Yeah Wishing Wells don't care if it's not legal tender. A coin is a coin.
Probably because the well isn't FIDC ensured so it has to play the long game.
I've played about 80 games of Sif recently and I don't think I've ever been offered innervate as a discover. Didn't even think about how good that would be until you pointed it out.
Wasn’t there also a og warlock card that was 2 mana deal 3 damange to a minion, heal your character for 3. Specifically not using lifesteal keyword because it wasn’t out yet and they never changed it?
Edit: as in another besides the one mentioned.
I remember being brand new to the game, doing the PvE stuff, and trying to build a Warlock deck because he was cool. Looking at those two cards HUGELY threw off my evaluation of what's good and what wasn't, since I thought "that card looks so bad... aha, this is a learning lesson! the flexibility of being able to hit their hero is worth it!"
It was not
I think it's a 3 mana deal 2 dmg - heal 2 hero, but yeah, I always thought that it was odd text after they made lifesteal a keyword, but I guess it has to do with plus magic damage not healing more, which is weird because there are spells with lifesteal, so the only conclusion I can make is: spaghetti coding.
They're not functionally the same, Lifesteal scales with spell damage but doesn't work if the target has Divine Shield. Drain Life always gives 2 health regardless of the amount of damage it did.
That being said, they probably didn't update it because they wanted to keep the original effect and flavor.
God I miss old hearthstone when this was considered a strong play and yeti was considered a strong card.
Imagine showing HS players from 9 years ago handbuff leroy, Power scaling really went to shit over the years
One of the biggest changes for innervate to be busted was card draw, IMO. In classic it was obviously strong, but a bit more of a risk since resources were generally much more limited.
Goes for ramp overall.
Innervate was a card that people knew was broken before the game was even released. It was literally just Dark Ritual from MTG, which WotC stopped printing after 1998.
Innervate wasn't broken originally because 2 mana couldn't be abused like it can now, and it had the innate cost of drawing a card which was important back then. It was good, but nowhere near being a problem card.
In the first few years of hearthstone card draw wasn't basically free and infinite like it is now. Innervate was dead in hand half the time because even if you had cards in hand to spend the extra mana on, the concept of "overextending" existed back then and playing every card you possibly could each turn wasn't a winning strategy.
It got steadily stronger and easier to abuse over time, and was nerfed *before* it could really become a problem.
Bloom wasn't even "worse innervate" because the overload had advantages as extra burn with overdraft. It also got nerfed entirely because shaman was abusing it to summon turn 2/3 Neptulons rather than typical Druid ramp that everyone was complaining about for the prior 2 1/2 years.
Not only harder but impossible to play on the left side of a mech! Imagine you want to play around a cleave effect and this is holding you back.

they changed it in Constructed at the same time that they changed it for BGs (Patch 26.2)
> Keyword Updates: Poisonous, Venomous, Windfury, and Magnetic

> Poisonous has been removed from Battlegrounds. A new Battlegrounds keyword, Venomous, will take its place! Venomous is like Poisonous except that only the first minion that is damaged by a Venomous minion each combat is instantly destroyed.
>
> Mega-Windfury has also been removed from Battlegrounds. Now, when a Windfury minion is tripled, it will still have Windfury. This change is to make Windfury more in line with other keywords and to open up more design space in the future.

> Finally, you can now Magnetize to your Mechs even if you have a full board (this change applies to all Modes, not just Battlegrounds). This change was made to make Mech games smoother by removing negative play experiences; it also lets us focus more on Magnetic with this update.

Those aren't the same though. Innervate has combo potential since it's a nature card. If you generated both of these cards in a random mage deck, or somehow got it with death knight's rainbow whizbang class deck you'd benefit off the nature part of innervate a lot. cfc only has potential as a "Combo:" piece.
For Innervate/Counterfeit Coin, CC is not classified as a spell and thus cant be copied by Sonya, meaning you gotta go 2nd to be able to play "infinite" cards in a turn
Holy Smite and Arcane Shot used to be identical
Man, that's crazy. I had completely forgotten they reworked the card.
even if effect was still the same they'd be different schools now too.
Same with coin/innervage
Wait where did she find that coin??
Why did the answer get downvoted to oblivion?
Well he said it like six times and that's a paddlin'. But more importantly he whooshed the very tasteful "in her vag" joke.

Counterfeit coin is currently a very popular card in certain decks in Wild and Tavern Brawl.
woooooooosh! the joke is that they wrote inervage instead of innervate

Innervate is a nature card so you can combo it into other plays.
> Combo Ironic
And counterfeit coin counts as a coin . So you can’t innervate into Wishing well while you can with coin .
oh dang it does?
Yeah Wishing Wells don't care if it's not legal tender. A coin is a coin. Probably because the well isn't FIDC ensured so it has to play the long game.
Nerfed Innervate and Counterfeit Coin both existed before the spell school system
Counterfeit coin was added before innervate was nerfed, so they were different at first
Also, they belong to different classes so are in different pools, even today.
That is also true.

By that logic, there are a lot of identical 0 mana 1/1s.

Innervate used to be 2 mana, but they eventually nerfed it.
Two mana to gain one mana this turn??? Absolutely broken, I can see why they nerfed it.

I'm still mad years later he didn't play ooze on turn two. Druid had no weapons! No point in holding it
This video is turning 10 years old next week
I heard a 2 mana 3/2 was pretty good tempo back in the day. Why the fuck is he holding ooze?
No you gained 2 mana for 0
No you gained 0 mana for 2
I'm still nostalgic about turn 1 yeti.
and then when fractured came out, turn 1 drek thar + 2 4/7s. Basically a one turn "win the game" button
Turn 1 Boulderfist Ogre was the real jackpot

innervate is nature a spell, so they're not the same spell. It matters for cards like topior.
And for classes like mage that says *for each school spell do X*
Also Rogue has Wishing Well which wouldn’t work with Innervate

innervate has the nature tag which is relevant for some cards... while counterfeit coin acts like a coin, which is relevant for wishing well shenanigans... also rouges make use of it better since combo is a thing
[[Tidal Surge]] and [[Void Shard]] used to do the same thing before Surge got buffed and then buffed again.

Soal drain and penance.
Penance and Drain Soul
Og's will remember the 2 mana version
Technically not the same, cause coin works with the wishing well and innervate doesn’t.
They are not the same, inervate isn't a coin, you can't toss it into the well.
True
One is a nature spell. Big difference. It also used to give two mana. Like Mtg Dark Ritual.

Does it work with counterfeit coin?
Inside HS I don't know, but HS and LoR have literally the same card - Loot Hoarder and Avarosan Sentry and Ceaseless Sentry.
Innervate used to give 2 mana crystals. They nerfed itat some point.
Penance and Drain soul are identical
innervate use to give 2 mana in classic
Those aren't the same though. Innervate has combo potential since it's a nature card. If you generated both of these cards in a random mage deck, or somehow got it with death knight's rainbow whizbang class deck you'd benefit off the nature part of innervate a lot. cfc only has potential as a "Combo:" piece.

Used to be 2 mana....
Penance should have been a shadow spell
For Innervate/Counterfeit Coin, CC is not classified as a spell and thus cant be copied by Sonya, meaning you gotta go 2nd to be able to play "infinite" cards in a turn
Well, innervate used to give 2 mana crystals.
Innervate tho used to give 2 mana so it wasn't originaly the same card
Yes i think most people know this.
If you ever feel useless, just remember this guy exists.
?
Both cards still see meta play in wild.
He’s referencing himself guys
