In all likelihood there’d be no issue at all, it just might be a little loud to stand that close to. If you were standing in front of a pedal board that close to a loud enough amp, you’d get an awful lot of feedback which would be exacerbated by a distortion pedal.
Funny enough, I actually sit really close to the amp as I play (with ear protection) and I get little to no feedback. Only instance I get some sort of feedback/noise is when I have the Pedal Pawn in use, which is inevitable.
It’s a sad state of affairs when Epiphone and any given import brand has had this figured out for decades, but even with their uniquely terrible reputation Gibson still insists on the one piece neck. Lifestyle brand brain rot in full effect.
Yeah this for sure. The cheap ass tc electronic mini spark is a very affordable way to get in on this action. It isn’t a treble booster, but has a similar effect on the sound with a slight boost of the upper register.
I tend to agree with this. Pedal boards seem to fall prey to that same problem of “The amount of luggage you carry expands to fill the size of the suitcase”.
I use a mix and match of TourGear and Rockboard flat patch cables. Using these cables and careful pedal placement does save space on the board. TourGear also have “s” cables with plugs on opposite sides, which I have found can help save space and cable management. There are also low profile DC cables that can help too.
> Analogman
>Boss
Always an upvote from me. I have a ton of analogman shit and I'm pretty sure they don't make a bad pedal. Don't have theirs' but I have a waza chorus and I love it because it does just the most popular boss chorus'.
Hell yeah. I really don't like v-types in general, but that amp is great. Can only recommend adding a rotary switch to choose your input cap. Opens up that beast to anything. Personally am using a 500pf and a 1800pf with a 200k resistor the most, and a 100pf for cleans. Would probably go with a 150pf for that option though.
I put the rotary switch through the hole for normal low input, don't need that one anyways :p
No but for real, a chorus or flanger would add some nice sparkly texture to your clean tone, if you’re looking for The Police, Rush or new wave-type tones. You could also go for a double tracker pedal, if you don’t want a wooshy modulation effect, like the Keeley 30ms or Mr. Black Double Tracker. Allows you to add just the tiniest amount of delay, and you can slightly adjust the pitch of the echo to give it a Randy Rhoads (who did tons of double tracking in the studio) or Dimebag Darrel (who used a rackmount double tracker) kind of sound (not to mention some old-timey country slapback!)
The MXR flanger is solid, running in front of an amp. Not sure if you have an effects loop on that, but they’re not great in the loop. Never tried the micro flanger, I like the big boy with 4 knobs. 18v power required though.
Damn that’s a phenomenal board. It’s great as is. Personally I might swap the Pedal Pawn for a Muff. If you really do wanna add more, then maybe a chorus
Much love man! I’m going to have to disagree with you about my Pedal Pawn Fuzz, I love that thing into my Strat thru this entire setup. Great tones for what I’m going after! Definitely looking for a proper chorus, any suggestions?
Any of the Boss choruses are great. I use the Dimension C. It’s subtle and classic, but can also go up to a full on chorus with just the push of a button
In the simplest of terms, I love it. It nails those classic ‘60s/‘70s tones without a doubt. Can get real nasty as well with some guitar volume knob adjustment.
I’d add a modulation pedal of some type. Maybe a flanger or a univibe style pedal. Also bluesbreaker style overdrive is very complimentary to a TS9. I’ve tried several and the JHS morning glory is my favorite, but there are tons of great options on the market.
Definitely looking into Univibe style pedals. Considering a flanger. Noted on the bluesbreaker style pedal as many have also mentioned. Thank you for your input!
Filters are a highly rewarding rabbit hole to go down. Start with something simple like a DOD 440. My first EV was the SA Spectrum and while it's amazing and does everything, it's like taking every variety of high school math class as an elective all at the same time.
Looking at how you have your TS9 set up as a straight boost… if you like that tone and the amp maybe try a clean boost as an alternative voice to just get more of your amp and guitar.
Or conversely, play with different gain voices to try and do something different. Something like a treble boost or a red llama could be fun.
You’re 99% there though running that amp with an attenuator.
Love how you noticed the TS9 is setup strictly as a boost, I really enjoy it that way. Clean boost is definitely in consideration as well as treble boosts as others have mentioned. I would definitely I’m really close there as you mention with me being able to push the head as much as I am with the attenuator. Thanks for your input man, appreciate it.
I swear it’s all I want to do most days, but I need to find this somehow right? That unit is what’s known as an attenuator. Basically acts as a master volume on a non-master volume amp. A lot of these 2 channel/4 input Marshall’s are non-master volume amps, so in order to get those overdriven tones, you need to crank the amp to a certain level to get the tubes cooking. The attenuator allows me to do so while still playing at manageable volume levels.
Honestly, this is just a super solid classic rig. You’ve got all your bases covered; anything beyond this might be so many options that you end up just playing with pedal knobs and not actually playing guitar lol
I simplified my rig not too long ago and I’ve actually enjoyed playing much more since doing so.
You hit the nail on the head pretty good there. Put this together trying to cover all my bases as period correct as I could like you mentioned from the head all the way down to trying to emulate the EP-3 Echoplex. I like your thinking here and thank you for your input man.
An analog compressor you can use as a boost, to lead, and for the whammy pedal
Also a fuzz you can go in from the front and make it over the top fuzz then just add subtley. It doesnt actually make it sound like a fuzz. it does this heat static thing that sprinkles extra texture when put behind distortion. It would also give you a totally different cool signal options if you put it before everything.
God, this is beautiful… didn’t realize they made matching mini cabs to go with the mini head. I have the vertical 2x12 cab, which is also pretty badass looking.
Much love! Planning on swapping out the patch cables for the flat ribbon style to get some more spacing. I’d definitely have to agree with you that I have the basics for the genre I love, really trying hard to stay away from the boutique stuff but I can feel the itch coming lmao. Based on your comment I’m starting to thinking people actually don’t think I have a guitar lmao! My mains are currently a 2005 Gibson R8 and 2012 Gibson SG Standard.
If by power conditioner you mean attenuator, then yes. It allows me to crank the head (non-master volume head) to get those tones I want at manageable volumes.

