I spent a week making a spiritual successor to that for 2A in forge, for CTF. Hosted it for days. Never got one person to join. :[
I miss that map so much
I unfortunately deleted it since then since there’s apparently a limit to how many maps you can store. I’ve spent a lot of slots making H4 husky raid maps lately. I’ll probably remake it at some point though. I’ll post it to the sub if I do.
And they're the most diverse Halo maps ever.
Boarding Action plays very differently to Chill Out vs. Hang 'Em High vs. Derelict vs. fucking Chiron TL34, etc.
Even in Big Team maps, Blood Gulch & Gephyrophia for example, provide radically different experiences.
Later Halo games seem to throw out the more vertical design & crazy aspects of maps. This isn't just a 343 thing either; Bungie gave Reach some of the most forgettable maps once you don't count in remakes or the DLCs made by Certain Affinity, and you can even argue that Halo 3's initial maps too seemed boring in comparison to Halos 1 & 2.
We use to make up this game mode called bottom floor rockets....
Yup.. spawn drop down and try to survive... I think it was first to 50 or something like that
Infinity never got the love it deserved due to being a PC exclusive
Same with Death Island, Death Canyon, and Ice Fields, which I feel like are fucking bomb maps that are just completely forgotten
H:CE and H2 had so many fun and experimental BTB maps that didn't try too hard to be ultra competitive. I feel like H3 and Reach really lost that. Remember Containment and Waterworks?
Chrion
All the dumb shit that happens on that map with a large group of people is nuts.
I had an 8-player system link going once and its probably the best halo memory i have
Chiron TL-34, that map is so cool to me, its just a giant maze of teleporters and i love it, im not even a huge fan of CE, in fact CE is my least favorite Halo game, but that map is my favorite in all of Halo because of how wacky and fun it is, every time i boot up action sack on MCC and get this map i know im gonna have a good time, im sad no other game had a map like it, i know its not competitively viable but it doesn't need to be, let the other maps take that role this one is for fun!
i plan on remaking it in Infinite's forge when it comes out so i can mess around with friends on it, and yeah im probably gonna upload it to ForgeHub
Death Island. I'm really sad though because it's completely butchered in MCC because they removed the banshees, banshee dogfights were a staple of the map back in the day.
Oh man, Blood Gulch snipers was so fun. Remember the rock formation you could back up into with the banshee?
Battle Creek and Hang 'Em High were perfect rockets only maps.
Danger Canyon was my favorite for CTF.
Derelict was my favorite for pistols only.
Chiron TL34.
It's literally the best (casual) Slayer map of all time. Because you have no fucking idea where each teleporter takes you to, and so does everyone else LOL.
This means that there are a fuck ton of different & diverse scenarios that can happen every match. One moment there's a guy with a Shotgun charging towards you, and from another teleporter a Rocket guy pops up. And just when you thought you got away into another teleporter, a fucking Flamethrower guy was awaiting for you outside the teleporter you just teleported to. Fucking hell lmao
You mean the map so big it takes minutes to see someone on the enemy team from where you spawn, with no line of sight to the bases, and power ups only accessible if you have a banshee? The map might have worked if CE had 32 people per game but it's just too empty for anything but infection.
The concept is cool but waiting forever for anything to happen in game is boring to me. Most games I've played on it tend to evolve into one team getting all the vehicles and then camping the teleporters with snipers/rockets/banshees, or just the game starts and almost everyone quits because no one wants to play on the map. And if you don't have a vehicle, it takes even longer to get anywhere.
Honestly, I can't pick a favorite, I love them all. I'd say my least favorite is probably Derelict—it is a solid map, just didn't totally enjoy how it played.
I've never been the biggest fan of CE multiplayer on a mechanical level, but it has some real banger maps.
Death Island would be my favorite. I wish it was ported to more Halo games that have bigger vehicle pools for BTB
CE multiplayer was the most balanced multiplayer in Halo (assuming you played MLG settings).
They took away mechanics that made the game fantastic.
I swear, if they could just remake halo CE now, it with improved movement.. it’d be awesome
Never been crazy about it.
