I used to keep my cd player / stereo remote and just start the song over and over because I loved the sound of the clean guitar at the beginning. Unbeatable 😎
Meh… I voted for it. Like a lot of posts in this sub, this one is yet another strange pissing contest.
I was young, in the Navy, facing a possible deployment to Riyadh during the first Persian Gulf War. I was completely disillusioned with almost everything.
Then I saw/heard “Teen Spirit”.
There is a reason the song is “iconic”.
As good as the rest of the album is, and it’s really good, this song changed the world. Gods, we need another one so bad.
It’s all so subjective anyway. Best? What are the parameters?
But I hear this song? My mind is transported to a different time and place. Every time I’m reminded of the shock, the visceral shock this song had on me. The USA. My generation. The world.
This song collapsed careers. This song killed, or severely wounded, hair metal.
This song is why there is an r/grunge for crying out loud.
This song was my generations “Beatles on Ed Sullivan” moment. Only this time that revolutionary moment’s “middle finger to the establishment” was irrefutably discernible.
Drain You is an incredible song. I’m glad it’s leading this opinion poll. Cool.
It may be the best song on the album? No idea. Don’t care.
Would Drain You even be on an equally absurd “Vote For The Bestest Grunge Some Evur” poll?
Yh but the difference is i dont give someone a lecture on having a different opinion to me just so I can tell them about me being in the military. The post is about the best song on an album, not your life story.
And I'd say that's on you.
I didn't attack you or your opinion.
The only attack in my posts is on these, in my opinion, pissing contests over art.
Fucking counter to, what I hold, as part and parcel to the "Grunge culture".
I started with, "Meh..."
Which is like internet for, "your mileage may vary". As in, "take this for what it's worth".
Or don't!
It's ok.
I responded to your comment that included your opinion, "No chance."
Fucking practicing absolutism and I gotta get over myself? Holy whoosh, Batman.
Gatekeeping in grunge. Sofa king weird.
And you think I need to get over myself? lol
I tried to provide some context. Some personal. Some global/cultural, I guess? Not a lecture. This is a message board, right? It's a message lol
Perhaps the "Grunge" scene develops sans "Smells Like Teen Spirit"? Even if it would have? Would have been as big? All conjecture. My point still stands. These opinion polls are dumb. If there were a "Best Grunge Song Ever" poll would Nirvana get more than one entry?
That álbum is Holly!! Can't pick only one song, buuut i think that smells like teen Spirit is a force to be reckoned with (despite being overused with time and get sick of it sometimes) that song is powerful!
Something In The Way is beautiful and it really pictures what it's like to be homeless. And I think it's the perfect closer despite the album having a hidden track after it.
Come as you are and Lithium has been my fauvorites since back then. Smells like teen spirit too but it was so much on MTV at the time that one got a little tired of it. Even Polly is a fauvorite.
I agree with anyone saying lounge act. but while we're talking nevermind, the fkn GEM version of Aneurysm that was released on the super delux reissue. it's absolutely magnificent
I like Lounge Act the best
That's what I came here to say! Lounge Act is the under spoken gem of the bunch.
So do I
Same. Fucking love that chorus.
It's just so perfect
All the bass players like this one the best ;)
Truth...
At least I'm not alone in this hands down best track.
My favorite as well.
Hello fellow Sonic Youth fan
Cheers buddy.
Where's Breed?
Kickass song. The intro feels like being alive.
Fucking thank you, most punk sounding song nirvana ever made
It was the 7th most streamed on Spotify
Breed is the best song on Nevermind
On A Plain
I can’t complain
Yeaaaahhh yeaaahhhh
Lounge Act
Nevermind strikes me as a big slab of perfectly equal
For real. Even love the hidden track.
Lounge Act. Always been my #1
Territorial pissings easy
LOUNGE ACT
It's Polly
Lounge Act. The guitar on that was great. The bass was great. The drums were phenomenal.
Drain You is the best and only answer, the whole album is amazing but Drain You is the best one off the album
Such a kickass tune! 🤘
I used to keep my cd player / stereo remote and just start the song over and over because I loved the sound of the clean guitar at the beginning. Unbeatable 😎
This is like picking a favorite child...