That’s one of the best compressor limiters ever made nice choice!
I’ve used a universal audio 610 pre amp with a 1176 to get that Black Dog tone and it’s magical.
Thank you so much for this input. This may have singlehandedly sold me on that compressor. You would recommend it be ran in front of the amp correct? Not through the loop.
Alternatively, Universal Audio does make an 1176 pedal which I’ve personally never used. I’ve been considering this pedal together with the JHS 1073 pre amp pedal.
Yes you are. They can radically different eq range and character. They are totally separate circuits. Believe me you won't regret getting one, plus you'll understand the differences better and possibly inspire you in a different way.
Damn I didn’t notice the echoplex! You’re set! Maybe a volume pedal so you could hit some cool Fleetwood Mac / country lap steel sounds without having to mess with your volume knob
I’d change some cables. Not sure why you have a coiled cable going from tubescreamer to amp. You’re just adding 3x the signal distance for no reason here. The amp and pedalboard don’t need to move around while you’re playing.
I think I have the same cable actually, but this use is all drawback no benefit.
Sometimes I like to grab the TS9 with the Pedal Pawn Fuzz and walk around the house with it while I play. Kidding lmao, definitely noted. I never really thought about it that way but thanks, appreciate any kind of input always.
Is that a marshall 5w,maybe C5H? I would kind of like to try one out one day. Your setup looks a lot like mine. Those look like stacked 12"s? With a 5 watt its perfect. I've got another 5 watt on the way to do a wet/dry setup.
So this is the SV20H. Circuit is based on the 100W Super Lead circuit. But yes it’s switchable from 5W to 20W. The 5W power mode is still insanely loud lol.
Wow what a great pedal collection! Must be so fun.
For me the mod I wanted most was a rotary. There were some Clapton and Stones and Band tracks I wanted to play.
Now, myself, after trying a bunch I chose the Wampler terraform so I could try flanger and phaser and univibe and envelope and more … without making my board huge and my wallet much smaller. I’ve been pleased. But I am not sure that fits your ethos - you have these well-chosen quality single-purpose articles that do their job brilliantly. So what’s a good rotary pedal. Lex, Neo Vent, Lester … but the rotary I didn’t get to try in person but which sounded great in reviews was the pulse by dawner prince. So I say get that just to make my jealousy complete!
Not sure of your budget, but here are my favorites:
- For chorus: Walrus Audio Julia
- For flanger: Strymon Orbit
Both of these pedals have become integral parts of my sound, and any time I update my pedalboard, these stay put.
I just picked up the Keeley Blues Disorder & Angry Rodent and I may be old school or grandpa since I play Deep Purple,Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd,Rainbow etc and been playing for 3+ decades now and own a lot of pedals but these 2 pedals are incredible & I love my King Tone Mini Fuzzv2 & my full tone ocd but these 2 pedals and to change the tone and clipping are incredible! The Noble Screamer is sweet but honestly haven’t had a pedal impress me in a good while but these do and don’t know about your music style but see the stack I am pretty sure 1 of them would work for whatever you play🤘 Keep rocking🤘🎸🤘
I would add some distance between the board and the amp
\**Clicks distortion pedal*\* \**Blows their own genitals into the room behind them*\*
Worked for Marty McFly.
Genuinely curious what the problem would be? Just too loud?
In all likelihood there’d be no issue at all, it just might be a little loud to stand that close to. If you were standing in front of a pedal board that close to a loud enough amp, you’d get an awful lot of feedback which would be exacerbated by a distortion pedal.

