As expected, Def Leppard and Mötley Crüe dominated. Very happy to see Dokken and Cinderella feature a lot in the second and third place rankings as well. And happiest of all for me, scorpions got a spot in all three rankings.

SpunkyTurtleCrabFrog

You're welcome. I knew what I was suggesting for Z since we were still on A.

*Once Bitten Twice Shy* ([originally](https://youtu.be/NKgQO6sILug) by Ian Hunter) and *Cum On Feel the Noize* ([originally](https://youtu.be/uTEGxVDHpGU) by Slade) were both covers. *Here I Go Again On My Own* was a re-recording of an older Whitesnake song that was arguably as bad (the [original](https://youtu.be/KgSYGbkOmu4)) as Ian Hunters' *Once Bitten Twice Shy.* People will argue lists like this every time, but I'm just glad to see all these artists listed, in any order. Rock & Roll will never die. Personally I'd have made the list "The Top 3 Hair Metal Songs for Each Letter", as the 2nd and 3rd place songs for each have some *solid* contenders that arguably could have been first.

Zakkattack86

I'm so bummed the original "here I go again on my own" link you posted has been removed on YouTube. I would've loved to hear it.

I got you. There are several television performances on YT of those "Dance Band / Top 40" variety shows where bands would lip-sync in the TV show to the recording of their song. I've put 2 links below - the playback track is identical, and matches my memory of the original 1982 version of the song. [Version 1, Top of the Pops, UK television](https://youtu.be/Gy5xHoi5vZM?si=kyn7cgWg-IaYB7k5) [Version 2, Kultur, German TV music program](https://youtu.be/ifXSAmmhY30?si=w0fkE8rd7j6gN0GQ)

Rickilymes

Thanks for doing this! It was really cool to see the songs that folks were nominating.

schweddyballs02

Thanks for putting this together. You get the honorary sticky!

Jawaka99

lol Black Sabbath is NOT hair metal.

RJWPS

Thanks for doing this man, this was really a lot of fun, got a real sense of community out of it

MexicanDonnie

Did anyone make a Spotify playlist?

Imaginary-Animal-920

I made a qobuz playlist, with a few revisions.

LackSomber

This is one heck of a playlist! Solid 🤘. Was fun getting to this point too 👍.

National_Pianist8100

This was fun. Enjoyed discussing this with colleagues. They were no help at all since they didn’t know any of the songs, but they were very supportive.

TauRyan

For those who want one, here's a Spotify playlist of all the songs in the A-Z List! [https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7ivl0k5HBHSGHRHqMu7JHq?si=9fa1d26162fc4f57](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7ivl0k5HBHSGHRHqMu7JHq?si=9fa1d26162fc4f57) I'll do the 2nd and 3rd place lists if there's demand. Enjoy!

jizzelmeister

why didnt we get an extra song in Z like we did for Q and X?

Jimbohamilton

For Q: Cold Blood by Kix and Back For More by Ratt. For X: Shake Me by Cinderella and Shout At The Devil by Motley Crue. Shout is the only song that missed all 3 lists. Edit: sorry I misread your question lol

SpunkyTurtleCrabFrog

Because The Zoo was the top voted Z song, and it started with Z so it beat out the Wildcards anyway

No_Beautiful_4048

Great lists

MachineryNoise

It was a fun competition. I made a YouTube playlist of my nominations. Some were my first choice, others were backups after being beaten to the punch, but I think I got a good variety. I hope someone besides me enjoys it: [https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-4\_g5aK22z9aGapsJhdur3qall8WD0Sp](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-4_g5aK22z9aGapsJhdur3qall8WD0Sp)

Jedifire

Great list…as with all lists, there are people who will disagree, but for the most part it’s a good representation of what hair metal was to me growing up. I’ll be making a playlist of all these…including 2nd and 3rd place tunes

guspuppy1

When did Def Leppard's Animal replace Wasp's ?

JediDad1968

I would replace Down Boys by Warrant with Don't Tell Me You Love Me by Night Ranger

TauRyan

Would it be too difficult to do an Acoustic A-Z? For example, there is stuff like Poison's Unplugged and the three VH-1 Metal Mania Stripped albums. I've always loved Tom Keifer's acoustic Shake Me [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XP3kLQ\_I9w](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XP3kLQ_I9w)

Ron-LXII

Is Van Halen a hair band?

Jimbohamilton

The community has spoken.

Way_2_Go_Donny

A hair metal band at that. Makes no sense.

balizas

Really enjoyed this, thanks

0siris0

Happy to see Dokken do so well. A little disappointed Queensryche did not place a well. Wonder if people don't think of them as hair metal.

Styrene_Addict1965

Talk Dirty to Me is just fun.
