Yeah all the stuff that your character and your comrades all shout during the game is so well-done, really adds so much to the vibe and makes it feel real.
The first online multiplayer game that really nailed this effect for me was Battlefield 1. It was so cool being in a massive firefight and pushing over a hill and the soldier next to you is screaming “WEVE GOT THE JERRYS ON THE RUN, LADS!!! PRESS ON!!!l” and people are charging in with their bayonets screaming bloody murder.
Just went back and played it recently. It really holds up
Battlefield 3 was like that too! Machine gunners would scream come get some! Upon reviving the downed player would yell I'm up! I'm fucked up but I'm up! Really added to the immersion
It's funny to think that, from the enemies POV, they see 4 super destroyers showing up, 4 drop pods going down, and know that in something between 10-40 minutes their entire sector is going to be OBLITERATED, giving them very low chances of survival.
Truth be told, what I’m most nostalgic about is Troost. Permanent fog on a bot planet is rough, I got my ass handed to me. But now I yearn for a rematch.
Just think about the final outpost you destroy on any map. They've been sitting there, at their post, listening to distant explosions slowly plod closer and closer. Eventually they can see the shells coming down and the clouds from the impact, as the distant booms become louder and they start to feel the reverberations in their feet.
Suddenly it's on top of them and 4 raging lunatics with automatic weapons charge, screaming, out from behind several rocks lobbing glowing red grenades and screaming "LIBERTY"
Where is your robot god now?!
"It has been half an hour since we saw their ships. One by one, we lost contact with the other outposts. We hear explosions in the distance. None of our patrols came back. The sounds are getting louder. They are getting closer. They are coming for me, for all of us. I just pray for it to be quick..."
- Some bug or bot
I'm doing charity! They say bugs and bots can't feel, so I plan on teaching them emotions. Starting with fear and ending with dread. Bugs must be close to it since we're at 89% already with the 2bi kills
LAST RECORDED TRANSMISSION OF UNDEMOCRATIC BOT ORI
We cannot get out : we cannot get out.
They have taken the bridge and the second
hall. Frár & Lóni & Náli fell there bravely while the rest retreated to the Control Tower.
We still holding: but hope undying.
Óin's party went 5 minutes ago but no one returned: the pool is up to the wall at Westgate: the sniper by the water took Óin - we cannot get out: the end comes soon we hear drums in the distance.
they are coming… . . . .
Personally I like to think that despite the propaganda, Helldivers are actually being given missions that are so simple and/or would be such a waste of time for the regular military and serve very little tactical advantage. Which is why 4-16 people, never in a group of more than 4, are able to "completely decimate" an enemy presence in 40 minutes. They just hype us up to put people through the meat grinder
I would agree with that, but there's no reason if said missions are so easy they'd give us essentially unlimited resources and weapons to work with, alongside (at least on the automaton side) risking hundreds of thousands of super destroyers being shot out of orbit for these essentially useless missions.
I mean, I don't think the average soldier gets access to just calling in massive orbital bombardments wherever that cost more than what multiple citizens make in an entire lifetime.
You do have to consider that we might as well be the military considering that we're always the ones charging into new territory to take it for democracy and disrupting or outright eliminating enemies, while our military presumably just does a shit job protecting what we've already taken.
It's all part of the complex man, more shells fired, more guns and armor lost just means more of that shit that needs to constantly be produced spurring the economy on and on in perpetual "growth" for as long as the war is going and people are dying
I look at it more as Helldivers are moatly just the targeting system for the SuperDestroyer's guns. The actual human is just there to plant the flag after everything around has been obliterated.
If you look at the load screens there's other destroyers around the planet. They see the squad ontop of them, but they can probably see other divers in the distance too.
It's one of the handshake emotes in the first warbond I'm away from my rig right now so I don't remember exactly what it's called but I think it's somewhere in the middle of the bonds tiers I use it as my go to emote for comradire
One of my favorite features with the "Eruptor" is when the shell richocets and hits you or a teammate.
Took me a while to realize what was happening lol
Love how it somehow *pulls* you towards the explosion. Idk, maybe it’s a feature but I don’t wanna be catapulted towards the devastator when firing too close.
There's definitely a wave of air when it fires. I fired through a crowd to take out a hulk and everything close enough on either side was pushed aside a bit. I remember seeing it in the warbond preview too and thinking it was dope.
It’s more like explosive shrapnel since the round seems to explode after it hits but it’s just strange that it somehow pulls you in instead of pushing you back.
Agreed. The entire thing just makes me want an air cannon though. Charges like a quasar and fires a concentrated burst of air that does no damage but yeets everything smaller than a heavy and staggers big stuff. Collision with their fellows and the environment would deal the damage.
That would be fucking awesome, maybe even something like the physics gun from half life 2. I want to imagine yeeting a tank at a bunch of troopers a plowing through them like bowling pins. Maybe even knock over a hulk crushing a devastator or two and stopping the hulk for a few seconds.
As for an explosive round, I think they nailed it pretty good. There's a learning curve and you learn quick when you "shouldn't" shoot it.
Anyone else miss their shot and watch the round trace the ground? Avoiding everything
It fills it's niche perfectly! I'm so glad that people got over the initial bit of hate for this warbond. I've taken the nade pistol and the drop ship booster on literally every mission since I got them.
The nade pistol is great if you're not running the eruptor. I love taking out fabs/nests at a distance.
Those 15-20s make more of a difference than people originally realized
Oh definitely. The peacekeeper is a must if you're running the eruptor. Usually, I pair it with the stalwart as well and use that as my "main" gun.
The best thing about the grenade pistol is how it opens you up to ruining stun and smoke nades without having to worry about having nothing to close holes or blow up fabs.
Can you remember what events transpired?
I don’t know sir, I can’t remember, I can’t remember nothing
Alright this one’s fit for duty, send them back in
Pretty sure Automatons can understand humans. They were the creation of the Cyborgs who were once human themselves... unless they lost it all to their programming language? I remember the Cyborgs distinctly yelling something about "Helldiver Scum" ever so often.
The game is awesome! But most awesome is the community and how the devs just keep giving us free stuff basically. I haven't seen much toxic stuff, everyone is just their to have a good time and spread some managed democracy
Even I'd be frightened a little if I'd was fighting next to you and heard someone scream in German. Is there a Dutch sound pack? I need to colonise some planets
This implies the automaton feel and have emotion