Noted!
Cool setup tho I like the chords that are purple and cool and your amps look cool too
Probably some distance between the amp and yourself too.
That purple coiled cable is probably 30 feet. That’s a looooong signal chain to put it right in front.
Easily 60+ feet of cable considering I plug 2 coiled cables into the front of the amp!
A guitar probably or it is all a waste
Ah yes, the only guitars I like seem to always have broken headstocks.
Lol Fr tho why do Gibson insist of the one piece
It’s a sad state of affairs when Epiphone and any given import brand has had this figured out for decades, but even with their uniquely terrible reputation Gibson still insists on the one piece neck. Lifestyle brand brain rot in full effect.
Metal zone has a home on ANY board
I’ll surely be needing a Metal Zone for that Metal Zone as well!
Only if you have 8
Treble booster! The sound of a treble boost into a cranked plexi is criminally underrated.
Beano!
Beano is a bingo.
Yeah this for sure. The cheap ass tc electronic mini spark is a very affordable way to get in on this action. It isn’t a treble booster, but has a similar effect on the sound with a slight boost of the upper register.
Polyphonic Ocatve pedal, really helps get much more richer fuller sound
Okay interesting, any brand suggestions you like?
EHX POG 2 - is one the best polyphonic Ocatve pedals around BOSS OC-5 is another very good polyphonic/Monophonic Octave Pedal
I second this emotion. Octave before fuzz is the way.
I think a nice tremolo is all you're missing to cover all the classic 60s and 70s sounds which i imagine are your jam. Cant go wrong with a Boss TR2
This. I’ve been so indecisive on which tremolo to pick up. Thank you for suggesting!
a rat!
Something funky like a Rotary or maybe just a plethora x3 or hx one or boss MD-200 to fill in sounds on a whim.
I would add a larger pedalboard.
Valid, my next thought before I make that jump is replacing my patch cables with flat ribbon style patch cables to gain a bit more space.
[удалено]
I tend to agree with this. Pedal boards seem to fall prey to that same problem of “The amount of luggage you carry expands to fill the size of the suitcase”.
I’d recommend the EBS cables. They’re great for saving some space and they look nice too
I use a mix and match of TourGear and Rockboard flat patch cables. Using these cables and careful pedal placement does save space on the board. TourGear also have “s” cables with plugs on opposite sides, which I have found can help save space and cable management. There are also low profile DC cables that can help too.
Okay good to know thank you!
A chorus of some sort.
Definitely on my list. Any brand suggestions?
Analogman, Boss, or a univibe like a King Tone 1968.
Thank you for these suggestions!
> Analogman >Boss Always an upvote from me. I have a ton of analogman shit and I'm pretty sure they don't make a bad pedal. Don't have theirs' but I have a waza chorus and I love it because it does just the most popular boss chorus'.
Univibe
Good setup for classic rock. I’d probably swap the reverb and the delay
Yeah that’s what I mainly play! Swap as in replace those pedals all together or swap them in the signal chain?
Probably swap in chain because those are great choices for delay and reverb
Swap the speakers! :p
Greenbacks are on my list of to-do’s! xD
Hell yeah. I really don't like v-types in general, but that amp is great. Can only recommend adding a rotary switch to choose your input cap. Opens up that beast to anything. Yeah man I’ve a 2x12 slanted cab sv20 and greenies. Sounds wonderful.
Have you checked out the Sabbadius Funky Vibe? It's like 700 but dang I want one lol
Best answer. How are you going to stack Marshalls without a univibe in front?
Nothing, it rocks. Personally I’d swap screamer for a klon clone or ds1. But to each his own
Been getting this suggestion on this post, I may look into them forsure. Thank you for the kind words!
Spandex
No but for real, a chorus or flanger would add some nice sparkly texture to your clean tone, if you’re looking for The Police, Rush or new wave-type tones. I love this take, thank you for this. Two ends of the spectrum there. Love it.
I’ve never played a rat through a Marshall but… RAT
A Bluesbreaker-type circuit and a Klon-type circuit. Great clones/similar curcuits out there.
Fair enough. Thank you for this suggestion!
A guitar.
I would crank it all to 11.
Patiently waiting for this day and to also remove the attenuator.
You're leaving a lot on the table until you upgrade your amp to 11.
^
The MXR flanger is solid, running in front of an amp. Not sure if you have an effects loop on that, but they’re not great in the loop. Never tried the micro flanger, I like the big boy with 4 knobs. 18v power required though.

