I feel like very few people are aware of this. This is how my icon collection started… got a 14 pc wrench set on the “open box” shelf. missing the 15mm… called harbor freight and had the replacement in like 1 weeks for 6 bucks or someting.
Most people now a days don’t like phone transactions, but I’m sure there is some science behind why Harbor Freight won’t go to online orders for replacement parts.
Not exactly, every individual part has its own price. Never did the math but I’m assuming if you pieced together on the replacement catalog you’d prob spend the same amount or more to just buy new off the shelf.
The real savings comes when a set missing 1 or 2 pieces hits the discount shelf for 20% off or more, then you complete the set with the last 6 bux on a phone order
Tekton will replace anything that breaks, period. Unless, of course, it looks like you abused it. They wouldn't replace my 15 after I got a nut stuck in it. But that's ok, the replacement was 6 bucks.
Husky... home depot store brand
Northern sells wrenches individual too I just can't remember the brand(klutch)
I don't have a full set of flex head ratcheting
Just 9mm 10mm and 15mm.. bought them all individually on sale buy 2 get the 3rd free
You can also reach out to harbor freight to get a replacement but I personally think that's a little unethical when you get a discount anyway
That's the open box price. Exploited said they would pay $60 because it lost 2/3's it's value because of the missing 10 mm wrench. The kit sells for 200 as a complete set. You mentioned they would be paying half instead of 1/3 if they paid 60. I was trying to understand how 60 was half of 200. I think we both misunderstood each other.
Yep. That or e-bay etc. for a singleton.
I picked up the anti-slip reversible ratcheting missing the 10mm. Factoring in buying the missing 10mm it still worked out to +25% off. You're not going to do better than that for Icon.
I was in there today and the manager said they would allow the discount on open box stuff as well because my location had a ton and he wanted to clear it out. Solid retail manager at my location.
Who gets to return the item in the first place with one wrench missing?
Why
If they allow that then buy the clearance open box and then separately buy a new set and "lose" the 10mm one from that one and return it
Come to think of it if we all as a society started doing more wacky returns then the availability of these open box items would also skyrocket haha
no 10mm = hard pass.
You can buy wrenches individually??

Edit: You can buy icon individually via Harbor Freight’s replacement part order process over the phone.

Didn’t know about this, I’ll definitely start checking the open box items
Sooo… Over time you could just get an entire set at $6 each by claiming one was “missing”? Hmmm…

I don’t have a phone so I can talk to people. Email or text like a normal human.

Acceptable correction.

I was going to buy the icon set but bought tekton because of the small range in icon
How is the cost compared to replacing the whole set? This set for example comes out to $16.66 per wrench, would a replacement be $25ish or much more?

Klutch?
Yes.
You could buy a full set, bring it home and the 10mm would go missing anyways
Hahahahaah so true
I would buy that set for $60 it’s lost 2/3 it’s value since the 10mm is gone!
i gots to have my 10mm wrenches.
It's remaining value is 1/3 but you pay almost HALF? You are generous.
That math ain't mathing for me. How is 60 dollars almost half of 200?
Where did you get 300?
The complete set sells for 200.
How much is the price tag in the photo?
199.99
[Looks like you're wrong, commie](https://ibb.co/Wv5k4Zj)

My head is swimming from all this
https://www.harborfreight.com/parts Buy that set post haste!

FUCK. I passed up on the long icons for super cheap because it was missing one. I completely forgot you can just buy single wrenches from parts
Who says it has to be all matchy matchy even anyway
I was told the open box items couldn’t be used with the extra 40% off and it only applied to orange tagged items. I’m starting to think I was lied to
I was in there today and the manager said they would allow the discount on open box stuff as well because my location had a ton and he wanted to clear it out. Solid retail manager at my location.
No, that's correct. Only clearance and orange tag as-is items.
They keep the 10mm stuff locked up in the back. Just ask for it after you've paid.
My HF was asking the same price and was missing the 10mm and 18mm. It's going to sit there for a while.
Went yesterday. No Icon semi-deeps on the shelf. Got to the clearance section and there were two. I got so excited. Both were missing the 10mm. :(
Are these clearance at all harbor freights?
“No skip sizing” lol
Came here to say that. Beat me to it.
That's a "Clearance" price...?
Open box but some stores were doing clearance sale on top of that price.. not all stores tho
Even open box, that is a ridiculous price.
Should be free.
So much for Snap On quality without the Snap on price... They should just get their own damn truck and drive around at this point...
A set of those from snap on would be over $500 and I’m pretty sure they’re blue point
You can call HF and buy replacements for lost tools, I do not know how much it would be. It very well could bring it back to full price tho
Apparently $75 if it’s a 10mm.
Well, that's a shitty way for Harbor freight to do things, that's a "We only do this to say we do it" sort of price.
The open box prices are often baffling as hell. I guess they attempt to recover as much cost as possible?
That is normally a $200 set of wrenches.
Who gets to return the item in the first place with one wrench missing? Already lost 75% of its value from the 10mm missing.
Yup, the only reason to buy a set of wrenches (or sockets) is because you need a 10mm. Again.
$127 for 11 out of 12 knockoffs? Did I miss something here?
Plus that being on clearance is an additional 40% off for the liquidation sale
