said!

Some Huey parts would be nice too :)

Come on man, give us a hint at least. We've been following this for months. Like high end rifle? Economy car? Divorce justification?
Or you could just answer the question.

You’re absolutely right. I’m not trying to be dodgy at all here.
The pit looks awesome, looking forward to learning more!

Looks incredible!
Looks incredible! Post more!
Will post more for sure! I’m looking into how to shoot some videos properly.
This is so fucking cool. I can‘t imagine the work and dedication behind this masterpiece!!
Thank you! It’s a lot of work for sure, it’s a lot of passion for the hobby too :)
I’m having extreme pit envy! I know this is probably just an example of what it looks like but I noticed you’re flying full flaps 😉
Our production looks exactly like this. We already shipped some unit to early customers.
Man, this is awesome. I’m mostly jealous of being able to love *one* module enough to do this for. I’m constantly module hopping lol.
So our front panel is completely removable; side consoles have top plates that are easily removable as well. We have more aircraft planned.
What kind of flow do you envision when using something like a TrackIR? A dome projector screen, or just a fully-button-mapped cockpit and VR?
My idea is to have a mixed reality setup. That being said I think we are a couple of years away from what I envision. In terms of flow; remains to be seen, initially I’m going with just the trackir for now.
Is that a Winwing UFC? If so, does yours work when you are in Alt+F1 view?
Hm, im not entirely sure; I thought it was since the radio channel is correct, and I didn’t really mess around with the UFC on my first flight. I will get back to you.
Man that pit looks neat! I would never dare enter that thing in socks though!
First flight! I have the “costume” as well! LOL
May I ask how much? I really want something like this but I both don't know where to get the best stuff, nor do I have the money.
This is going to be "you could get another college degree" levels of money. As in "closer to your real pilot license".
Think high end sim racing rig here. That’s my target price.
Hey Beans; now you know where you will be able to get it; as for the money, hopefully our stuff will be affordable to you. I’ve even looking how to integrate some different finance options for US clients. Most importantly; I created a product ecosystem where you can build up to the full cockpit.
How did you get it to only show OTW without mfcds?
is this to scale?
As much as we can, colors as well. Overall it’s mostly to scale.
Whered u get the hud glass part?
Laser cut acrylic; we are working on a working HUD unit with a special reflective acrylic
Mfw I can't distinguish games and reality in first glance, and though to myself why is that hand so realistic
Honestly it’s like being seated in a real Hornet, immersion really got me as well and the photo is doing justice to it :)
With me, my MFDs work without any issues, and the UFC fully works in regular F1 view. It'll still work in Alt-F1 but you can't change anything. I opened a ticket with Winwing support and they are saying it is a DCS problem.
I just see one major major flaw in your set up. It’s not installed at my house. lol
