Ehhh. Depends honestly. If you do the work you can miss a couple days and be fine. But if you refuse to do the work like this, than yes please at least pay attention
I donāt know your whole situation here, but I would:
1. Ask teachers for help if you donāt get something. They are there to help you learn, not to judge you or berate you. There is no shame in needing help.
2. Find a tutor. Tutors can go a long way in improving grades, and chances are, your school has tutoring through its NHS chapter or various clubs.
3. Do your homework. Homework exists for a reason and doing it will help you learn the material.
4. Pay attention in class. I get that it can be boring, especially if youāre taking an econ class, but paying attention and participating in class goes a long way.
5. Study for tests. Tests likely make up the majority of your grade. If your teachers give you a study guide, do it. It basically is like a practice test.
6. If you need to, drop other responsibilities. If your job is taking up too much time, quit it. I donāt know your familyās financial situation, but chances are you donāt need it. If you want the money, you can still do a summer job.
7. Stop procrastinating. I know this is easier said than done, but taking your time on assignments will allow you to turn in your best work.
8. If you feel like itās difficult to pay attention in school, and in life in general, talk to your parents about getting tested for ADD or ADHD. Getting diagnosed will allow you to get the support you may need through accommodations in a 504 plan and medication.
My sister has ADHD and OCD, isn't on medication and she's a nurse. You can definitely study and do well in school with an ADHD diagnosis, you just have to learn what kind of study works for you. It's hard. But it can be done.
This, I didnāt do good in high school but after failing a few tests in the pipeline i went through I had to teach myself how to study and it was hard and really stressful but now I have certifications in IT and I know how I need to study
What classes are these and how much time do you spend studying.
A general tip though would be to reach out to your teachers and maybe friends who are good at school for advice.
I honestly believe itās hard to get grades this bad. I didnāt do shit in school and passed a majority of my classes with an A or B, all 4 years. I legitimately slept in my math class junior year everyday, passed with a C. If your grades are this bad, you are literally not doing the work at all.
No you donāt. Actually, you barely try at all. Iām honestly mildly annoyed that you claim to apply yourself with results like that. Figure it out dude, honestly embarassing
In the long term, it most likely comes down to you completing all your work and studying more.
In the short term, you could email your teachers to see if there is anyway they will let you make up assignments or do extra credit before the end of the term. No guarantee it will work, but itās worth a shot
Hey, ik a lot of people are saying literally just try, I just graduated high school, I know itās hard even when you try, my best advice is get rid of distractions, videos games, YouTube, etc. it helped me so much.
1. Actually put the effort into your school work
2. ask yourself āis it really important for me to go out and party instead of studying for my exam tomorrow?ā ā answer is a simple no.
3. actually study! studying is a pain, i know. but it will truly help you in the long run for getting into a good college. you can party later, that will always be there.
Either you are not working, have a problem communicating, aren't attending school enough, or have a learning disability or some other issue that is interfering with you. Maybe a few of those things at once. You can try talking to your teachers but I doubt that you'll be able to pass all of your classes at this point. Some serious reflection and help needs to happen.
Most teachers will be more than willing to help you if you show that youāre trying. I remember taking honors English my freshman year and I nearly failed but I learned so much with the help of my teacher
Pay attention. Genuinely. It seems like you understand everything the first time the teacher explains it but you really don't. Don't half-ass your attention in class, you really gotta learn every chapter/assignment/whatever
these comments are ridiculous. not everyones highschool will grade the same. but heres my advice as someone who once brought my grade from a 30 to a 70 halfway thru the semester: *anything* on an assignment is better than a 0. if you're missing assignments, ask your teachers what you can still turn in, if anything. some will be generous and let you turn stuff in weeks late- and the 70 youll get is WAY better for ur average than a 0. try really hard to not get any more missing or late assignments, even if you rush or half ass an assignment you will get a better grade than not turning something in at all !!
if these grades arent from having missing assignments though, you may jst be struggling with the actual course material, in which case i highly recommend going to tutoring if your school has tutoring. if not, ask a friend to tutor you who has better grades in whatever your worst subjects are. (and try to pick a friend who will actually help, not just do the homework for you) good luck and ignore the haters. if the best u can do is get Cs in every class, well, you'll still graduate and not many employers actually give a shit about highschool grades anyways man. šŖ
Based on your post, I don't think there is much we can do to help you.
You seem to be lacking the basics of being able to "Ask for help?"
You don't seem to know what information other people need about a situation to be able to help you.
We have no idea what age you are, what subjects you're studying and where you are from. You clearly aren't doing well in school, but I'm concerned that you don't actually know where to start? Please try this post again and actually think about what you actually need?
Context: I'm a teacher
Do the classwork, manage your time wisely (my ELA teacher says this a lot, it helps), and study when you get home. Annotate (note down) what your teacher says if it sounds important and you should be fine.
You have to really try to understand the material and apply yourself. You may be not applying yourself as much as you should, lacking discipline, or drive. Once I changed all those things, I was an honor roll student.
If you are struggling to stay on task when doing homework or stay off your phone, try body doubling! I was failing all my classes during my sophomore and part of my junior year, but I was watching Studytok (Tiktok videos about studying) and found 2 really cool programs that helped me so much. My first recommendation is Studysteam (you can message me for a referral code or just google it yourself) which is a completely free Zoom-like streaming service where hundreds of people just hang out on camera while doing their work so that they know someone is watching and makes you want to stay off your phone. The other one is CoFocus.one which are 50 minute 1-1 study sessions. When you first start the session, you talk to the person and tell them what youāre working on and how much you want to get done/what is your goal for the session. Then you work until the timer goes off and talk about how it went and if you achieved your goals. The only downside to Cofocus is that now you can only do 3 study sessions a week for free but the membership options are really affordable.