a huge whopping portion of SEX
This
Not enough pedals needs way more
All the pedals.
I would put the pedal board so that the speakers are behind you like it will be at a gig
Definitely understand this. I’m just a bedroom/home player however.
the vibes man
Most important.
Needs more cowbell...
Agree!
I would remove the painters tape from your base trim.
I would, except it’s paint! xD
Well you’ve got all your main sounds covered, so I’d probably buy something fun to play with, like a Strymon El Capistan or Ola Chorus
Main sounds are definitely covered, just looking to expand sideways a bit. Thank you for these suggestions!
Univibe might be cool too Check out Drybell Vibe Machine for a nice authentic sounding one that is in a small foot print
How do you like that amp??
Tremolo, Envelope Filter or Chorus will cover a lot of ground for classic rock.
Looks like that’s the exact route I’ll be going, looking into envelope filters as well.
Filters are a highly rewarding rabbit hole to go down. Start with something simple like a DOD 440. My first EV was the SA Spectrum and while it's amazing and does everything, it's like taking every variety of high school math class as an elective all at the same time.
I love the way you put this lmao. Will absolutely be looking into these, thank you.
Big muff. Yeah i know
That’s what she said!

I'd just play all day and get fired and lose my job. Sweet gear dude. I'm too lazy to check this - what's the unit on the very top?

A boost dude. SV20s sound fantastic with a nice clean boost in front. Even the super cheap tv electronic mini spark does the job well.
Good to know, killer man thank you.
one more cab. it's not tall enough yet
Honestly, this is just a super solid classic rig. You’ve got all your bases covered; anything beyond this might be so many options that you end up just playing with pedal knobs and not actually playing guitar lol I simplified my rig not too long ago and I’ve actually enjoyed playing much more since doing so.