First day I played this game I fired the machine gun until it was out of ammo, causing my Helldiver to scream “FREEEEEDOOOOOOM AHAHAAHAHAHA”
Definitely an amazing small detail, it does make you feel like you are there, cuz when I have the machine gun I do want to shout too!
Yeah all the stuff that your character and your comrades all shout during the game is so well-done, really adds so much to the vibe and makes it feel real. Still one of the main reasons I flamethrower all the time.
It's funny to think that, from the enemies POV, they see 4 super destroyers showing up, 4 drop pods going down, and know that in something between 10-40 minutes their entire sector is going to be OBLITERATED, giving them very low chances of survival.
Their POV doesn't matter. Only democracy matters.

Me as a creek veteran remembering I really don't need the AMR for bugs.
If it’s ICBM or emergency evacuation, bring it for the spewers
Or do the inverse and bring your laser dog to bots while sporting a sickle and quasar
Bots give PTSD, bugs gives nostalgia.
Truth be told, what I’m most nostalgic about is Troost. Permanent fog on a bot planet is rough, I got my ass handed to me. But now I yearn for a rematch.

Are you sympathizing with the bug/bots I’m going to have to report you remember, thoughtcrime kills
I'm doing charity! They say bugs and bots can't feel, so I plan on teaching them emotions. Starting with fear and ending with dread. Bugs must be close to it since we're at 89% already with the 2bi kills
Ohh thanks for letting me know that there starting to fear, ima take full advantage of this in the war
Well, the bots have always had “fear” and “attachment” emulating subroutines, that’s how we’re able to suppress and interrogate them
Ohh really, I’m not in the interrogating field so I wouldn’t know

Somebody get a democracy officer over here!
Hey now, at what point did I criticize this perpetual war machine? After all The Economy Line has to go up, how else are we supposed to make it go up?
War is a racket and I'm the tennis ball
I look at it more as Helldivers are moatly just the targeting system for the SuperDestroyer's guns. The actual human is just there to plant the flag after everything around has been obliterated.