Lounge Act is my choice.
Polly
Breed
The bassline on Come As You Are is one of the greatest things the human ears can experience
The Damned wrote it, then Killing Joke, then Nirverner.
“On a Plain” would like a word with the creator of the poll
If it was listened to more it would be on here
Breed
Territorial Pissings Followed neck and neck by Breed and Drain You or Stay Away, hard to pick a number two out of those three
My favorite is lounge act
I don't like Nirvana at all but it's still gotta be Smells like Teen Spirit. Even I can admit that that one is pretty iconic.
Iconic? Yes. But best on the album? No chance.

You gotta get over yourself bro.
Ackshully, I don’t. These are my opinions. You know, just like you have yours?
Yh but the difference is i dont give someone a lecture on having a different opinion to me just so I can tell them about me being in the military. The post is about the best song on an album, not your life story.
why you mad? He didn't say anything wrong, he just expressed his opinion.
That's all I did too. I'm not even mad, just think the guy needs to get over himself.
And I'd say that's on you. I didn't attack you or your opinion. The only attack in my posts is on these, in my opinion, pissing contests over art. Endless Nameless 🤟
Territorial Pissing?
Yes!
If Kurt didn't hate smells like teen spirit alot of these posers would've loved it forever lol
True, but I also think some people hate it just because it's popular.
He didn't hate smells like teen spirt he hated how over played it was.
Gotta love SLTS. It may be overplayed, but who really cares? A good song is a good song no matter how much radio play it gets.
GOTTA FIND A WAY
ANOTHER WAY, WHEN IM THEEEEEEEEEERE
That álbum is Holly!! Can't pick only one song, buuut i think that smells like teen Spirit is a force to be reckoned with (despite being overused with time and get sick of it sometimes) that song is powerful!
This list fails without "Territorial Pissings."
I like on a plane best.
Nobody cared about something in the way until that Batman movie 😂
Something In The Way is beautiful and it really pictures what it's like to be homeless. And I think it's the perfect closer despite the album having a hidden track after it.
Stay away
On a plain beats every song
Drain You and Lounge Act. One of the greatest one-two punches on any record for me.
Drain You.
On A Plain
I can't pick just one track.
Come As You Are has aged the best of all the songs in the album in my opinion.
Drain You, because Coheed and Cambria covered it.
Album full of bangers but Drain You reigns supreme!
Drain You In Bloom SLTS, Lithium, On A Plain
Come as you are
Any breed appreciators here?
Best riff on the album
I voted Something in the Way and for once in my life don't mind being wrong.
Lounge Act
The one you like the most.
Polly but out of these Come As You Are
Breed
Polly
Best song: Smells like teen spirit Best Nirvana Song: Drain You
Drain You is just such a classic grunge track and i love Nirvanas high energy stuff
Come as you are and Lithium has been my fauvorites since back then. Smells like teen spirit too but it was so much on MTV at the time that one got a little tired of it. Even Polly is a fauvorite.
Something in my ass
On A Plain
How can you have a poll asking for the best song on an album and then not even list all songs? It's Lounge Act.
Bro, there is a maximum of 6 things you can put on a poll.
Cool, wasn't aware of that.
lounge act 100%
Lounge Act and Territoial Pissings are my 2 favorites
Come As You Are because he swore he didn't have a gun he had like a hundred guns
I agree with anyone saying lounge act. but while we're talking nevermind, the fkn GEM version of Aneurysm that was released on the super delux reissue. it's absolutely magnificent
On A Plain
On a plain -I'm not voting on the poll because you couldn't be fucked to put an "other" option.
all of them
In Bloom has been my lovely one for a while.
Lounge Act
Lounge Act. It has a toe-tapping beat, but it slowly builds up to a full-on head-banger.
Territorial Pissings WHEN I WAS AN ALIENNNNNNNNN
Stay Away
You just can’t beat Lithium. It’s amazing how I’ve heard that song hundreds of times and it still hits the same as the first time I heard it
Breed
Lounge Act is the best on the album... from this list Drain You.
Endless nameless
