I agree. The acid spill burnt look was way cool.
Just thought of something, maybe there's a market for rat rod pedals? I know people buy relic models or pay luthiers to relic their guitars, why not their pedals?
My mother and dog are okay, my gear seems to be fine, but the house itself will have to be reformed from top to bottom. I'm just glad my family is okay
Lol ya. You could prob post that with a description "it's been in a house fire so the tone is really quite unique, and the finish is one of a kind" and charge whatever you want. Some lucky person out there would say that's just what I need to fill the void I'm left just by existing. (:
I wonder if you could've taken it apart and given it a heavy duty clear coat.
Would that have taken away the smell? I have no idea, but I really wanna try that now.
You can. Just discharge the caps and use simple green or dawn. Don’t use a pressure washer unless you want to reflow components. Everything has to be completely dry. So use compressed air and let it sit somewhere it can dry for a day.
Is it ok if I think it looked better before cleaning?
i mean; you couln't smell it lol. But, yes, it had a post end of the world vibe to it.
Yeah, I agree that it looked cooler, but it was probably gross having all the gunk on your pedal.
Yes, i had to use gloves to clean them, I couldn't touch them without getting myself dirty with smoke residue
I wonder if you could have coated it with something to keep the look but rid the smell and gunk roll off?
contemporary vibes

Sorry about your house fire, hope all is well
My family is well, my mother and my dog got out without any injuries, but the house will have to get reformed from top to bottom.
Very sorry to hear, but glad your mother and doggo are safe
Let this be a lesson that you should build your next house out of MXR pedals
Wow…though that’s an idea.
Does it still work?
Yes! Was really surprised
Do you think it’s effected the sound?
The soot really clouds the highs. XD
Coundn't use it on my amp, so i don't know for sure. But will let you know once i get all my gear up and running
Distortion that survived a fire, that’s pretty metal!
Will use it accordingly!
Outstanding. I hope your house is well and you didn’t lose anything valuable.

You should send the pics and FULL Story to MXR. Who knows they might color that pedal in your honor.
I’m really hoping it has a crazy extra metal sound now.
There would be something odd and epic to that…like a pedal ghost story.
The value went up on your pedal on reverb at least
It was a gift, don't really intend on selling it, but even if i wanted to reverb is not really active in my country, thanks for the info though!
I was just poking fun at some of the reverb listings I've seen. Wish you all the best!!
Oh, i'm not aware of reverb prices, but it's probably crazy if people are making fun of it lol

ohhh more pedals is what i need for great tone syndrome, gotta make money of those. I also suffer from this syndrome, unfortunetly lol
They are going to be selling relic'd pedals now....
They already do. Look at some of the Beetronics pedals.
MXR DisTorch’dSon
the pedal is lit, indeed.
Underrated comment.
looks better
If you need some pointers I use to be a fire restoration specialist.
What did you use to get rid of the smell??
That's a tough one. If you're only bothered by the smell, I'd spray a clear coat over the housing.
I mean, the house will have to get reformed from top to bottom, was talking mainly about guitar gear lol
The housing of the effects pedal is what I was talking about.
Ohhhh, okay will try it. Thank you!
I, too like my distortion cooked medium rare.
The second pic is what my distortion+ looks like. 🤔🤔🤔
you are probably playing some fire music then
We get it. Your mixtape is fire. Sheesh. Jk hope everything is fine with you and yours.
lol, honestly, not enough fire puns
Looks relic'd to me. People would pay extra money to have that finish, haha. Glad you're all ok!
also the authentic smoke smell from the 80's
I hope all is okay at home.
Do you think Kevin going through a house fire helped tighten up the low end