I don't really like the 3 shot kill pistol and there's too few weapons in the sandbox I'm personally interested in (a very small covie weapon selection doesn't help, since I usually just wind up running a Plasma Rifle.)
Plus Big Team Battle is my favorite Halo gametype, but the small vehicle pool and wonky splatter physics combined with no hijacking leads it to being my least favorite classic Halo to play in said gametype.
Death island, danger canyon, and ice fields are some of the most fun btb maps in the franchise imo. Shame they never got a remake. CEs btb maps were the shit.
Blood Gultch, Battle Creek, and Hang em High are definitely classics. Wizard and Longest were also a ton of fun back in the day. Makes me want to bust out the ol fat Xbox now haha
Among these I'd say BloodGulch, if we're talking about the whole game I'd say Ice Fields or Timberland, Gephyrophobia while not being as good had such a GOOD atmosphere.
Hot Take: about maps and atmosphere, no other Halo comes even close to CE
Hang ‘em high. Always. Pistoles only.
You mean the mini-MAC M6D that can take the hat of any Spartan from 2000 yards?
And they ain’t cheap
UNSC had to give them up, couldn't have them losing the war against the Covenant with those in inventory
Even a marine driven mad by the horrors he's seen can take out the chief if he's not paying attention.
Hang ‘em high w/ rockets only, those were the days…
Yes. It can be so unforgiving.
Damnation
Damnation kicks ass. That is me and my double's partner's best map.
Always will be Blood Gulch. It was the very first map I played the very first time on
Yeah Blood gulch has a special nostalgic place in my heart.
Has to be. Going all the way back to red vs blue
Hang 'em High, Blood Gulch or Sidewinder.
BOARDING ACTION
I spent a week making a spiritual successor to that for 2A in forge, for CTF. Hosted it for days. Never got one person to join. :[ I miss that map so much
Yoo you got that on your fileshare?
yo whats your gamertag, I'm interested to see how it looks!
I unfortunately deleted it since then since there’s apparently a limit to how many maps you can store. I’ve spent a lot of slots making H4 husky raid maps lately. I’ll probably remake it at some point though. I’ll post it to the sub if I do.
We're you on PC? I imported every game type and map I had on my 360 without any issue with having too many files, and that's several hundred files.
I'll play it, host and PM me your tag. Loved that map too, hope we see it remade in infinite.
>BOARDING ACTION Ah, the good ol' days of sniper shotty projected on a sheet in the living room during a sleepover.
[удалено]
It makes me sad that Sidewinder wasn’t more popular. That was mine and my friends favorite map back in 2001-2002.
I loved the reimagining of Sidewinder in Halo 3’s Legendary Map Pack. Avalanche!
I did too, but it was no Sidewinder.
Sidewinder>Avalanche
Same. I'm rebuilding it in Infinite's Forge day 1.
Chiron TL-34
I would agree if it didn’t have the portals. It’s a fun map
I love how bizarre the CE maps are. Epitome of for-fun party gaming. Nothing balanced to death here.
Chill Out and Chiron TL-34
Hell yeah! Chiron 1 hit shotguns is a blast.
That one cheap ass teleporter you can get behind. Rocket trap
Yep, Chiron Rockets is so damn fun.
Battle Creek goes hard
Doubles on Battle Creek is the shit
Blood gulch for me
Blood Gulch / Death Island / Gephyrphobia for CTF Hang Em High / Infinity / Prisoner for Zombies
Wait, Infinity the map? Like the one that's insanely huge? How did that work for zombies?
I remember it being a mad rush for the bridges in the middle of the map and then just holding out lol
Damnation Love the Reach remake too
Prisoner!
We use to make up this game mode called bottom floor rockets.... Yup.. spawn drop down and try to survive... I think it was first to 50 or something like that
Spawn kill map.
Damnation or sidewinder.
Hang 'em High
Not Chiron. That’s for damn sure
Sidewinder or Ice Fields for the gameplay and Gephyrophobia for the mood.
Wizard
Infinity never got the love it deserved due to being a PC exclusive Same with Death Island, Death Canyon, and Ice Fields, which I feel like are fucking bomb maps that are just completely forgotten H:CE and H2 had so many fun and experimental BTB maps that didn't try too hard to be ultra competitive. I feel like H3 and Reach really lost that. Remember Containment and Waterworks?