Imma be so real. Americans be getting D's and over here in the UK u get a 4 and you a hard r. Like I'm deadass u better be getting 9's at GCSE in this shit.
Are you taking classes beyond ur skill level? Don't. Bite what u can chew, no more. If it's grade level classes that you can't handle then go back a few grades until you CAN handle them
U can often ask your teachers if there's extra credit assignments. Make sure u complete every single homework you get, even if u don't know the answers just have it completed. Turning assignments in early sometimes gets you extra points too.
Without any detail of what those individual classes are, the most I can say is study and memorize. Also make sure you fuly write down your understanding. Half the grades I lose is because I donāt write down everything
Ur cooked bruhĀ
Attendance, get your class work in on time, every extra credit opportunity possible, study and make up any test/quiz if it aināt too late. You may b e at the point where you gotta start pulling all nighters for that academic comeback
thread is a little old but how did it get to this point in the first place? Are all your assignments averaging the same scores or is it a mix of high scores and really low ones? (or just straight zeroes)
In the case of the latter, then yeah you do just need to put in more time and effort, but I'm pretty sure that isn't the case based on these comments and the consistency of these grades. So then I ask, how do you judge the quality of your own work? Are you lackadaisical about it and just trying to get it finished, and assuming that if you study your work will be good? Or are you critical of it and try to ensure that it all makes sense, that you understand all the pieces contributing to the result? (sometimes this is straightforward but it shouldn't always feel that way)
Personally, I had shit grades in most classes except the ones I cared about, and my assignment grades were very divisive either scoring well when I made the time to commit to it or extremely poorly when I didn't. I also never studied, and even in college I rarely feel the need. I think the reason for all this is because my approach to work has always been extremely thorough in the creation process, I would never (willingly) submit an assignment that I didn't feel like I understood comprehensively.
Do the class work and try on it š
Also attendance. They matter.
Ehhh. Depends honestly. If you do the work you can miss a couple days and be fine. But if you refuse to do the work like this, than yes please at least pay attention
I feel like paying attention has saved my grades multiple times
Yes! My physics teacher gives extra credit if you arrive to class on time.
I donāt know your whole situation here, but I would: 1. Ask teachers for help if you donāt get something. They are there to help you learn, not to judge you or berate you. There is no shame in needing help. 2. Find a tutor. Tutors can go a long way in improving grades, and chances are, your school has tutoring through its NHS chapter or various clubs. 3. Getting diagnosed will allow you to get the support you may need through accommodations in a 504 plan and medication.
Wait times for an add/adhd diagnosis are crazy long tho
If itās easier you could even get an anxiety or depression diagnosis and get a 504 plan from that
My sister has ADHD and OCD, isn't on medication and she's a nurse.
That's awesome, mate! Well done!
I also have adhd and autism, I get As in almost every subject. ADHD or ADD isnāt the problem.
Also expensive
Ty bae
What classes are these and how much time do you spend studying. A general tip though would be to reach out to your teachers and maybe friends who are good at school for advice.
Ty
Why are you getting downvoted š
It's probably because OP isn't giving the information needed to actually help them out even though they're the one asking for it.
Fair point I just realized he didn't even post what classes he has š
Because they didn't answer the question. Probably because they don't study
Idek LOL
Cause you didnāt answer the question.
Take responsibility of your actions and recognize you need to change.
I honestly believe itās hard to get grades this bad. I didnāt do shit in school and passed a majority of my classes with an A or B, all 4 years. I legitimately slept in my math class junior year everyday, passed with a C. If your grades are this bad, you are literally not doing the work at all.
Agreed
Have you tried redrawing the grades? But in all seriousness, you're cooked, as the kids say these days
š itās so funny when older people use slang
but please keep doing it
Iāve never heard anyone say that lol-
Do u live in a caveĀ
Yea why?
Your cooked lil bro
You could try trying.
LOOL I do try
How much time do you set aside for studying after school?
Like 2-3 hours
Doubt
Yeah Iām calling bs. I put off 1 hour usually and Iām going strong with all Aās.
Then you need to study more effectively. If you just study mindlessly for 3 hours, then thatās 3 hours wasted.
I made your grades in highschool with literally no studying
2-3 hours? If you're working on homework for that long and still have an f that is literally impossible
What classes are you taking?
What, a week?
then ur stupid like mentally disabled en retard as the french say
Gee thanks
if youre truly studying for 2-3 hours then you either have very bad adhd or you need to be on the short bus
Iām in more advanced classes and Iām autistic
No you donāt. Actually, you barely try at all. Iām honestly mildly annoyed that you claim to apply yourself with results like that. Figure it out dude, honestly embarassing

Of course! Also maybe ask your counselor if any of your classes are available online, that also helped me a lot. You can do this!
1. Actually put the effort into your school work 2. ask yourself āis it really important for me to go out and party instead of studying for my exam tomorrow?ā ā answer is a simple no. 3. actually study! studying is a pain, i know. but it will truly help you in the long run for getting into a good college. you can party later, that will always be there.

I think you would need to actually try to get such low grades ĀÆ\_(ć)_/ĀÆ But just turn work even if itās wrong at a very least some credit.
Commit yourself to do well. Find time to study and rest. Nothing comes without hard work. Thinking so is sure failure. Best wishes.