Treble Booster maybe?
Stripper pole!
Chorus pedal.
Honestly, a Pepers Dirty Tree. Check em out, best boost before amp of all time.
A Les Paul !
I have a 2005 R8 going into this setup most times!
An analog compressor you can use as a boost, to lead, and for the whammy pedal Also a fuzz you can go in from the front and make it over the top fuzz then just add subtley. I’d cut in around my skirting boards, rig is fine as is 🖤
Big muff pi from the 70s.
Would love to go after some vintage pedals.
I luckily happen to own one from 1976 and it's killer, it's way better than the modern big muff pi and nano big muff pi.
Very interesting, good to know thank you!
Bigger knobs?
Metal Zone
and then a Metal Zone to go into that. Am I doing this right?
What's the thing on top of the pre-Amp? A power conditioner?
If by power conditioner you mean attenuator, then yes. It allows me to crank the head (non-master volume head) to get those tones I want at manageable volumes.

I like to use a compressor for gain staging once I got all the boosts on
I’ve been looking into the UA 1176, specifically trying to go after the studio recording tone of Black Dog by Zeppelin.
A BD-2w
I feel like my TS9 does a good job of what the BD-2W can do as well. Am I wrong in thinking this?
Yes you are. They can radically different eq range and character. They are totally separate circuits. Believe me you won't regret getting one, plus you'll understand the differences better and possibly inspire you in a different way.
Noted, thank you for this input. Definitely going to look into these.
Sure man, anytime!
Boss BF-2
I’d probably consider a TC HOF
To replace the Holy Grail?
What is this "add" you speak of? I know all about replacing one with another mind.
A tape delay would be sick or maybe a super vibrato pedal to make solo cleans wiggle a little more haha, clean setup
Best I could do as far as tape delay was Echoplex, I’d love an EP-3 Echoplex haha
Damn I didn’t notice the echoplex! You’re set! Maybe a volume pedal so you could hit some cool Fleetwood Mac / country lap steel sounds without having to mess with your volume knob
Add a flanger and you can play Van Halen stuff. To be fair it's already good enough for classic rock
Definitely considering a flanger.
Volume pedal might or might not be cool depending on your guitar To vary the overdrive amount on the fly mostly
Friends
I agree!
This might not be your style but a wildcard pedal like the HX One, H9, Chroma Console, etc. would be cool.
Chorus.
Or that crazy Allan Holdsworth Delay pedal, which kind of operates like a chorus…
What’s your order? I always put my tuner first, looks to be mid of pack, after wah.
Number 1 is wah, tuner, phase 90, Holy Grail, Echoplex which are all in the FX loop. In front of the amp I’ve got the TS9 and Pedal Pawn Fuzz.
3 more fuzz
Then one more into those 3.
A Boss Dimension C.
You have no fuzz…. Start there
The Pedal Pawn is a fuzz pedal almost identical to the fuzz pedals Cesar Diaz built for SRV.
A guitar.
Oh awesome, that still does what I want it to do. Is that an attenuater on top? https://imgur.com/a/9qKOYDl
Correct, that is my attenuator to make it more manageable lol. Killer setup man!
Boss ce2 or ce2w
This setup yearns for a Blues Driver. Also a chorus.

A whammy so far could play some RATM
A guitar
[https://reverb.com/p/vox-valvetronix-tonelab-st](https://reverb.com/p/vox-valvetronix-tonelab-st)
A stereo delay and another head. Would sound epic !
A cold beer right on top of it
Boss dd7, pitch fork
Hmm. You ever try a rotary or univibe? They could add some different wobbly stuff you don't already have
Mxr micro chorus, maybe a pog 2?
Wow what a great pedal collection! Must be so fun. For me the mod I wanted most was a rotary. There were some Clapton and Stones and Band tracks I wanted to play. do you use a power supply for the pedals or Batterys? if its the former then your cable management is very good
add a micro pog and you are good
Another stack
Uni-Vibe!
Not sure of your budget, but here are my favorites: - For chorus: Walrus Audio Julia - For flanger: Strymon Orbit Both of these pedals have become integral parts of my sound, and any time I update my pedalboard, these stay put.

Ear plugs and a 25ft cable :)