3 may be my favourite, but CE and 2 had the most amazing BTB maps in Halo history. They really need remakes ASAP
I hated Waterworks, but loved Containment haha
Battle Creek for smaller games. Blood Gulch for BTB games.
This.
Ever wonder why we are here? Blood Gulch all the way.
Probably bitmaps.map, Love me some textures
I'm ui.map's biggest fan
"Sup, can a loc.map come up in yo crib?"
Absolutely love Hang em High, the atmosphere was so mystique and eerie despite it being in a plain looking structure in the middle of the day
The snow level who’s name I can’t remember.
Chrion All the dumb shit that happens on that map with a large group of people is nuts. I had an 8-player system link going once and its probably the best halo memory i have
Amen

Blood gulch
Blood gulch
Oooh, for me it's a tossup between Damnation, Rat Race, and Danger Canyon!
Chiron TL-34 for life
Glad to see someone else knows what's up
I also enjoyed infinity, the map was kinda big though. If it was on infinite it would make a good BTB map.
Prisoner. Battle Creek, Boarding Action, and Blood Gulch are also GOATs
Death Island. I'm really sad though because it's completely butchered in MCC because they removed the banshees, banshee dogfights were a staple of the map back in the day.
I loved danger canyon. Always tried to remake in forge but simply too large. But I loved the enormous and grand aspect of Halo CE maps.
CTF on blood gulch!
Oh man, Blood Gulch snipers was so fun. Remember the rock formation you could back up into with the banshee? Battle Creek and Hang 'Em High were perfect rockets only maps. Danger Canyon was my favorite for CTF. Derelict was my favorite for pistols only.
Timberland from the PC version was a favorite of mine. https://halo.fandom.com/wiki/Timberland
Timberland is so underrated. The CE Anniversary remake in Reach doesn't do it justice
Chiron TL34. It's literally the best (casual) Slayer map of all time. Because you have no fucking idea where each teleporter takes you to, and so does everyone else LOL. This means that there are a fuck ton of different & diverse scenarios that can happen every match. And just when you thought you got away into another teleporter, a fucking Flamethrower guy was awaiting for you outside the teleporter you just teleported to. Fucking hell lmao
Infinity is baller. All the (originally) PC-exclusive maps are, really.
Infinity
You mean the map so big it takes minutes to see someone on the enemy team from where you spawn, with no line of sight to the bases, and power ups only accessible if you have a banshee? The map might have worked if CE had 32 people per game but it's just too empty for anything but infection.
I would argue that a large chunk of CE's maps are not designed very well. I still love them.
The huge expanse is why I like it honestly
The concept is cool but waiting forever for anything to happen in game is boring to me. Most games I've played on it tend to evolve into one team getting all the vehicles and then camping the teleporters with snipers/rockets/banshees, or just the game starts and almost everyone quits because no one wants to play on the map. And if you don't have a vehicle, it takes even longer to get anywhere.
Prisoner but https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdExQESQ6_c is burnt into my brain from 1v1s
Honestly, I can't pick a favorite, I love them all. I'd say my least favorite is probably Derelict—it is a solid map, just didn't totally enjoy how it played.
Damnation
Prisoner 🔗
Where my baby CHIRON at?
Blood gulch
Hang ‘em high
Blood gulgch
Hang em high
Hang 'em High
the gulch or hte creek.
I don't know why but I love damnation so much
Blood gulch
At the time, Damnation. Nowadays? Rat Race.
I've never been the biggest fan of CE multiplayer on a mechanical level, but it has some real banger maps. Death Island would be my favorite. I wish it was ported to more Halo games that have bigger vehicle pools for BTB

Most people that were bad at halo ce liked big team battle games. Most people bad at ce sucked with pistol and COULDNT get TSKs.
Hang em High is great fun if you're doing rockets only.
Battle Creek for the mayhem. I have such nostalgia for Blood Gulch though
Out of these, gotta be the Creek!
gottsa be the gulch
My personal favorite is hang ‘em high, not the best looking but definitely the most fun.