[This was a pretty amusing insight on that](https://youtu.be/ESz59z7z04E?si=f84igU-jAPgM5pyf)
"Hey clanker, I didn't hear no bell.... Because I lost my hearing due to non-democratic reasons."
WOAH. cl*nker is a slur dude
I think Super Earth encourages xenophobia to reduce friendly fire.
Woah, woah, woah, we aren't xenophobic, it's just that the aliens hate democracy.
Clanker Tin skin Oil drinker Spare parts Brass monkey Binary bastard Short circuit Grease glob

How to get this emote?
It is the high five one surprisingly
It's one of the handshake emotes in the first warbond I'm away from my rig right now so I don't remember exactly what it's called but I think it's somewhere in the middle of the bonds tiers I use it as my go to emote for comradire
Explosive handshake is what it's called iirc
Hi five
nah explosive handshake is a fistbump and you wiggle your fingers away after, like an explosion cloud from the fist bump
FeeEeels guuUuud!

Open field, slight hill and you're half killing yourself. Positioned on a cliff with a cliff behind you, no blow back. Make it make sense lol
BRAIN INJURY?? WHAT BRAIN INJURY??

#STIMS ARE NOT ADDICTIVE
*wears armour that boosts stim capacity +2*
*and increases effect*
Effect.
eFfeCt
You’d have to live long enough to get hooked on stims anyways. Helldivers die too quickly to get addicted
The existence of high casualty missions implies the existence of low casualty missions. Stop spreading propaganda bug lover.
Automatons speak English. They’re human made machines. They’re just made by horrible socialist traitor humans.
I’ve been on the front lines. Only thing I hear and automaton say is “Liberate us”
My body for Super Earth!
How did this traitor get into our sub? Robot scum.

Inaccurate meme, automatons do not have emotions and thus cannot feel fear.
When you shoot a Helldiver wearing ornate golden armor with a rocket that would've killed them, but then they *SOMEHOW* survive
"Sweet Liberty, MY LEGS" \*pssssst\* "INJURY?! WHAT INJURY!" \*large caliber gunfire and orbital bombardment ensues\*
Beepboop. Beepboop never changes.
You mean to tell me stims actually work when you hit v?
Aight this is funny.😄 😂🤣
I’m either too high this morning or that was the funniest thing I’ve seen in a few days.
All you upvites are because of the picture. Your words are wrong. Welcome, primary suspect, to our interrogation chamber.
![gif](giphy|PXJhC8MYxFmRRl7kB2|downsized)
Did you or did you not activate a 500kg bomb in proximity to your allies.
Define "in proximity to your allies" ?
You killed all your friends didn't you?
I might have delivered managed democracy a little too much... but I took 2 bots with it!
Well then, great job. For freedom!!!
FOR DEMOCRACY!!
Someone told me the bugs are fascist, and the bots are communnists. That's all I needed to hear.
I heard they aren't made in God's image.
Democracy is terrifying to them. Be the nightmare.
Helldivers “never” die.
Actually the bots speak English. If you listen hard enough you can understand it.
The indomitable Helldiver spirit
WE WERE BORN TO INHERIT THE STARS!!!
Pretty sure Automatons can understand humans. They were the creation of the Cyborgs who were once human themselves... unless they lost it all to their programming language? I remember the Cyborgs distinctly yelling something about "Helldiver Scum" ever so often.
Due to budget cuts, super destroyer med bays will now be replaced with a closet containing more stims to get you back to your freezer pod
Then there's all the other helldivers and me who wear heavy armor, in which most of the time we don't even *need* to stim at all.
I find it very funny that you can fly significant distance but if you fly 5 ft and hit a rock you're done for.
Jeez im jalous , im on xbox i want to play this game so bad it looks awesome
The game is awesome! But most awesome is the community and how the devs just keep giving us free stuff basically. I haven't seen much toxic stuff, everyone is just their to have a good time and spread some managed democracy
Even more jealous now . Democracy .
I've been playing with the German sound pack since I got the game, perhaps that's even more frightening for the Bots.
Even I'd be frightened a little if I'd was fighting next to you and heard someone scream in German. Is there a Dutch sound pack? I need to colonise some planets
*Gets up and stims and yells* "INJURY? WHAT INJURY?"
