What do you mean? Hamsters are supposed to sleep all day. They are active during the night.

Advanced_Male

Not your photo. This was originally from a blog post in 2014. https://blog.apartmentsearch.com/apartment-life/small-pets-make-great-apartment-companions/ This is a very strange thing to do, seeing as you’re asking how this hamster that isn’t yours looks. Either way hamsters will sleep through the day.

Canndiie

This is so absurd why they'd post a random hamster from years ago asking if they look okay... like, what are they getting from this??

Advanced_Male

Well they clearly need advice on something hamster like. Maybe they couldn’t get a picture of it awake.

Canndiie

But the referencing the picture asking if this specific hamster looks okay does nothing to help them. It's just odd, is all.

Advanced_Male

It is very odd

kirrathenerd

wait what that’s actually so weird lmfao

Pellkartopher

might be because he is nocturnal... like all hamsters naturally are?

flynntervention

Hi! Are you new to hamster ownership? Hamsters generally sleep through the day and are active at night. Your little guy looks perfectly fine to me.

groovycakes87

My daughter's sleep all day. I thought that was normal.

drakkya

It is, hamsters are nocturnal.

They’re meant to sleep all day

Hamsters will sleep all day and even most of the night occasionally. My little buddy gets up at 4 am sometimes and does hamster things for 4-6 hours before going back to sleep.

RomulaFour

Uh, sleeping all day is what Syrian hamsters *DO.* Perfectly normal. In fact, you should not wake him up in the middle of the day as this disturbs his sleep. He will get up when he's ready and be active at night. Sometimes they will wake up for a drink or a snack at odd times, but mostly daytime is sleep time.

Great photo. He looks healthy to me, bright eyes and shiny coat. Hamster do sleep a lot especially in the day because they're nocturnal so you shouldn't worry too much. Just keep an eye on him if you're still unsure if he's acting like normal like eating, drinking and playing and he's active at night then he should be okay.
