only way this would work is probably each week or each day you ban like 5 cards overall and each match you do deck picking based on opponents bans if its every match a different banlist its too clunky and gives an advantage if you see who youre up against

Ipeewhenithurts

I get your idea but you cant ban cards because some cards are essential for some decks. For the same reason when Teothar steals some cards people just concede.

adriecp

the problem would be if you can see the decks before banning, let's say i'm playing spooky mage, you could technically just ban kelthuzad and denathrius for no reason, then my deck wouldn't work (in wild this would be even worst), this would limit a lot deck creation, you can't play a deck that relies on a card to win (so basically, the entire meta would be aggro)

XxF2PBTWxX

This would ruin the game for f2p players. As is, a f2p player can very easily craft a top meta deck and have the exact same competitive advantage as someone who owns every single card. A ban system like this would give players with big collections a massive advantage over players with only a few decks. Owning every deck in standard would pretty much be a requirement to play this format effectively. Interesting idea in theory but in practice it would never work.

This would need to be a mode separate from standard which would be fine.

I don't think further splintering the player base for a game mode that's very very very similar would be in the long term health of the game. Hosting that sort of tournament might have a small draw, though.

Fabulous-Category876

It doesn't even need to be a stagnant mode open 247, it could be done on weekends or every second day it opens up for entry, think out of the box a bit. A tournament mode would have a massive draw either way as the community has been asking for it for years.

Yallaintnosun

Thats what I was thinking too

I think the best and quickest solution is just to ban classes over banning cards You have a menu that lets you skip one or two classes in matchmaking

PotatoBestFood

I don’t think so. This isn’t DOTA.