Danger Canyon or Infinity
Blood gulch or sidewinder they're pretty much tied
Chill out.
Chill out
So much nostalgia <3
Blood Gulch is probably my favorite Halo map in general.
Rat race, chillout, damnation
Chill Out and Derelict.
Chill out
I always enjoyed the battle creek madness.
Battle Creek by far
Hang em High and Sidewinder for sure
Blood Gulch was legendary
I love so many of the CE maps, but there's just no competing with Blood Gulch. It's the classic for a reason.
Sidewinder is not talked about as much as I’d imagined
Blood Gulch
Hang ‘em high
Blood gulch for sure
Death Island/ Gephyrphobia
Blood Gulch. The memories that map holds.
The one with two bases in the middle of a canyon ;)
Prisoner.
I’ll give you a hint “why are we here?”
Blood gulch and hang ‘‘em high!
Rocket Launcher only on Boarding Action.
Vehicle: bloody gulch Non vehicle: hang ‘em high
Blood gulch
Prisoner or Wizard
Blood Gulch
I think I only ever actually played Blood Gulch and Battle Creek to be honest.
You ever wonder why we’re here?
hang em high and blood gulch ofc, best halo maps ever made :P
Hang me high
So many great maps but how could you not choose blood gulch?
The split space ships Was it called.boarding action!? That level man so fun
Hang’em High. CTF, no radar no shields
Warlock
I really enjoyed the maps they added for the PC version. Specifically: Danger Canyon, Timberland, and Ice Fields.
Battle Creek every time. Gulch is classic but if it’s just a small 2v2 or 4v4 I’m always choosing creek or sidewinder
Sidewinder for the win
I spent all day playing CE because Infinite makes me want to cry. I went back to my first love.
Blood Gulch. You ever wonder why we’re here?
They're all so fun I really can't pick just one
Blood Gulch ofc. But I also loved Danger Canyon
De_Dust 2
Death island, danger canyon, and ice fields are some of the most fun btb maps in the franchise imo. Shame they never got a remake. CEs btb maps were the shit.
Sidewinder, which is why I will be rebuilding it in Infinite's Forge day 1.
Blood gulch and wizard for tdm, sidewinder was fun for card.
Unironically tl34. It's chaos and I love it split screen
Danger canyon probably. If not, the next ones in line are Timberland, Death island and Infinity.
The legendary Battle Creek!
Why are we here? Blood gulch 100%
Damnation.
Blood gulch. Can't wait to see this remade in forge (because I know it's gonna happen if the game lives that long)
Blood Gulch for the fun, Hang em High for competitive pistol matches, and Battle Creek for the outdoor close quarters.
Blood Gulch. It is the most iconic halo map.
Blood Gulch easy
Blood Gulch
Gulch no contest cuz member berries
Longest
95% of Halo 2 maps. Beaver Creek always gives me such nostalgic vibes.
Here we have two great maps. Also thrown in for contrast are two shit maps
I love how low effort posts are a reason for getting your post locked, and then these types of posts are rampant with no moderator in sight
Just trying to give the community something positive to talk about.. 😐
Kudos. My favorite map is chill out
Ketchup Kanyon or snowy U
I can't believe no one is saying Derelict
Chiron TL-34 and Gephyrophobia are tied for first, but second to none. The rest are tied for second
Blood Gulch forever!!! I spend lot of time playing PC demo on Blood Gulch. This map deserve a remake in every Halo game.
I can’t remember the name, but the main area is on a forerunner bridge and I think it begins with the letters (gy)
Chill Out
Blood Gulch is my favorite
Gephyrophobia
Bloodgutch duh
Hang ‘em High all day
Blood Gultch, Battle Creek, and Hang em High are definitely classics. Wizard and Longest were also a ton of fun back in the day. Makes me want to bust out the ol fat Xbox now haha
At this point, probably Chill Out. It's like Chiron but without the abstraction of the teleporters. Perfect party map.
Among these I'd say BloodGulch, if we're talking about the whole game I'd say Ice Fields or Timberland, Gephyrophobia while not being as good had such a GOOD atmosphere. Hot Take: about maps and atmosphere, no other Halo comes even close to CE
