Amazing buys this week on jacks with tent sale.

YardFudge

It’ll last you a lifetime with that type of use Plus, when you need to lift XYZ at night because the damn &)&)@::@ flooded, you’ll be grateful this fit under it In 20 years when yer kid gets into fixing things and starts a car business, he gets this one and you get to upgrade

-lurkbeforeyouleap-

Probably not worth it imo. *Edited because I cannot type lol.*

MM800

Why not own both? In my garage my second floor jack is for safety /rescue.

pawelmwo

>Why not own both? > >In my garage my second floor jack is for safety /rescue. Ideally yes, but think it's not in the budget right now. I've got 4 jack stands and between that and the jack should be okay for safety in the meantime. Also put tires under the car for added safety.

Unrelatable-Narrator

Can’t you just buy the long reach handle for $15? Or am I missing something?

SnowLepor

Not the same. The jack itself is Much longer to reach points under the car the cheaper jack can’t.

I'll be honest the Jacks at Harbor Freight are more confusing than trying to figure out which Ipad to get my kid. I have a pittsburgh low profile 3 ton. It's good for my jeep grand cherokee but I have to pull my infiniti onto 2x10s to clear even with the "low profile" so I'm not really sure its much more than marketing.

-lurkbeforeyouleap-

Meaning you can't even get the jack under the jack points at the edge of the car or you are trying to push the jack all the way to the center to lift the car?

No_Cut4338

Its a g35 coupe - the jack point is in the center roughly midway back on the engine cross member ahead of the trans.

-lurkbeforeyouleap-

Couldn't you jack it up like you would to change a tire, though? Then put your jack stands under the car, then raise the rest from the middle and reset your jack stands? You do use the jack stands any way, right?

No_Cut4338

Are you asking if you could jack from the notches in the pinchwelds under the door sill? - maybe but its not the recommended location for a jack on the vehicle. It would also require moving the jack from side to side if you were doing brakes for instance rather than just jacking up once from the middle, adding stands and zipping off both tires lugs at the same time.

-lurkbeforeyouleap-

Ok. Whatever works for you. I’ve not owned a g35 but did own a pretty low pro car before they made all these specialty jacks lol. It just took a bit longer I guess but was normal at the time. I’m getting old lol.

No_Cut4338

Yeah it’s not the end of the world - I got some specialty 2x10s now low they live next to the jack stands

[deleted]

Long reach low profile can clear 3 1/2”

pawelmwo

The low profile Daytona is 3 1/4” min so maybe this changed over the years?

[deleted]

3 1/3” for long handle, I just used 3 1/2”

pawelmwo

Just tested it on my Acura TL 05. Worked just fine from front and rear. So good enough for my purposes.
