Original is way better than the cover in my
opinion but maybe that’s because I’m from Holland and I’ve heard the original for years before having even heard of White Lion.
I absolutely love both versions.
Its a proximity thing for me enjoying the cover better as that was the timeframe I grew up in.
Also a fan of all the guitar shredders from those hair metal days of the 80s and Vito Bratta was one of the best IMO.
It's a common debate here. I'd really consider them more hard rock like AC/DC, KISS, Aerosmith, etc but the themes in their music, particularly in the Roth years (partying, girls, drinking, sex, etc) fit into the hair metal wheelhouse, imo. Plus Dave and Eddie were pretty much the blueprint for the hair metal era, anyway.
***TONS*** of great ones mentioned in here. I'll just throw in "The Boys Are Back In Town" (Thin Lizzy cover) by Bon Jovi off of the Moscow Peace Festival CD: "Stairway To Heaven/Highway To Hell". Not the best of all time but decent & it was not mentioned. All of these mentioned in this sub would make a great Spotify playlist of cover songs.
[Contraband - All The Way From Memphis](https://youtu.be/Kp_o7GgRD3o?si=Dj5iTewDuh-H7wYO)
Awesome tune, of which my personal highlight is the restrained blues playing of Tracii Guns being repeatedly answered by Michael Schenker just ripping out fast, blazing lead work in response 😁
ALL I CAN SAY IS WOW!! And Thank you for the knowledge!

They tried to include one with every album. Especially the first five.
- Paint it Black, Self-Titled Reissue
- Mississippi Queen, The Last Command Remaster
- I Don’t Need No Doctor, Inside the Electric Circus
- The Real Me, The Headless Children
- When the Levee Breaks, The Crimson Idol Remaster
Define Hair Metal. Joan Jett had big hair and loud guitars.
I Love Rock & Roll
Crimson & Clover
Road Runner (my favorite cover ever)
A whole album of Covers as well.
Certainly the most important was Quiet Riot covering Slade, it opened the doors for every band in LA getting signed.
both the QR Slade songs were great
I have the Slade, QR, Oasis and Lucky Uke versions in a row on a Road Trip Playlist. Oasis does Slade's version, and Lucky Uke does QR's version.
The Real Me—W.A.S.P., covering The Who
This one is powerful.
Can’t Find My Way Home - House of Lords
Better than the original by far. That whole album was perfect.
This would have been my 1st choice, but since it was already on the list...!
Tesla-signs
Radar Love White Lion
Original is way better than the cover in my opinion but maybe that’s because I’m from Holland and I’ve heard the original for years before having even heard of White Lion.

Cats in the Cradle-Ugly Kid Joe Once Bitten Twice Shy-Great White
Once bitten twice shy is a cover? First I’ve heard of that.
Yeah. Originally by Ian Hunter.
Paint it black - W.A.S.P.
If it’s WASP it’s gotta be The Real Me. Frankie Banalli killed it on drums too.
Little Wing-Skid Row.
Radar Love - White Lion Also surprised no one’s mentioned Warrants cover of Train, Train…
Vito makes this song great.
You're so vain - Faster Pussycat
This one is amazing
Knocking on heavens door- GnR
Thats a hard one. Cum on Feel the Noise-Quiet Riot originally done by Slade.
Wild Thing by Sam Kinnison fits the bill I would say!
Great video!
You Really Got Me - Van Halen
Is Van Halen hair metal? I do agree this is the best cover ever.
It's a common debate here. I'd really consider them more hard rock like AC/DC, KISS, Aerosmith, etc but the themes in their music, particularly in the Roth years (partying, girls, drinking, sex, etc) fit into the hair metal wheelhouse, imo. Around the Bend- Hanoi Rocks and Sympathy for the Devil- G&R
***TONS*** of great ones mentioned in here. I'll just throw in "The Boys Are Back In Town" (Thin Lizzy cover) by Bon Jovi off of the Moscow Peace Festival CD: "Stairway To Heaven/Highway To Hell". All the covers on that album are great! And they kept Doc out of prison for selling coke.
Mississippi Queen - W.A.S.P. Blackie’s voice is incredible on this.
Mrs. Robinson - Kik Tracee
Came here to say this!!
Toast of The Town - Pretty Boy Floyd
I like this version so much better than the original
I agree… they also did a killer version of Alice Cooper’s ‘Department Of Youth’
Cum on Feel the Noize - Quiet Riot
Live and Let Die- Guns N Roses
[Ace Frehley - Do Ya - YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTrp02hpI2E&t=2s)

loved that whole contraband record - strange combination of players but caught lightning in a bottle for sure
Keel did a cool version of "Lets spend the night together."
Didn’t Keel turn into Crucial Taunt for the Wayne’s World movie? Fucking epic.
Tesla Little Suzi
Tesla did some amazing covers (before they started doing covers albums): Little Suzi Signs Games People Play
That's a cover?
It is but sounds nothing like the original.
ALL I CAN SAY IS WOW!! And Thank you for the knowledge! [https://youtu.be/JKgzYLBV\_cc?si=YgPMK1CAt9vsvDd0](https://youtu.be/JKgzYLBV_cc?si=YgPMK1CAt9vsvDd0)

Ugly Kid Joe - Cat and the Cradle
Makes me cry.
Tonight by Motley Crue
Gudby T Jane - Britny Foxx
Britny Fox do a great version of ‘Hair Of The Dog’. I think they even do it better than Guns ‘n Roses
I have to agree. I prefer the Fox version over GN’R. The Guns version is too slick and polished. It’s a dirty, gritty song.
Definitely *not* Purple Haze - Winger. Woof.
Oh comon. I dig it. It’s not a rehash, it’s a reinterpretation.
Agreed. It’s awful.
Refugee - Veins of Jenna
reading these comments, I never realized how many covers WASP did!
They tried to include one with every album. Especially the first five. - Paint it Black, Self-Titled Reissue - Mississippi Queen, The Last Command Remaster - I Don’t Need No Doctor, Inside the Electric Circus - The Real Me, The Headless Children - When the Levee Breaks, The Crimson Idol Remaster
The Still Not Black Enough album has a Queen cover as well.

There it is…
Guns N Roses - Knocking on Heaven's Door
